(alm) Supplementary Reports: ROYAL RANDWICK: Saturday, 22 July 2017 RACE 4: Sydney Spring Carnival Now On Sale sprint 1000m Super Too trainer Mr M Conners advised that he was satisfied with the post race condition of Super Too, however he indicated he will apply a tongue tie to the horse's gear at its next star. RACE 7: July Sprint 1100m Reldas trainer Mr R Smerdon advised that he was satisfied with the post race condition of the gelding. He stated that it would now be his intention to have Reldas compete in a Victorian jump out prior to its next race start. RACE 1 Ascot Restaurant Handicap 1200m Momentum To Win shifted its near fore plate en route to the barriers and as a result underwent farrier attention to have that plate refitted. Sparky Lad was slow to begin, then raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Supersphere raced greenly in the middle stages and approaching the 500m, and again approaching the 400m, shifted in abruptly and had to be steadied away from the heels of Sparky Lad. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Brave Song approaching the 400m was steadied and shifted to the outside of the heels of Supersphere when that runner gave ground. Brave Song laid in under pressure for some distance near the 200m. Puppet Master raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Puppet Master laid out making the home turn. RACE 2 All Too Hard @ Vinery Handicap 1100m Ebenos after being slow to begin was crowded shortly after the start between Pel and Rebel Miss. Phuket laid out under pressure in the straight. Rode To Sundown on two occasions after the 200m was hampered and taken wider by Phuket, which shifted out. Rebel Miss when questioned, J Collett stated that his instructions were to have Rebel Miss ridden a little quieter than its previous start at Hawkesbury on 30 May 2017 when the horse performed disappointingly. He said that after beginning on terms with the field, and when runners improved to his inside and caught wide and without cover, he restrained Rebel Miss to obtain a position trailing Pel, which was ultimately further back in the field than intended.
Pel a post race veterinary examination revealed Pel to be lame in the near fore log and to have suffered speedy cuts to the inside off hind pastern. RACE 3 ATC Member For A Day Handicap 1250m Mariquita was declared a late withdrawal at 9.05am acting on veterinary advice when the mare was found to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer Mr G Ryan was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. Divergence change of tactics to be ridden further forward; led. App N Heywood was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out fully to the winning post in similar circumstances where circumstances permit. Klisstra raced wide and without cover throughout the event. No Interest after being slow to begin, was crowded shortly after the start by Divergence, which shifted out. Love Las Vegas was crowded on jumping by Summit Breath, which shifted in. Chicquita began only fairly. Summit Breath raced keenly in the middle stages. Sharhazad when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, H Bowman stated that the mare travelled well throughout the early and middle stages. He stated that he attempted to improve after the 500m, however Sharhazad did not respond to his efforts and although impeded shortly after straightening when Summit Breath shifted out, his mount was a beaten horse and was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish the race off. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr E Cummings could offer no explanation for the performance and undertook to report back on the progress of the more in the days subsequent. Hammoon Dream when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, K McEvoy stated that he anticipated settling in a forward position. He stated, however, when several runners improved to his inside, his mount was obliged to race four wide without cover until approaching the 500m. He said at this point, he was able to obtain cover for a short distance behind Klisstra, however his mount became immediately under pressure and weakened over the final 500m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr K Lees advised that Hammoon Dream will now be spelled. RACE 4 Tab.com.au Handicap 1550m Spy Decoder change to tactics to be ridden further forward; led. Plaisir was slow to begin. Rolston raced keenly in the early stages and after the 1200m, was steadied away from the heels of Notio. Imanui from a wide barrier was shifted in across behind runners in the early stages. Imanui raced keenly in the early stages. Notio for some distance passing the 500m, raced in restricted room between Miami Dade and Plaisir, which shifted out. Special Missile passing the 200m shifted in abruptly. Quick Defence when questioned regarding his riding in the middle stages and the reasons he shifted his mount to a three wide position without cover after passing the 600m, H Bowman stated that
in his opinion, the race had been run at a slow tempo. He said that for this reason, as in his opinion Quick Defence is a horse that is suited by being able to improve gradually into the race, bearing in mind the tempo of this race, he considered his mount's best chance was to make a sustained run. RACE 5 Bowermans Office Furniture Handicap 1100m Invienna change of tactics to be ridden quieter to obtain cover; settled outside the leader. When questioned regarding the mare settling outside the leader when Stewards were advised by trainer Mr K Lees that it was his intention to have the horse ridden quieter today from a wide barrier, H Bowman stated that Invienna began particularly well and when he noticed Eccellere, which was positioned directly to his inside, improving forward, he felt his mount would be able to shift in with that runner without him placing his mount under significant pressure. He stated that he allowed his mount to continue to roll forward in the early stages and ultimately obtained a position outside the leader approaching the 500m rather than being caught wide without cover. Tip Top was bumped by Missile Coda on jumping and then a short distance after, was checked when crowded between that runner and Manhattan Chic. Tip Top was held up rounding the home turn and did not fully obtain clear running for the major part of the straight. Alaskan Wolf was slow to begin. Missile Coda began awkwardly and made contact with Tip Top. When questioned regarding the filly settling in a midfield position, K McEvoy stated he was instructed to be in a more forward position, however after his mount shifted in at the start and made contact with Tip Top, and then when he was slightly impeded by Eccellere when that runner shifted in, he was unable to obtain a forward position and ultimately settled midfield. Missile Coda, which was closing the race off, was directed to the inside of the heels of Invienna passing the 100m to continue into clear running. Adjective approaching the 900m was steadied away from the heels of Alaskan Wolf due to both runners shifting ground slightly. Somebody when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, App E Webster-Hawes stated that the mare did not travel in the early and middle stages as well as it had when successful at its previous starts. She stated that Somebody came under pressure as far out as the 600m and was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish the race off. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr D Ryan will be interviewed relative to the disappointing performance of the mare. RACE 6 TAB Handicap 1900m Sebrarian change of tactics, option available to be ridden with cover just behind the leaders if possible. The Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons Sebrarian was eased out of the race approaching the 1200m and was ultimately found to have suffered cardiac failure and was reported to be deceased a short time later. Evidence was taken from co-trainer Mr A Bott, who advised that there had been no issues with Sebrarian in the lead up to today's race. Sebrarian will be transported to the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden for necropsy. Mr Bott was asked to provide the Stewards all treatment and veterinary records for Sebrarian and the matter was adjourned pending those reports and the necropsy conducted on the horse. Korodon bounded on jumping and lost ground. Tradtri was slow to begin. Lucky Legend from a wide barrier was shifted in across behind runners in the early stages. Lucky Legend, approaching the 400m, was disappointed for a run between Marman and Packen, both of which shifted ground. Lucky Legend had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight. Master Agar from a wide barrier was shifted in across behind runners in the early stages.
Artistic Beauty when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, B Avdulla stated he was obliged to settled further back in the field than what he had intended in an endeavour to obtain cover closer to the rail. He added that when tempo slackened in the middle stages, his mount commenced to race keenly for some distance near the 1000m and was restrained when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Korodon. He stated that Artistic Beauty did not respond to his urgings inside the 600m and in his opinion did not run out today's 1900m. He added that in his opinion, Artistic Beauty may also be better suited on ground with more give. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 7 Schweppes Handicap 1250m Dam Ready change of tactics to be ridden further forward; settled outside the leader. A post race veterinary examination revealed Dam Ready to have abraded both hind bumpers and lacerated the inside of the near fore cannon. Exoteric after being slow to begin was checked shortly after the start when crowded between Mapmaker and Static Lift. Radical Impact shortly after the start commenced to buck and was ultimately restrained out of the race in the early stages. Trainer Mr N Mitchell was advised that Radical Impact would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Braces from its wide barrier, when caught wide without cover in the early stages, was steadied and shifted in across behind runners to obtain cover. Braces, which was closing the race off well, was held up over the final 50m and not fully tested to the line. Mana approaching the first turn near the 700m was steadied when crowded for room by Exitozo, which shifted in away from Dam Ready (C Brown) when racing tight to the inside of the runner. C Brown was advised to ensure he provide sufficient racing room for runners positioned to his inside. When Exitozo was shifted out by its rider to relieve tightening to Mana, Static Lift, which was following Exitozo and positioned slightly to its outside, was hampered and taken wider by that runner. Viceroy, which was following Static Lift, had to be checked off the heels of that runner. Onslaught near the 200m was obliged to shift to the outside of Mana to continue into clear running. Mapmaker was obliged to shift to the inside of the heels of Viceroy approaching the 100m to continue into clear running. Viceroy approaching the 100m, when attempting to improve to the outside of Onslaught, was held up for a short distance when that runner shifted out slightly. GENERAL: Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Puppet Master, Supersphere, Tony s Reward, Sparky Lad. Race 2: Phuket, Rebel Miss (2). Race 3: Mandalong Kiss, Chicquita (2), Summit Breath. Race 4: Special Missile, Quick Defence, Sir Barb, Notio, Imanui. Race 5: Somebody, Woomera, Adjective.
