DERBY RULES AND REGULATIONS Changes from last year are HIGHLIGHTED The following rules and regulations apply to the Deer Lodge Demolition Derby: Derby Day - August 16, 2015 check in from 2:30 pm till 4:30 pm. Event starts at 6:00 pm at the Tri-County Fairgrounds, Deer Lodge, Montana. 1. Due to the surface cover of the arena GOGGLES OR HELMET FACE SHIELDS ARE REQUIRED. Glasses do not qualify, due to the fact that there is no way to verify they have safety lenses. 2. Demolition Derby cars must be at the fairgrounds at least one (1) hour before the start of the running of the derby (i.e. no later than 5 pm). 3. Car inspections start at 2:30 pm. Cars must be checked in by 4:30 pm. so inspection can take place prior to the 6 pm. derby start time. DRIVER AND PITMEN 1. Drivers and pitmen must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. 2. Drivers must furnish their own car or have someone sponsor their car. 3. American built sedans or station wagons allowed. NO jeeps, trucks, carryalls, or convertibles. 4. Driver may enter each heat BUT must have a DIFFERENT CAR for each heat entered. 5. NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS ALLOWED IN THE PITS. NO DRIVER OR PIT CREW WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PIT AREA IF UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS. ENTRY FEE 1. One (1) car, one (1) driver and two (2) pit crew, pre-registered by 5:00 pm August 14, 2015 - $45 One (1) car, one (1) driver and two (2) pit crew register after August 14, 2015 - $50 Additional $10.00 each, for the third and fourth pit crew. Four pit crew maximum. 2. All drivers and pit crew MUST SIGN the responsibility release form PRIOR to the derby. 3. If your car is disqualified because of rule(s) infraction the entry fee WILL NOT BE REFUNDED! HEATS, MAIN EVENT & HERBY DERBY 1. The total number of cars entered in the Main Event and Herby Derby will be divided into heats. Cars will be placed in heats as they enter the pit area. 2. The last three cars active from each heat will advance to the Final. 3. If there are insufficient numbers of cars to hold a fourth heat, there will be a consolation heat run for all cars that didn't make it to the Final, if time allows. The top two finishers of the consolation heat will advance to the Final. There will be no heat money paid for the top two finishers of the consolation race. 4. Herby Derby Event: We will have heats and a Herby Derby Final after the qualifying heats and before the Main. 6. Driver may have no more than four (4) pit crew, total. 7. Driver and all pit crew must sign entry blank and release prior to Derby. NOTE: DEMOLITION DERBY STARTS AT 6 P.M. CHECK-IN TIME 2:30 4:30 P.M. TRI-COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS

REMOVAL OF CARS Each driver MUST remove or have their car removed from the fairgrounds, immediately after the Derby. Cars remaining on the fairgrounds property, twenty-four (24) hours after the Derby, will automatically become the property of the Powell County Chamber of Commerce. PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS 1. All drivers must attend the Drivers Meeting prior to the Derby. No pit crew will be allowed into the Drivers Meeting. 2. After the Drivers Meeting, if there are any questions concerning the derby, they may be brought forth by the DRIVER ONLY. Harassment of the Derby Officials by drivers, pit crew, etc., will not be tolerated and will be cause for disqualification of driver, pit crew and car, and removal from the derby area by security. Pit crew's behavior will be the responsibility of the DRIVER. 3. Drivers may maneuver forward and backward (1st and reverse gear only). 4. NO INTENTIONALLY hitting opponent's car on the driver's door. 5. If a driver does not hit another car within two (2) minute, that driver will be disqualified, and must break off the 36" slat that will be attached to drivers side windshield post. 6. Driver must remain in the car until the car is removed by the tow-truck, unless they are injured or in immediate danger, e.g. fire, steam leak into car interior, broken battery, gas leak, and/or rolled on side or top. 7. As soon as the one heat is on the track, the next heat must line up at the entrance to the Derby arena, leaving enough room for the preceding heat to exit. Cars not lined up immediately will not get into the heat. This is the responsibility of the DRIVER & PIT CREW. There is one (1) exception to this rule. Those cars leaving the last heat will be given fifteen minutes to prepare their car for the consolation heat. 8. Judges decisions are final on winners and disqualifications. PREPARATION OF CARS 1. Slogans, advertising or printing may be placed on the car, except for an 18" X 18" space on both front doors, roof & trunk. These areas are reserved for numbers. (All slogans must be in good taste so as not to offend our spectators, other drivers and pit crew. If a slogan is considered to be Not in Good Taste, the driver will be required to paint over the slogan or be disqualified.) 2.A. Cars may be painted any color; numbers need to be painted on drivers and passenger doors, roof & trunk. Numbers must contrast in color with the body color and be noticeably readable to the naked eye at 100 yards. 2.B. Driver s door MUST contrast with the body paint, Driver s door number MUST be noticeably readable to the naked eye at 100 yards. Cars not meeting these criteria will either be repainted or disqualified. 3. Car numbers can be changed by the officials if duplicate numbers are used. If you want a specific number and it has been assigned, you may select another number or have a letter follow your number. Letters can also be used in place of numbers. 4. ALL GLASS, CHROME, PLASTIC, LIGHT ASSEMBLY'S must be removed from the inside and outside of your car BEFORE going to the fairgrounds. 5. Standard gas tanks must be removed. Maximum of five (5) gallons of gas allowed in replacement tank. Replacement gas tanks must be relocated to the back seat area and properly secured. 6. Batteries MUST be relocated to an area away from the driver and secured. 7. All gas tanks and batteries must be covered with rubber to avoid punctures.

8. Radiators and fans may be removed, but not relocated. 9. Bumpers and fenders may be cut/trimmed. 10. Windshield opening must have a minimum of one (1) vertical support to prevent hood from coming through the windshield opening. 11. Hood MUST NOT be welded shut and must not be bolted down prior to inspection. Car hoods can have eight (8) attachments, chains, bolts, pins or angle irons. No larger than 4 washers are to be used on the car hoods. Angle iron is not to be taller than 2 and no longer than 4. 12. The hood must be chained or bolted shut after inspection. 13. Chains can only be a single wrap of 5/16" or smaller chain. 14. The hood must have an access hole to the carburetor area at least 12" in diameter. Carburetor cannot be obstructed!!!! 15. NO SPECIAL BUMPERS, extra weight, trailer hitches, airlift shocks, blocks, shackles or any reinforcements. All trunks must be free of all debris, spare parts/etc. 16. Driver s Cage can be built with two (2) crossbars. Crossbars MUST be side to side with one dash bar and one directly behind the driver s seat. Bars can be connected front to rear. H Bars, or Halo Bars, may also be used behind the driver s seat. BARS ARE NOT TO EXCEED 4 INCHES IN DIAMETER. Anything considered excessive will be classified as re-enforcement and hence illegal. ALL CRITERIA MUST BE MET BEFORE CHECKING IN..... 19. Safety belts and helmets are required. Safety belts will be anchored to the floor, behind the driver s seat. 20. Driver s seat must be secured. 21. NO DRIVER OR PIT CREW will be allowed to participate while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. No drugs or alcohol will be allowed in the pit area. 22. No pit crew will be allowed in the arena during the Heats or Main Event. 23. All vehicles will be inspected in assembly area before entering the arena. 24. Any car determined to be unsafe, at the sole discretion of the inspectors, will be disqualified. 25. The hood must have an access hole to the carburetor area at least 12" in diameter. Carburetor cannot be obstructed!!!! 26. The driver's door must be reinforced with bar or grader blade type metal. 27. Due to the arena cover (coarse sand) HELMET FACE SHIELDS or GOGGLES are required. Glasses do not qualify, due to the fact that there is no way to verify they have safety lenses. HERBY DERBY: 1. Tires no more than 25 high. 2. Wheel base not to exceed 105. 17. SHEET METAL, OR ANY METAL MATERIAL, WILL NOT QUALIFY IF WELDED TO BODY FOR RE-INFORCEMENT. YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF YOU FAIL TO HEED THIS WARNING! 18. All doors and trunks must be chained, welded or bolted shut. If not accomplished, this will be cause for disqualification. ALL CRITERIA MUST BE MET BEFORE CHECKING IN.....

Driver s check Official INSPECTION CHECKLIST use FRONT PART OF CAR IS (MAKE) (MODEL) Remove all glass, outside plastic, headliner, chrome & rear seat. Five (5) gallon gas tank securely installed and covered with rubber. Original gas tank removed, or large holes in tank. Absolutely NO smell of gas in tank. Battery securely mounted and covered with rubber. All doors welded, chained or bolted. Drivers door reinforced. All debris must be removed from inside car. Seats must be secured. Seat belts installed including shoulder belt. (Qualifiers! Jerk HARD on bolts to check if secure at top and bottom.) No special bumpers, extra weight, reinforcement, trailer hitches, air shocks, blocks or shackles. Radiator cannot be relocated. Trunk lids can be welded but back seat must be open so trunk area can in inspected. Goggles or face shields must be worn (NOT Glasses). Arena is a sand surface. Goggles are for the protection of the drivers. MUST BE IN CAR DURING INSPECTION. Tires must be passenger car or light truck tires no larger than 235 75X15 LT or 700X15. Herby Derby cars tire height no more than 25 high and wheelbase not to exceed 105. Hoods: No more than 8 attachments. Chains not to exceed 5/16, bolts with 4 washers. Angle iron no more than 2 high x 4 long. Can be welded closed only if no re-enforcements are under or within the weld. If hood is welded, opening must be at least 3 feet by 3 feet over carburetor without obstructions. Car numbers must be on both doors, trunk and roof of car. Number will be in a contrasting color to the door or body paint and readable to the naked eye at 100 yards. If Driver s Cage is fitted, please check that it conforms to all regulations in section 16.
