She also hit a grand slam in the game. LOOKING TO MAKE THEIR MOVE In the past few years, the Minutewomen have fared well since returning from its final trip to Florida. Including this year, UMass is 191-19-1 (.908) overall since the 1999 season after playing their final tournament in Florida. Here is a look at the past six seasons. 1999: 6-2 at Florida State Invitational won 35 of next 37 games 2000: 4-2 at Florida State Invitational won 26 of next 31 games 2001: 3-2 at Speedline Invitational won 24 in a row and 37 of next 39 games 2002: 5-3 at FIU Blue & Gold Classic won 33 in a row and 38 of next 39 games 2003: 2-2 at FIU Blue & Gold Classic won 14 in a row and 27 of next 31 games 2004: 3-2 at FIU Blue & Gold Classic won 13 in a row and 24 of next 26 games 2005: 4-2 at Speedline Invitational 4-3-1 so far since then HOME FIELD DOMINANCE While Massachusetts saw its 73 game home winning streak come to an end in last year s A-10 Tournament, the Minutewomen are still 86-5-1 (.940) alltime at the UMass Softball Complex and have a 74-game unbeaten regular season home winning streak. On March 31, 2005, UMass and Dartmouth tied 2-2. The game was called after seven innings due ti darkness. The Minutewomen are 43-2 against league foes at the UMass Softball Complex. Here is a statistical breakdown of how the Minutewomen have fared alltime at the UMass Softball Complex. LaFogg was perfect for six and twothirds innings before the 21st batter, Kelly Fry, hit a double off the centerfield wall. There have been eight perfect games all-time in UMass history. The 15 k s was the most all-time at the UMass Softball Complex breaking Kaila H o l t z s mark of 13 set against St. Bonaventure on April 25, 2003. In game two of the doubleheader against the Big Green, junior pitcher Jenna Busa fanned a career-high 14 batters. UMass had 29 strikeouts total in the doubleheader against Dartmouth. LaFogg has reached double-figure strikeouts in four games now this season. She leads the Atlantic 10 with 93 strikeouts, an average of 1.1 k s per inning. LP S STREAKING Lauren Proctor has hit safely in the past 12 games from the No. 6 spot in the order for the Minutewomen. The freshman outfielder is hitting.417 (15-36) with two doubles, six RBI and two stolen bases in those 12 games. Proctor had a career-high three hits, including her first double, March 19 against Villanova. TWO OUTS NO PROBLEM So Far in 2005, Massachusetts is proving to be a very clutch two-out team. Of the 83 runs that the Minutewomen have scored, 55 (66 percent) of them have come after there were two outs in the inning. More impressively, 38 of those runs have occurred in an inning which started with two outs and nobody on base. KJ Kelley leads the team with 12 twoout RBI and a.500 (12-24) batting average with two down. Lauren Proctor is also hitting.391 (9-23) while Pam Sulick has a.389 (7-18) average with two down. DENIS SWING IS BACK Denise Denis demonstrated last month in Boca Raton, Fla., what UMass fans became accustomed to last year streak hitting. The Middle Grove, N.Y., native broke out of a slump against Bethune Cookman on March 6 with a RBI triple and has been on fire since then. In the 16 games since then, Denis is hitting.356 (16-45) with three doubles, a triple, four home runs, 20 RBI and eight runs scored. That all equates to a.733 slugging percentage. Denis has three, three-hit games this year and six game-winning RBI. She also had six multi-rbi games. Denis set career-highs with two home runs and five RBI in game one of a doubleheader March 26 at Dayton. For the season, Denis is fifth on the team hitting.386. She leads the team and is second in the A-10 with 20 RBI and is tied for the lead with her four home runs. KELLEY CLOSING IN Junior catcher KJ Kelley is now just one home run away from tying the school record of 26 which is held by Scooter Wheeler and Brandi Cross.
