16 17 Storage and Handling Single Carcass Catenary Hose The EMSTEC Single Carcass Catenary hoses are used in high integrity floating offloading installations such as FPSO, FSO tandem offloading to DP Shuttle Tankers (i.e. Reel, Chute, Cantilever hang-off arrangements). Hose Construction: Liner Tube - NBR based Rubber, resistant to hydrocarbons with aromatic content up to 60%. Main Carcass - Elastomer reinforced with multi-layers of high tensile textile cords and embedded steel wire helix. Floatation Material (Floating Hoses only) - Closed Cell Foam Outer Cover - Fibre reinforced smooth elastomer cover, resistant to ageing, abrasion, weathering, sunlight, tearing and oil and seawater penetration. The Single Carcass Catenary Hoses range includes: 21410 SCSC - End Reinforced (i.e. FPSO) 21430 SCSC - Main Line - Controlled / Neutral Buoyancy (for special applications) EMSTEC hoses are designed to be robust under the harsh conditions of the marine environment, however, they can be damaged from improper handling on land or sea. When handling hoses adequate support is key to preventing over-bending (kinking), which can lead to damage and premature hose retirement. Lifting The recommended method of lifting a single hose section is to use a spreader bar and lifting straps and then set down the hose on adequate supports. The spreader bar provides a three point lift with a strap over the nipple area at each end and additional strapping, as appropriate, spaced equally between the end straps on hoses up to 12.2 metres long. Lifting straps should be flat nylon or equivalent reinforced cloth bands, and at least 150mm wide to prevent localised damage and chafing of the hose cover. Wire ropes are completely unsuitable for use as lifting straps. Hose Storage During storage, a hose may be affected by temperature, humidity, ozone, sunlight, oils, solvents, corrosive liquids and vapours, insects and rodents. Ideally hoses should be stored in cool, dark, dry areas on steel framed pallets in accordance with the OCIMF Guide to Purchasing, Manufacturing and Testing of Loading and Discharge Hoses for Offshore Moorings. These pallets prevent damage or distortion to hoses, which may occur if stored directly on the ground. Storage on pallets also facilitates examination and makes the hose markings easily accessible. For locations where extreme temperatures apply, especially very cold locations, additional measures may be necessary such as storing the hoses in a climatically controlled warehouse. During storage the ends of the hoses should be covered with wooden blanks with 4 x 15mm diameter holes in the centre secured with heavy duty electrical ties, to allow for air circulation and to prevent internal attack by rodents. Nuts and bolts are not recommended as they can become corroded and seized and, therefore, difficult to remove after periods of long term storage. 21420 SCSC - Main Line 21440 SCSC - End Reinforced (i.e. Shuttle Tanker) Hose lengths should always be laid out straight, with wide supports on level ground. Such supports will provide easy access for the insertion of hose lifting slings under and around the hose. The hose lengths are marked with serial number, month and year of manufacture. These details are vulcanised into the hose outer cover and also welded onto the flange rims offset by 180. They should be carefully recorded to ensure that the oldest hose is issued first and that a rotational system of deployment is employed. After being used a hose should be drained and flushed out with water and then returned to a suitable storage environment.

18 19 Ancillary Items Offspring International supplies a range of ancillary items enabling the safe installation and operation of offloading hoses. Hose Pick-up and Hang-off Chains Used to lift and secure the Floating Hose oil transfer system in place, the Hose Pick-Up and Hang-Off chain can be configured to accommodate both standard and project specific loading hose sizes. The galvanised chains are resistant to seawater corrosion. Hose Floats Manufactured from polyethylene foam covered with a seamless polyurethane elastomer skin, the hose floats are resistant to impact, abrasion, UV degradation and chemical attack making them extremely durable in service. Designed for ease of deployment and installation, the floats can be customised for both surface and subsea applications. Spool Pieces Spool Pieces are manufactured from galvanised steel and suitable for Class 150 ANSI, Class 300 ANSI, and other flange types. Comprising two WNF Flanges, the spool pieces are supplied with or without lifting lugs. Camlock Couplings The Camlock Coupling flanges are designed to enable automatic location of the hose flange within the cam blocks, enabling a quick swift and hazard-free connection and disconnection. It is suitable for Class 150 ANSI flanges, Class 300 ANSI, DIN and other flange types. Existing flange or pipe arrangements can be used with the Camlock Coupling. The Camlock Coupling is constructed from nickel-plated and painted carbon steel or stainless steel; other materials are available to special order. The flange s O ring face seal provides a leak resistant connection and is available in a range of elastomeric rubber materials dependent on the product in transfer. Locking, tightening and releasing the coupling is simplicity itself - a round steel bar, or optional locking wrench, is all that s needed. The Camlock Couplings include optional cam guards, lifting lugs and special paint finishes. Butterfly Valves Rubber Lined, Type ITS (Wafer Type) Butterfly Valves are available for Class 150 ANSI, Class 300 ANSI, DIN and other flange types. These can be supplied in a range of sizes to suit specific project requirements, together with elastomeric rubber seals resistant to the product in transfer. Blind Flanges Blind Flanges in aluminium and galvanised steel to protect the hose when not in service, can be supplied. Designed for Class 150 ANSI, although Class 300 ANSI, DIN and many other flange types, the flanges prevent seawater entering the hose. Hose Repair Kit Inevitably hoses will incur some damage during service. Major damage, such as kinking, broken helix wires collapsed linings, for example, should be cause for immediate retirement of the hose. However, minor damage to the outer cover can be successfully repaired, often with the hose in-situ on the hose reel, using a variety of hose repair techniques. The hose repair kit used to repair areas of minor outer cover damage includes:: Belzona 2311 SR Elastomer Belzona 2911 / 2921 GP Conditioner Belzona 9111 Cleaner/Degreaser Belzona 9341 reinforcing tape Steel wire brush Belzona mixing spatula Small disposable working surface Small short-bristle brush.

20 21 Oiltech Surge Protector Oiltech Winker Light Unexpected pressure surges during moored buoy loading operations can pose a significant risk to crew, the environment and loading hoses and pipelines. The Surge Protector from single point mooring technology company, Oiltech, is designed to protect export terminal hoses, pipeline and buoy from the effects of pressure surges. Until now, surge protection has either been monitored on board the single point moored (SPM) buoy, or even worse at the shore pumping station. By the time the Surge event is detected and the shore pump s stopped, it s often too late to prevent damage to subsea hoses and pipeline. The Oiltech Surge Protector (patent pending) offers a smarter and more sensitive way of detecting and automatically responding to pressure surges. The Oiltech Surge Protector comprises a portable, self-contained Manifold Pressure Monitoring System (MPMS) deployed to the tanker, and linked remotely via VHF / UHF, to a terminal-based control station connected to the pumping station. Attached to the tanker hose s camlocks, the pressure sensor unit monitors hose pressure, continuously sending pressure data to the control station. If the hose line pressure increases above a pre-set threshold, this is detected by the control station, which automatically shuts down the terminal transfer pumps. As the Oiltech Surge Protector is portable and deployed at the ship s manifold, the unit is ideally suited for use at CBM or MBM systems as well as at SPM terminals to provide a higher degree of safety for all loading operations. Oiltech Surge Protection system offers: Fast response - detection of overpressure to shutdown - less than 2 seconds Pressure monitoring at the hose manifolds provides a wider dynamic range and fast detection Encrypted data transmission telemetry via VHF / UHF radio depending on local conditions for continuous pressure monitoring and ESD (Emergency Shut Down) initiation Standalone MPMS unit or can be readily integrated into buoy monitoring system. Marine floating hoses form a critical part of many oil and gas installations. However, collisions with marine craft are a major danger to these hoses. Brightly coloured marine hoses attract attention during daylight hours but at night they can be invisible to the naked eye. Oiltech s state-of-the-art LED Floating Hose Lights at intervals along the length of the hose provide a flashing warning light alerting vessels of the floating hose. Mounted on top of the composite body, the hose light is fully submersible and the internal solar power generator provides 1-3nm output for up to 5 years maintenance free operation. The composite body, with stainless steel cage and fasteners, is also maintenance free. The Oiltech hose light is easy to install, as there are no heavy steel parts other than the mounting bracket that is bolted to the flange during hose assembly. 22 23 EMSTEC Double Carcass Hose Leak Detection System In accordance with the OCIMF Guide to Manufacturing and Purchasing Hoses for Offshore Moorings, (GMPHOM) 5th ed, 2009, all EMSTEC double carcass hoses include a leak detection system allowing the operator to determine when there has been a leak from the primary carcass of a double carcass hose. The EMSTEC leak detection system is a pressure compensated, stainless steel visual leak detection indicator located at each end of the hose section. The system is seawater resistant, functional at low pressure, maintenance-free and proven to be very reliable. EMSTEC can also provide double carcass hoses with their patented remote monitoring system, allowing the operator to be alerted to a hose failure both locally and remotely. This system incorporates a detection device at each hose end connected by a pressurized line, helically wound along the hose length and embedded within the hose outer cover so as to become integral to the hose. Each detection device is connected to its corresponding hose end. The monitoring unit on the hose flange is connected via a jumper hose to an alarm box / bleed unit. This unit provides a pressurized supply of luminous fluid to the detection device / indicator line. If a monitoring unit is activated it will discharge luminous fluid at 5 bar, providing visual warning of a hose failure. In addition, a pressure switch within the alarm box will activate an audible / visual alarm and send a signal to initiate a cargo pump shutdown.
