The Clubhouse will be open 9am 5pm serving a 2/3 course lunch. VINTAGE SPORTS-CAR CLUB (VSCC) SATURDAY 12 & SUNDAY 13 APRIL 2014 The following weekend is the VSCC Spring Start the traditional season opener for vintage and historic motor sport. The Clubhouse will be open 9am 6pm both days serving a 2/3 course. To book lunch for either of these meetings please contact Silverstone Hospitality on 01327 or WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY 18, SATURDAY 19 & SUNDAY 20 APRIL 2014 We are expecting a busy weekend over Easter when the World Endurance Championship visits Silverstone. This very popular event features a large number of Members who will be mixing it with the best sports car drivers in the world. Once again the winners of the Silverstone 1000kms will be awarded the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy. This year also, thanks to the generosity of Richard Piper and Philippa Lloyd, the highest placed BRDC Member/s (including Honorary Member/s) in the race will be awarded the Richard Lloyd Trophy. The Clubhouse is open on Friday 18 April, which is Good Friday, for official practice. A 2/3 course lunch will be served. There will be a number of additional guests from the Royal Automobile Club present on Friday also. Lunch on Saturday will be a 2/3 course lunch and the Clubhouse will host an informal drinks reception for the Club de Pilotes du Mans at midday on the first floor. Sunday will, of course, be the busiest day so please do remember to book the carvery in advance if you would like lunch (and to secure the Members discounted rate). Thanks to the generosity of the President, The President s Suite will be open in the Wing for the use of Members and their accompanying guest on all three days. Tea and coffee will be served. Minibus shuttles will run from the Clubhouse all weekend and The President s Suite is accessed through Wing Entrance 3 from the Paddock. BRDC MERS TRACK DAY MONDAY 7 APRIL 2014 There are still a handful of places available on the Members track day being held next Monday 7 April. VIRGIN LONDON MARATHON - SUNDAY 13 APRIL 2014 The BRDC team in the London Marathon has been somewhat decimated by injuries but Jonny Kane, Marc Hynes and Club Secretary, Stuart Pringle, will line up in 10 days time. SAHARA FORCE INDIA F1 FACTORY TOUR & BRDC CLUBHOUSE LUNCH FRIDAY 2 MAY 2014 There are still places available on the factory tour of Silverstone based Sahara Force India F1 on Friday 2 May. Members will be welcomed with a company history and tour to the following areas (subject to sensitivity at time of visit): Testing, Assembly, Engine Room, Car Build, Race Bays, Simulator Room, Composites & Fabrications and the Truck Park. There will be two tours during the day starting at 10.30am and 3pm respectively. Please state your preference at booking. Numbers are limited so please do make your booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Due to the popularity of factory visits, the day is only open to Members and not to guests. Either side of the two tours there will be lunch in the BRDC Clubhouse from 12.30pm. This year s Monaco lunch will return to The Grill on the top floor of the Hotel de Paris on Wednesday 21 May. The views of the harbour are stunning and the food world class. Tickets cost 110 (inc VAT) per person which includes Champagne reception, three course lunch with wine and coffee. There will be a guest speaker (TBC) and small charity auction. DATES FOR DIEARY BRDC PRESIDENT S GOLF DAY TUESDAY 3 JUNE 2014 in support of Cancer Research UK The President is really keen to encourage a strong turnout at his annual Club golf day. Following the success of last year s event the BRDC President s Golf Day 2014 will return to Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Park course in Epsom, Surrey on Tuesday 3 June. As well as being great fun and very social the day will raise funds for Cancer Research UK. You will have the opportunity to Beat the Pro, the chance to purchase a Mulligan or two but you could be fined for landing in a bunker! We ll also have some great prizes available. NOTICE OF DEATH TONY BIRCHENHOUGH It is with regret that the Club has to announce the death of Life Member, Tony Birchenhough, at the age of 79 on 26 March 2014. Tony raced under his team banner Dorset Racing Associates and enjoyed five finishes at Le Mans including winning the Thermal Efficiency Cup on three occasions. Other sports car achievements included 1 st in Class at Enna, Spa and in the Angola 3 Hours. Condolences have been sent to Tony s wife Kay. There will be a private funeral held at home on Friday 4 April.
