DAILY BULLETIN. 3 DAY Ежедневный бюллетень чемпионата/ ДЕНЬ 3 Russian team lost to Chinese Taipei in the semifinal of the FISU World University Championship On the 14 th of September Russian badminton players lost to the badminton players from Chinese Taipei in the semifinal of the FISU world Championship. The Championship is held in Ramenskoe in Moscow region. According to the first game Russian mixed Evgeniya Kosetskaya and Anatoliy Yartsev have lost to Tshe Huei Li and Ti Tszunu (21:16, 16:21, 20:22) though the third game had one matchpoint. Moreover when there was a draw the line judge pointed to the Russian court. But the Umpire cancelled his decision. Then Denis Grachev who played the men single has taken the place of Sergey Sirant lost to the player from Taipei Lin U-Xienu (14-21, 16-21). The third match was too hard. Russian men double Ivan Sozonov/Vasiliy Kuznetsov have lost to Tse Huei Li and Yan Li (18:21, 21:19, 16:21). After another semifinal Chinese team has beaten the South Korean team 3-1.
Ivan Sozonov from the Russian team says that today we have played against serious competitors. Unfortunately Vasiliy Kuznetsov do not often play against such fast competitors. We had chances to win. We led the third game, we really had a good start. Now we are going to find out what had happened. It was such an emotional game against Japan yesterday. But I can t say that we are demobilized or psychologically exhausted. We had a matchpoint and we could win. In general we have won bronze medals. But I feel a little bit sad because we had a chance to get the better medal. Tamara Migalina, the coach of the Russian team says that sportsmen showed their best but they were unlucky especially in a mixed game. Kosetskaya and Yartsev were not weaker than their competitors. During the single game we felt that Taipei was better, men double also had a good chance to win. After the game against Japan which was yesterday we went out of the hall full of happiness and we were ready for today s game. I would like to speak words of praise to our sportsmen. At the moment we were able to show our best playing. Yan Li from the Chinese Taipei says that Russian team has good players. In spite of winning three games I can t say that it was an easy victory. Russian team has a good technique and excellent physical strength. It was difficult to play against them because they are taller than our sportsmen. It was really difficult to catch their clears. It is difficult to defend when they attack. I can also say that Russia is the winner despite the score. In our country is very popular. Every second or even every first plays badminton. It is the part of our educational process so it makes our sportsmen so competitive in the world. There were games for the places 9-12. The 9 th place was given to Poland which team has beaten Canada (3:0). The 11 th was the team of India who has beaten the team from Sri Lanka.
It s FISU World University Badminton Championship! Chinese Taipei has a gold medal. China has a silver medal. Russian Federation and Republic of Korea have bronze medals. Badminton players from Taipei have beaten the Chinese team in the final of the Team Event at the FISU World University Badminton Championship. After the mixed double from China Dunpin Huan and Lintszun Chzhann have lost to Hsin Tien Chan and Chan Ko Chi (10:21, 16:21). In the second game Chinese Go Kai in the men single has lost to Tsu-Vei Van (14:21, 12:21). In the last third game Taipei Tse Huei Li and Yan Li have beaten Tzintsu Li and Lintszunu Chzhann (21:9, 23:25, 21:4). So Russian and South Korean teams have won bronze medals. They have lost to Taipei and China. There was an awarding ceremony after the end of the final game. Yan Li from Chinese Taipei says that it was the first World Championship which she has taken part in. I was so nervous. It is an important event for me. The game for the gold medal was hard and easy at the same time. It was easy because my competitor made a lot of mistakes during the first game, but it was difficult for us to play the second part. Our competitor played well but we began to make mistakes. So we lost our victory. But during our last game we controlled the game and won! The next individual games I ll be ready to win! I m sure I ll be the champion! Go Kai from China says, I started quite well but I always felt pressure of my competitor and I was not confident. I was nervous. First 2 games I showed resistance but in the end I could not stand against my competitor. But of course I do not try to justify myself because I played against Chinese Taipei. Asian countries have similar way of playing. I could guess his actions and played better! I ll prepare better for my Individual games. I think I have a chance to get a medal!
After the Team Event there will be Individual Event which will start on Friday, the 16 th of September. The Championship will be finished on Sunday, the 18 th of September.
