Conditions for the Major Trophies for Men Club Championships A Match Play Competition with NO handicap allowance played in four grades from the Championship (Blue) Tees with the exception of the Presidents Grade (White). Entries are required by the due date and the Match Committee will set the grades following the close of entry. Open to financial full members only. Seeding for the 1 st round draw will be established by the gross score achieved in the 1 st Bonnington Cup qualifying round. Any entry not competing in the Bonnington Cup will be included in the draw in handicap order as determined by the entry closure date. Each round must be completed by the specified date as set by the Match Committee. Changes to the round completion dates will be exceptional and need prior approval by the Match Committee. Players will not be granted alterations to the completion date because of adverse weather. Finals will be played on Club Finals Day. Senior, Intermediate and Junior grade finals to be played over 36 holes from the Championship Tees. The Presidents grade final to be played over 18 holes from the White Tees. Bonnington Cup A Handicap Match Play trophy played off the Championship (Blue) Tees. Entries are required to play 36 holes of qualification. The best 16 Nett Scores qualify for the 1 st round draw. Two 18- hole qualification rounds will be included in the club programme. However it is acceptable for entrants to play 36 holes on either of the qualifying round dates but the Match Committee should be advised beforehand. The draw will be posted with completion dates for each round. Match Play rounds are over 18 holes (Blue Tees) with the Final over 36 holes (Blue Tees) played on Club Finals Day. 5

Knockout Cup A Match Play competition played with Handicap Allowance. Played over 18 holes in each round from the White Tees. Entries are required by the due date and the Match committee will set three grades for the competition. The draw will be posted with completion dates for each round. Finals, over 18 holes, are to be played on Club Finals Day. Pairs Championship Players select own partners, but players without partners can enter and will have partners drawn. An 18 hole qualifying round will be held using the Championship (Blue) Tees. The top 16 pairs, based on their combined Nett Scores, qualify for the draw. Matches are then played over 18 holes (Blue Tees) in a four-ball best ball format. If the match is all square after 18 holes a sudden death playoff is undertaken with strokes as for the first 18 holes. For Match play, the lowest handicapped player plays off scratch and other players receive the difference between the handicap of the lowest handicapped player and their own. The Final should be played on Finals day unless this creates a clash with other Finals. Maindonald Trophy Players select own partners, but players without partners can enter and will have partners drawn. A Foursome competition played from White Tees over 36 holes on one day, the winners being the pair with the best Nett Aggregate. The pair s handicap will be half their combined handicap. If there is a tie, an immediate sudden death playoff on the day will determine the winners. Alteration of the tee shots must change for the second 18 holes. 6

L C Coe Trophy An 18 hole match play competition for men who are full members with a NZGA Handicap Index and are aged 55 years or over. Entries are required with all entries being placed in a draw. Play is from White Tees. The Final can be played on or before Finals day. Symington Cup Awarded to the player with the best Nett score in a Saturday competition round over the period from Opening Day to one week before Finals day. Bud Barton Trophy Awarded to the Most Improved Golfer over the period from Opening Day to one week before Finals Day. Ron Angland Memorial Trophy Awarded to the player with the Best Nett Aggregate based on their best 4 rounds out of the 8 identified rounds. Roo Beldham Challenge Cup Awarded to the Top Qualifier in the Bonnington Cup competition, being the Best Nett Aggregate over the 2 Qualifying rounds. Grandfathers Trophy: Barbara Joyce Trophy An 18 hole Stableford Competition played from White Tees open to all Grandfathers with a NZGA Handicap. Ringers All full members are eligible to enter the Ringers competition, which is played over the course of the golf Season. An entry fee is appropriate. An Eclectic competition, records the lowest score, both Gross and Nett, on each hole over the season. Trophies are available for both the Gross Ringer and the Nett Ringer. 7

Summer Championships A 2 round Stroke Play competition played on consecutive Saturdays. Played on full handicap from Championship (Blue) Tees in 4 grades, Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Ladies as specified by the Match Committee based on the size of the field. Entry is required on the day of the first round of the competition. There will be a separate prize for the best Gross score over the full field. Summer Pairs Championship A Stableford competition played during Summer Golf will form the Summer Pairs Championship. Entries will be taken on the day of competition and all players, including Ladies will complete their round using full handicap and stableford scoring. Ladies will receive additional shots added to their handicap as specified by the Match committee. After completion, a draw will be made to identify pairs from the full field. The Pair with the best Stableford score will be the winners. In the event of a tie, a count back system will be set by the Match committee. 8

Mixed Competitions and Trophies Harley Cup Entries are required by the due date. Players select their own partners. Handicap is half the combined handicap. In all calculations a fraction of half or more shall count as a full stroke. Mixed pairs play in an 18 holes foursome qualifying round if necessary. The top 16 nett scores will qualify for Match Play. If match is all-square after 18 holes, sudden death play-off will follow immediately. Strokes are as first round. Open to members with a NZGA Handicap Index (Ladies Maximum handicap Index 40.4). Moorhead Cup A Husband and Wife 18 hole combined Stableford competition. Hamilton Trophy (Summer Season) Awarded to the player (male or female) with the best nett aggregate over 6 rounds played in the Saturday competition between the start of Summer Golf and one week before Opening Day. 9

SISTER CLUBS We have a Sister club relationship with five other clubs: Amberley, Geraldine, Lower Waitaki, Waimari Beach and Hokitika. If you wish to play at any of these courses, it would be good etiquette to ring beforehand to check that the course is available. Some of the courses require you to book in a time as they can be busy. When you get to the course if it is unattended, then you will need to write, in the Green Fee book, your name and Club ID Number, and put in Sister Club where it says the amount of money. You may also play in their competitions by paying only the entry fee for the day. eg our fee is usually $5.00. Please do not abuse this relationship as it has been negotiated between the two clubs in good faith. While you are on the course please observe all acceptable etiquette as you are representing Ellesmere Golf Club LOCAL RULES FOR ELLESMERE Stones on the course are loose impediments and can be removed, without moving the ball. There are also stone areas. Players may take relief from stone areas (Immovable obstructions Rule 24.2) by dropping a ball within one club length at the nearest point of relief from stones. Relief, when taken, must be for stance and swing. Players may choose to play the ball as it lies. See other local rules on the card or on the noticeboard 36
