UHMS/NOAA DIVING PHYSICIANS COURSE US NAVY NO-DECOMPRESSION TABLES REVIEW Note: Use the NOAA Air Diving Table for all questions. Question #1: You have just completed a dive to 103 fsw (31.4 msw) for 12 minutes. You are on the surface for 1 hours and 45 minutes and want to make a repetitive dive to 100 fsw (30.5 msw) without decompression. What s the maximum bottom time allowed on the repetitive dive? Answer #1: 14 minutes E 1:45 C H 103 110/:14 100 100 /:25 :12 ABT :11 RNT RNT + :14 ABT :25 ESDT 1

Question #2: Following a dive to 85 feet (26 msw) for 22 minutes and a surface interval of 3½ hours, what is the deepest depth to which a diver may dive for at least 30 minutes with no required decompression? Answer #2: 70 FSW (21.4 MSW) G 3:30 C J 85 90 /:24 70 70 /:47 :22 ABT :16 RNT RNT + :30 ABT :46 ESDT 2

Question #3: You want to conduct a fifth dive of the day at 65 fsw (19.8 msw). Prior to this dive, you completed four dives to 65 fsw (19.8 msw) for 10, 10, 10, and 10 minutes respectfully. All five dives were made very close together (i.e. < 10 minutes) and you did not keep any surface interval times. In order for all dives to be conducted as no-decompression dives, what must the bottom time of the fifth dive be limited to? Question #4: You make a dive to 75 fsw (22.9 msw) for 20 minutes. After 08 minutes on the surface, you make another dive to the same depth. Ignoring the time on the surface, determine the maximum bottom time allowed on the second dive if you want to keep within the nodecompression limits. You want to make a third dive to the same depth and need a minimum of 25 minutes bottom time. What would be the minimum surface interval required in order to keep the third dive within the no-decompression limits? Answer #4: 6:07 SIT :08 J 6:07 C J 75 75 80 /:39 75 80 /:39 :20 ABT :20 RNT :14 RNT + :19 ABT + :25 ABT :39 ESDT :39 ESDT 4

Question #5: You wish to complete the three dives listed below. What are the minimum surface intervals required to complete the dives without decompression? Dive #1 depth = 90 fsw (27.5 msw), actual bottom time = :22 minutes Dive #2 depth = 80 fsw (24.4 msw), actual bottom time = :15 minutes. Dive #3 depth = 60 fsw (18.3 msw), actual bottom time = :30 minutes ESDT Answer #5: 1:45 SIT & 4:22 SIT G 1:45 E J 4:22 E K 90 90 /:24 80 80 /:39 60 60 /:60 :22 ABT :22 RNT :29 RNT + :15 ABT + :30 ABT :37 ESDT :59 ESDT 5

Question #6: You make a dive to 73 fsw (22.3 msw) for 30 minutes. During ascent, you develop a reverse ear block at a depth of 65 fsw and it takes 05 minutes at that depth to clear your ears and continue ascent. After surfacing, you need to return to the same dive site to finish the job that will take 25 minutes. What would be the minimum surface interval required to allow you to perform the repetitive dive within no-decompression limits? Question #7: You and your dive buddy make a dive to 125 fsw (38.1 msw) for 09 minutes with a safety stop at 15 fsw (4.6 msw) for :04 minutes. After 2½ hours on the surface, you make a repetitive dive to 55 fsw (16.8 msw) for 25 minutes, with another safety stop at 15 fsw (4.6 msw) for 04 minutes. After 1 hour on the surface, you want to make a third dive to 55 fsw (16.8 msw) for 15 minutes. Can the third dive can be conducted within the no-decompression limits? Question #8: You have completed a dive to 125 fsw (38.1 msw) for 10 minutes. Following a surface interval of 2½ hour, you wish to dive to 55 fsw (16.8 msw) for 35 minutes without having to decompress. Can the repetitive dive be made without decompression? Question #9: A diver makes a no-decompression dive to 85 fsw (26 msw) for 12 minutes. Following a SIT of 1:00, the diver makes another dive to 65 fsw (19.8 msw) for as long as possible staying within the no-decompression limit. Following another SIT of 1:00, the diver wants to make a third no-decompression dive for as long as possible to 45 fsw (13.7 msw). What would be the maximum no-decompression bottom time allowed on the last dive? Question #10: A diver makes a dive to 70 fsw (21.4 msw) for the maximum no-decompression limit. Following a 2½ hour surface interval, the diver makes a second dive to 50 fsw for the maximum no-decompression time allowed. What is the minimum time the diver must wait at the surface following the second dive before flying?
