Cupertino Rotary 19th Annual Golf Classic A Benefit for Hospice of the Valley s Palliative Care Center
February 2012 Cupertino Rotary 19th Annual Golf Classic A Benefit for Hospice of the Valley s Palliative Care Center Dear friends and supporters, The Rotary Club of Cupertino will be holding its 19th annual Cupertino Rotary Golf Classic on May 5, 2012. This event has raised over $850,000 for local charitable organizations over the past seventeen years. Past recipients have included Habitat for Humanity s Cupertino Cleo Avenue Project, Cupertino Library Teen Center, Valley Medical Center s Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit, PACE (Pacific Autism Center for Education), VIA/Camp Costanoan, the Child Development Center at De Anza College and several other worthwhile community organizations. This year s major beneficiary will be the Hospice of the Valley s new Palliative Care Center which is slated to open in fall 2012. The Center will be the first stand-alone, outpatient palliative care facility in California. The primary goal of palliative care is to enable patients and families to live as well as possible with a serious illness regardless of disease diagnosis, state of illness, treatment or prognosis. Serious illness is often accompanied by symptoms that compromise function and quality of life. To address psychosocial issues, the Center will provide an interdisciplinary team of social workers, counselors and others. Key elements of palliative care are effective communication and informed decision making which help empower patients and families to accomplish their healthcare goals. Palliative care is appropriate to anyone with a serious or life threatening illness. We would greatly appreciate a donation that can be used as a tournament prize, a silent auction prize, a raffle prize, or a live auction prize. Gift certificates, event tickets, and actual prizes are all examples of items that can be beneficial to our cause. Donations of all values are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Your support can ensure the success of this important fundraiser. The names of all of our donors will be prominently displayed and advertised at our tournament. Again, we appreciate your support.
