SDS Showcases I and II Saturday, May 18 th, 2019 Hickory Creek Elementary School Cafeteria Switzerland Dance School presents our 3-5-year old students in their own Showcase performance. The SDS Showcase displays the techniques and exercises learned at this age in ballet and tap, demonstrating how we alternate fun with serious instruction to keep children interested and LOVING dance! In addition, the children perform several dances using fun props such as streamers and tambourines. Showcase is a step down from recital, making it less stressful for the younger dancers. We keep dancing fun for this age group by not requiring them to memorize or perfect their dance number. The advantages of our Showcase include parents being able to see their children perform longer in an up-close, personal atmosphere as well as no allday dress rehearsal or late recital night. Dancers will still get to perform on a big stage with costumes, hair, make-up and all the extras offered (trophies, flowers, etc.), but with minimal monetary and time investment compared to a recital. Switzerland Dance School Dance Companies also perform several dances at the Showcase that always thrill and inspire the young ones. The response in past years from parents, visitors and students convinces us that Showcase is the best way to introduce young children to performing and loving dance. Please make sure you read the following information carefully, so our Showcase will run smoothly and be a positive experience for all involved!! Be Blessed, Ms. Stacey

Children arriving on time will have the opportunity to participate in a quick dance practice and placement. This is very necessary for the students. Sorry, we will not delay the practice for latecomers. Dancers arrive dressed in your COSTUME. Dancers are to be dropped off in the chorus room with hair (unless you are using our hair services, see below) and make up already done. Clearly mark the outside of all dance bags and the inside of all dance shoes with your child's name. Bring dance shoes in labeled dance bag, do NOT wear shoes to show. WHAT TO WEAR: Costume Bodywrappers Pink footed tights Pink ballet shoes TAN, BLOCH OR CAPEZIO, PRINCESS STYLE TAP SHOES Hair-Double French Braids tucked Light make up NO UNDERWEAR under costume SDS will be taking orders for tights from March 25th though April 6th. Order forms and pricing will be in the studio lobby. Samples for sizing will also be available. If your child s tights are still in good condition you will not need to order. It is good, however, to always have an extra pair on hand. We strongly suggest you order early from us to insure you get the right color and brand of tights. Many stores do not carry the children's size in this tight and will put you on an order list or send you across town. Then when they do arrive they may be wrong. We hope to help you by taking your order at the studio and delivering your correct order at your child's class time. Also, if you need to buy new tap shoes before the show, please purchase TAN Capezio or Bloch Princess style shoes only. This will help preserve our dance floor. Accessories: SDS will provide upon arrival-hairpieces and any other accessories needed. Costumes: Costumes will be sent home the week before the performance. Costumes will not be available to go home until all financial matters are clear. Hairpieces and hats will not go home with costumes. They can be picked up upon arrival for the performance. (See registration and information form in this packet.) Professional DVDs We are pleased to partner with Gotham Arts this year to record our shows. An order form with pricing information is attached. They are offering a price reduction for preorders placed by 5/18/19! The fee for orders received after this date will go up by $15. Please note this is a different videographer this year and they have promised that the finished videos will be made available within 3 weeks of our events. Personal videos/ cameras: You may not take personal pictures/videos DURING the performance. There will be time set aside at the end of the performance to get a picture of your child on stage. Video and flash cameras are a hindrance to the audience and our dancers. Please do not distract the students from their one opportunity to perform the piece they have been working on for months by taking pictures during the performance. We would appreciate parents informing all friends and relatives who will attend the show of this policy as well. Bake Sale: Parents, while you are waiting for the show to start or at the end of the show, we hope you will enjoy and participate in our bake sale to help raise funds for our Dance Company. There will be soft drinks, water and many "homemade goodies" in which to indulge! This would also be the time to pick up your "Stage Door Service" order (before or after). We look forward to seeing your child blossom in all the wonderful graces and benefits of dance and to channel all to the glory of God.
