League terminology 1) CALL YOUR POCKET -defined as any shot taken after the break. You must call your pocket prior to pocketing the ball in any hole on the table. 2) LEGAL BREAK -the cue ball is placed behind head string and is to be shot down the table striking no more than the second ball down on the rack. While executing this you must drive a total of four balls to a rail or pocket a ball. In the event of miscue and or balls are not broken in the manner described above or a ball is not pocketed then one of the following must happen: A) THE OPPOSING PLAYER CAN CHOOSE TO BREAK. B) THE OPPOSING PLAYER CAN GIVE THE BREAK BACK TO HIS OPPONENT. In either case the eight ball is still in play and can be pocketed on the break to win the rack off of the break. 3) SCRATCH -when the cue ball either goes into a pocket or leaves the playing surface for any reason, this results in the opponent placing the cue ball anywhere on the playing surface (BALL IN HAND). Only exception to this role is when the cue ball is made in a pocket off of the break, which results in the cue ball being placed behind head string and shot from there (LEGAL BREAK). 4) SAFE only term allowed to be used when executing a shot to play defense on your opponent. When the opponent hears this word no matter what is happening on the playing surface the player at the table forfeits his next shot this is not a ball in hand foul. The cue ball remains at the position it is in. If the shooter doesn t say safe prior to the shot where his opponent can hear him then the player must continue to shoot if a legal shot was made. 5) DEAD BALLS /LIVE BALLS- dead balls are any ball that leaves the playing surface while the rack is in progress by other means than shooting them into a pocket or they leave the playing surface due to accidentally hitting them with your hand or stick the ball is not legally pocketed must be returned to its original position prior to the shot. Live balls are any ball on a playing surface that have not been pocketed while the rack is in progress. The cue ball is always live even when placing it on the surface for ball 1n hand fouls. If the ball leaves the surface other

than being legally pocketed, it must be returned to the surface on the spot or behind the nearest ball to the spot. LEAGUE MATCH RULES All matches will start with a coin toss. Home team flips the coin and winner gets to break. 1) All matches are a best of three race. 2) The 8 BALL is not neutral and can only be made on the break to win the rack 3) While performing a shot, at least part of your foot must remain on the floor at all times. (Loss of shot) 4) No player may mark the table in any manner at any time. (Loss of shot) 5) Masse and jump shots are allowed with proper equipment. Above the shoulder is legal as well. Scoop shots are illegal and anytime the cue ball leaves the table it is a scratch(loss of shot) 6) When pocketing the eight ball, players must patch the desired pocket prior to shooting the ball into the pocket. If the eight ball was made and no pocket is patched then the result is loss of rack. Anybody can tell the shooter to patched pocket on a ball without penalty or loss of shot. 7) While a player is executing a legal break and pockets ball whatever they make the most of they must take and continue shooting until they miss. If a player makes an equal amount of higher low balls on the break then he has the choice to choose high or low. Any ball except the eight can be used to make another ball during the first shot to determine which balls the shooter has for the rack 8) Each player in both singles and doubles has one timeout per rack. Timeouts can only be called by the captain, co captain, or partner. Timeouts should not exceed one minute. Only one person is allowed at the table during a timeout. 9) In the event of a disagreement or foul of any type that can t be settled by the teams, play should stop immediately until the dispute is agreed upon by both teams. If an agreement cannot be reached the home team captain contacts president for a decision. Any fouls are to be called at the time they occur. If either team fails to do this then it becomes a dead issue and can t be dealt with later by the officers of the league. 10) When no league officer is present at a match and there is a disagreement on some common situations all calls go to the shooter at his discretion. This includes split hits and ball in hand fouls. 11) The cue ball is always live. Any movement of the cue ball in a manner other than executing a shot results in a ball and hand foul. Any balls moved or pocketed

while placing the cue ball will result in all balls returned to original positions and the shooter loses his turn. Opponent has the choice to place balls in their original positions prior to their shot when foul has occurred. 12) All shots made after the legal break must be called to a pocket prior to shooting them. Only exception is the eight ball due to patching the pocket prior to shooting it in. If the object ball was shot and no pocket was called the shooter loses his turn at the table. 13) All players are expected to use good sportsmanship. Anyone in violation may face penalties, fines and/or suspension.
