After a one-year hiatus with the Fighting Irish joining the Big Ten prior to the start of the 2017-18 season, Notre Dame and Boston College renew their rivalry, which included four seasons as conference foes in Hockey East. The Irish went into break after splitting a weekend road series at No. 9/10 Penn State (Dec. 7-8). Penn State s game two win snapped Notre Dame s seven-game winning streak. At the break, the Irish were one of eight teams with at least 11 wins on the season and they were sixth in the pairwise comparison rankings, used to determine NCAA tournament selections (the national break ended on Dec. 28). Notre Dame won eight of their final 10 games of the first semester (8-2-0) after starting the season 3-3-1 (last season the Irish also started 3-3-1 before putting together a program record 16-game winning streak). Head coach Jeff Jackson (307-182-55) is tied with Lefty Smith (307-320-31) for the most career wins at Notre Dame. Notre Dame has played seven games this season in which the Irish and their opponent have both been ranked inside the top-10 at the time of puck drop (ND is 3-4-0 in those contests). The Eagles helped dedicate the Compton Family Ice Arena on Nov. 18, 2011 as No. 4 Notre Dame downed No. 3 BC, 3-2 in overtime when Bryan Rust scored with 1.1 seconds remaining in the Dedication Game. Following the rivalry game versus Boston College, the Fighting Irish will head outdoors to take on Michigan at Notre Dame Stadium on January 5, 2019. The game will take place four days after the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins of the NHL meet in the 2019 Bridgestone Winter Classic on the campus of Notre Dame. Both Cal Burke (six games: 3-3-6) and Cam Morrison (five games: 4-3-7) carry careerlong point streaks into the Boston College game. THE SERIES VS. BOSTON COLLEGE Boston College holds a slight edge in the all-time series, 21-19-3. In that most recent meeting at the Compton Family Ice Arena on Dec. 10, 2016, the Irish faced a two-goal deficit against third-ranked Boston College but rallied for a comeback win on two goals by Anders Bjork and an Andrew Oglevie tally. Bjork buried the shorthanded, game-winner for the Irish at 17:30 of the second to lift the Irish to the win. Notre Dame also had a notable comeback against the Eagles at Conte Forum on Dec. 10, 2015 when they trailed 3-1 at 7:05 of the third period but rallied to score three straight goals to post a 4-3, come-from-behind win at third-ranked Boston College (Dennis Gilbert had the game winner). Prior to varsity status, the Irish and Wolverines met three times in outdoor games, playing at Badin Rink. The Irish hold the advantage with a 2-1 record including a 7-4 win in their first ever meeting at Notre Dame. The outdoor contest allows the Irish to return to their roots, as the original club team played at Howard Park in South Bend in its early years. The original site for Notre Dame hockey, dating back as far as 1912, was outdoors at the current site of Badin Hall and Saint Mary s Lake. Tickets for the event are on sale now. Prior to the turn of the century, the House that Rockne Built rarely hosted non-football events. In 2008, the stadium was host to the Big East Women s Lacrosse Tournament and will host the NCAA Men s Lacrosse Championship in 2021. In October, Notre Dame Stadium hosted its first-ever concert as Garth Brooks played on stage set up at center field. Since 2010, the stadium has also hosted the annual commencement ceremony. ON THE ROAD Over the last two seasons, the Irish are 17-4-1 in road contests (21-6-2 over the past two seasons in road and neutral site games combined). In a season-plus now of Big Ten conference road games, Notre Dame is 13-4-1 (9-2-1 in 2017-18). IRISH IN THE NHL Former Notre Dame goaltender Cal Petersen made his National Hockey League debut with the Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 13 when he came in during the second period in relief of Kings starter Peter Budaj. In 35:27 of work he stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced. Then in his first career start, Petersen made 34 saves on 35 shots to record his first NHL win in the shootout at the United Center against the Chicago Blackhawks. On November 19, Petersen recorded his first NHL shutout, stopping all 29 shots faced to give the Kings a 2-0 win over St. Louis Blues. Petersen became the first former Notre Dame goaltender to play an NHL game and the 19th Irish skater to play for Irish head coach Jeff Jackson and then make it to the NHL and the program s 33rd overall NHLer. Petersen was the first former Notre Dame player to debut since April 7, 2018, when Steven Fogarty suited up for the New York Rangers. After posting 62 points in 2017-18 (40-22-62), former Irish captain Anders Lee was named the 15th captain in New York Islanders franchise history. Thus far, eight former Irish icers have seen the ice for their respective NHL teams in 2018-19 with Anders Bjork (Boston), Ian Cole (Colorado), Vinnie Hinostroza (Arizona), Bryan Rust (Pittsburgh) and Riley Sheahan (Pittsburgh) joining Lee, Fogarty and Petersen. During the 2016-17 season, a program-record 10 former Notre Dame hockey players played in the NHL (nine was the previous high in 2011-12). The 2016-17 season also included several stretches where eight former Irish players were in the league at the same time, marking the first time in program history eight former players were on active NHL rosters at the same time (now has happened in back-to-back seasons; 2016-17 & 2017-18). Also during the 2016-17 season, Rust became the third former Irish player to record an NHL hat trick, joining Palmieri (1) and Dave Poulin (5) and Lee totaled 34 goals to set the record for goals in an NHL season by a former Irish player. With Pittsburgh winning the 2017 Stanley Cup, Rust and Cole became the third and fourth former Irish players to win back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships, joining Bill Nyrop (Montreal 76-77- 78) and Don Jackson (Edmonton 84-85). 2018 ICE BREAKER CHAMPIONS

Michigan State GAME NOTES 2017-18 REGULAR SEASON RECAP The Irish opened the regular season with a weekend sweep of Alabama-Huntsville, outscoring the Chargers 9-3 while Dylan St. Cyr backstopped the Irish to a 4-0 victory in his first career start in net. After starting the season 3-3-1, the Irish went on a 16-game win-streak, the longest winning-streak in program history. Their historic 16-game win-streak began with a 5-4 triumph over Nebraska-Omaha in late October, spurring the longest win-streak in collegiate hockey last season. Notre Dame won their first 13 conference games in the Big Ten, marking the first time a team had swept each conference opponent during their first meeting as conference foes. The win streak ended at the United Center in Chicago as the Irish lost to Wisconsin, nearly three months after it began. The team finished with the best record in the Big Ten conference, posting a 17-6-1 conference record to claim the regular season Big Ten Championship. They clinched the regular season title after defeating Ohio State 2-1 in early February. 2018 POST-SEASON SUCCESS Coined the comeback kids for their last minute success, the Irish scored in the final seconds of regulation or overtime to come out on top in five of their six postseason contests. With the Big Ten semifinal game tied with 31 seconds remaining in overtime, Jack Jenkins netted the game winner to send the team to the championship game against Ohio State. Notre Dame played host to the 2017-18 Big Ten Championship game where they defeated Ohio State 3-2 behind an overtime game-winner from Cam Morrison. Following two conference titles in their first season with the Big Ten, the Irish made their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to their second-straight Frozen Four. The NCAA East Regional saw both a 4-3 overtime victory over Michigan Tech for the Irish before topping Providence College in the final minute of regulation to advance to the Frozen Four. In their second consecutive Frozen Four appearance, hosted at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the Irish advanced to the National Championship game after 7 Jake Evans sent the puck home with five seconds left in the third period, defeating Michigan 4-3. With Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State in Saint Paul, the Frozen Four included at least three schools from the same conference for just the fifth time in history and the first time sine 2005. It marked the second time Jeff Jackson has been a part of a conference sending at least three teams to the Frozen Four, as his Lake Superior State Lakers won the 1992 national title at a Frozen Four that included Michigan and Michigan State from the CCHA. 2018 - Big Ten (Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State) 2005 - WCHA (Colorado College, Denver, Minnesota, North Dakota) 1999 - Hockey East (Boston College, New Hampshire, Maine) 1992 - CCHA (Lake Superior State, Michigan, Michigan State) 1982 - WCHA (Michigan Tech, Minnesota, Wisconsin) QUITE THE SEASON FOR CALE Notre Dame goaltender Cale Morris was named was named recipient of the 2017-18 Mike Richter Award, presented annually to the nation s top goaltender, prior to the NCAA National Championship game. He was also named a Hobey Baker Award Top 10 Finalist last season. Morris led the nation in save percentage (.944) and victories (27), while his 1.94 goals against average ranked eighth in the country. He also earned First Team West CCM/AHCA All-American honors, making him the second Irish player in as many years to earn All-American honors and first to make first-team honors since Ian Cole in 2008-09. Morris totaled 1,202 saves on the season, which leads the nation. He is one of just eight goalies to have surpassed 1,000 saves last year. In addition, he faced more shots than any other goaltender at 1,273 (Arizona State s Joey Daccord was second at 1,193) and was the only goaltender in the nation to face more than 1,200 shots. In Notre Dame s record book, his single-season save percentage ranks first all-time, while his goals against average is third and his total saves puts him sixth. In addition to earning Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors, Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Goaltender of the Year, Morris has been named a Big Ten Star of the week eight times this season, including five First Star honors. He was named to the NCAA East Regional All-Regional team. In a 2-2 overtime tie at Penn State (Feb. 3, 2018), Morris made a career-high 55 saves and he stopped an Andrew Sturtz penalty shot in overtime to preserve the tie and followed with two saves in the shootout to help the Irish grab the extra Big Ten point. Morris becomes the fourth player in Notre Dame history to make the Hobey Baker final 10, joining Anders Bjork (2017), David Brown (2007) and Dave Poulin (1982). A native of Larkspur, Colorado, Morris is the first player from the Centennial State to play his way into the Hobey Top 10. 2017-18 B1G AWARDS On March 13, Cale Morris became the second player in Notre Dame history to be named conference player of the year, while becoming the third Irish net minder to earn conference goaltender of the year awards. Morris was named Big Ten Player and Goaltender of the Year, while also earning first team All-Big Ten accolades. He was joined on the All-Big Ten first team by Jake Evans and Jordan Gross, while Andrew Oglevie was named Notre Dame s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree. The last Notre Dame player to collect player and goaltender of the year awards at the conference level was also the last time an Irish player won both awards in the same year, as David Brown earned both designations from the CCHA in 2006-07. The only other Notre Dame player to earn goaltender of the year was Jordan Pearce, also in the CCHA, one season later. You also have to return to the CCHA days to find the last time Notre Dame had three

8 first team all-league selections. In 2008-09, right wing Erik Condra, center Christian Hanson and defensman Kyle Lawson were all first-team honorees. This season marks just the third time the Irish have had three first-team selections, with 2003-04 being the other year as Aaron Gill, Rob Globke and Brett Lebda all received first team All- CCHA nods. JEFF JACKSON 9 HEAD COACH JEFF JACKSON The 2018-19 hockey season marks University of Notre Dame hockey coach Jeff Jackson s 14th season behind the Irish bench. The highly regarded Jackson now has over 30 years of coaching experience. Last season he guided the Irish to a pair of Big Ten titles and a run to the national title game en route to being named the Spencer Penrose Award winner as the National Coach of the Year. Notre Dame s Jeff Jackson era began in 2005 when the University searched for a man who could move the program among the elite hockey schools in the country. During his now 14-year run, Notre Dame has become one of the nation s top teams, winning numerous conference championships and skating in three leagues over his tenure. He enters the 2018-19 season with a 19-year collegiate record of 478-229- 79 for a.658 winning percentage, one of the top marks among all active Division I coaches with five years or more in Division I. His 478 career wins also rank in the top 10 of active Division I coaches. Jackson s Notre Dame teams have made nine trips to the NCAA Championship (2007-09, 2011, 2013-14, 2016-18), advancing to the Frozen Four four times and playing in the 2008 and 2018 national title games. In his early years with the Irish, the team won the Central Collegiate Hockey Association s (CCHA) regular-season title twice (2006-07 and 2008-09) while earning three Mason Cup championships (`07, `09 and the final one in 2013) In the team s first season with the Big Ten (2017-18), Notre Dame captured both the regular season and conference championships. Since his arrival, the Irish have had 34 players selected in the National Hockey League Entry Draft, including three first round selections. In addition, 19 of Jackson s Notre Dame players have gone on to play in the NHL (most recent: goaltender Cal Petersen of the Los Angeles Kings). In his 14-year span, 23 players from USA Hockey s National Team Developmental Program have matriculated to Notre Dame. During Jackson s tenure, the Irish have had seven players garner All- America honors -- Cale Morris in 2018, Anders Bjork in 2017, Robbie Russo in 2015, Anders Lee in 2013, Ian Cole and Erik Condra in 2009 and David Brown in 2007. Jackson s success on the ice also has had a major impact off the ice for the Irish. With the wins came a commitment from the University that led to the new home of Irish hockey - The Compton Family Ice Arena - one of the finest college hockey facilities in the nation.
