San Mateo Ave MILDURA 5023 1851 mildura.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au www.facebook.com.au/ MilduraPrimarySchool 30.11.17 OSHC 1300 665 699 The end of the term is only three weeks away and the school is a hive of activity. Over the past few weeks we have had the 2018 prep students coming into the school on Friday afternoons and Tuesday mornings to start getting ready for next year. It has been great to see their excited faces as they learn about coming to school. Next Tuesday morning is an important time for the parents of next year s preps. There will be an important information session that will cover all that is needed to be known for starting school at Mildura Primary. Grade 6 are also building to an important event for the end of their time at Mildura Primary. A lot of organisation is going into getting ready for the Grade 6 Graduation Extravaganza. Wednesday 20 th December will be a very special evening. Preparations for the It s Almost Christmas Concert are also underway. This big end of year event is set for Thursday 14 th December. It is a wonderful time of the year where the whole school community can come together and celebrate the 2017 school year. There are a lot of acts currently being prepared for the night. I can t wait to see what the students are going to be doing and to be able to announce the 2018 Student Leadership team as well as the school captains. Thursday 21 st December is one of the important days for students who are returning next year. On this day all students will be meeting their new teachers and new classmates and knowing where their classroom will be. They will spend the afternoon in their new grades getting to know each other in preparation for next year. The final newsletter for this year will have all the details of teachers and the grades. This time of year can be very busy but please remember we expect students to be at school every day to continue the great learning planned each day. If students are away please contact the school and let us know. David Midgley Principal. T20 Blast Cricket On Thursday 9 th November, a number of students competed in the T20 Blast cricket competition held at the Aerodrome Ovals. The boys team played against Mildura South #1 in our first game. The scores were Mildura South #1 6/177 while we managed a healthy reply of 6/143. Our second game was against Trinity Lutheran College. With some tight bowling, we managed to keep TLC to a low score of 5/113. It was a close game until Aryan and Bailey scored 60 runs in an over to get us a win. Our final score against TLC was 7/154. In our last game against Sacred Heart #1, we scored 6/112 while Sacred Heart made an impressive 199 for the loss of 6 wickets. After the round robin stage, we finished in 8 th position. Our finals game was against Sacred Heart #2. We batted first scoring 137 runs while losing 4 wickets. When we bowled we took 7 wickets and kept Sacred Heart #2 to 109 runs. As it turned out, the two games we lost were eventually to the teams that played in the Grand Final which was won by Mildura South PS. It was a great effort by the boys as not a lot of them play cricket, so to be competitive against sides that were full of boys that play cricket on Saturday mornings was exceptional. While the whole team fielded great and took catches when the opportunity arose, a great special mention to Aryan for his speed demon bowling as well as his lusty hitting. Bailey and Taniela also displayed some big hitting.
