WELCOME The 2017-2018 sports programme saw over 20,000 children participate in 130 events across 22 different sports. The 2018-2019 programme will see 154 events take place across both team and individual sports. To see a full list of the sports events available, visit our website: sport.iaps.uk. NETBALL Thank you for booking onto an IAPS netball qualifier. It is exciting to see our tournaments growing year on year. This year there will be eleven U11, seven U12 and eight U13 qualifying rounds. To ensure consistency, IAPS has created the draws and timings for all the qualifying tournaments. IAPS has consulted England Netball to ensure that all age groups are playing within the recommended guidance. Whilst England Netball don t provide a specific maximum allowance of play, we have taken the amount of play they will get into consideration. Each qualifier will play approximately 100 minutes, with roughly 10 minutes built into to allow for any potential overrun. Whether this is your first time at an IAPS netball qualifier or you have entered for many years, we hope your team enjoys the tournament. IAPS passionately believes in the importance of sport as part of an all-round education for its pupils. First and foremost, sport is about participation and enjoyment good luck! IAPS SPORT
SAFEGUARDING IAPS believes that the welfare and wellbeing of all children (young people under the age of 18) and adults at risk attending an IAPS event is of the highest concern. All such persons have the right to safety and protection and any suspicions, concerns or allegations of harm will be taken seriously and will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately. IAPS expects all adults who are engaged with the delivery of sports events to fully comply with safeguarding procedures as laid out in the IAPS Safeguarding policy and procedures, and the KCSiE September 2018 document (these are available on our website: sport. iaps.uk/safeguarding). IAPS expects all coaches present to be DBS checked and have received relevant safeguarding training at their school/club. IAPS expects that all adults attending events have read the IAPS code of conduct, photo policy & anti bullying policy. These are available to read and download from our website here: sport.iaps.uk/safeguarding If you have any safeguarding concerns today, please don t hesitate to speak to Fran Hide or Emily Connell or a member of the organising team. TIMINGS We are very much looking forward to seeing you all for the tournament to be played on the Top Courts at Cranleigh starting at 11.00am. Please arrive by 10:30am latest to allow enough time for your girls to visit the loo and to warm up, so that we can start at 11:00am promptly. PARKING Parking will be beside Marcon artificial pitch, teams will then need to walk up to the courts beside the Sports centre at Cranleigh (GU6 8QQ). The parking is at the top of the road on which all 3 artificial pitches are sited and, if you come in through the Sanny Lane entrance (clearly signed, when you arrive at Cranleigh ) you will see this road on the left approx. 200m from the gate you have come through. Please do not try to park any closer to the courts as there will not be enough space. We would be very grateful if you could pass this message on to your parents too. Previously at tournaments parents have often driven up to the top courts and realised there is no space and double-parked and blocked access to our golf course. REFRESHMENT Hot refreshments and snacks will be available for coaches and spectators, children should bring their own.
MAP OF SCHOOL SITE TOP COURTS CHANGING FACILITIES Changing facilities will be available in the TASC sports hall next to the courts. RULES AND REGULATIONS All IAPS netball tournaments are conducted under the England Netball rules and regulations, including their ruling on gender splits within tournaments. Please read the rules and regulations in full before taking part in the tournament. https://www.englandnetball.co.uk/app/uploads/2018/06/inf-rules-of-netball-2018-edition.pdf All teams are to be 7-aside. Use a size 5 ball. Height of the posts at 10ft. A central hooter will sound at the start, half-time and end of matches but the umpires must use their whistle to start and finish play. At half-time, umpires must start their matches immediately after teams have changed ends, substitutions may be made but no team talk. In the event of a tie in the knock out stages, the golden goal rule will be used. On hearing the final hooter and when the score line is equal the umpires should not stop play but allow it to continue until the next goal has been scored. Please make sure you have a first aid kit with you. Ties The group order will be decided by the number of points scored by each team. In the event of a tie on points the following will decide final placings in the group stages:
A. Goal difference B. Total goals scored C. Result between the two teams In the event of a draw in the knock out stages, the winner will be decided by extra time. There should be a 2-minute interval after full time before starting the extra time. The extra time will be 5 mins one way. If the score is still tied after 5 minutes extra time, then a period of golden goal will commence. The first team to score a goal wins the match. Captains Should toss for first centre pass or choice of goal end well before the start of play and have their team ready to go on court immediately the preceding match has finished. Only the teams playing and their official coaches and reserves should be on the courts. Reserves and team coaches must stay at the same end throughout a match. Failure to comply to this rule will have offenders banned to the outside of the courts for the remainder of the tournament. Only umpires should be down the middle of the court. Parents, other players and staff must be on the outside of the courts. Umpires You must provide a qualified umpire for the tournament, minimum C award. Late Arrivals No team shall start a match with less than 5 players. Late arrivals may not enter the game whilst play is in progress until allowed by the umpire after a goal has been scored. If any team fails to arrive on time or with less than five players, the match will be void and 5 points awarded to the team present. Umpires must clearly mark the scorecards accordingly. No extra time will be allowed - in the case of an accident/injury, please immediately substitute a player who cannot continue. Tournament Procedures Please report to the organisers at least 30 minutes before start of play. Please check your start time very carefully both as the playing team and as an umpire. If you are placed to qualify yet know that you cannot commit to the finals, please let the organisers at your tournament know on the day.
