GAME FIVE RECAP: OREGON Oklahoma battled back and forth against No. 10 Oregon, but could not overcome the Ducks' hot shooting performance as the Sooners fell 92-74 at Matthew Knight Arena in the PK80 Invitational. Vionise Pierre-Louis scored a season-high 32 points on 12-of-20 shooting and recorded 13 rebounds to earn her 13th career double-double. Maddie Manning added in 17 points, while Ana Llanusa finished in double figures for the fourth straight game, tying a season-high with 12 points. Pierre-Louis scored 17 of her 32 points in the first half, but the Ducks hit seven treys to take a 14-point lead at intermission. The Sooners cut the deficit down to 61-51 late in the third quarter by forcing seven Oregon turnovers, but the Ducks responded with four points to close the @OU_WBBall frame. Pierre-Louis' 32-point performance marked her second career game scoring 30-plus points and it is the most points scored by the senior in a regulation game during her OU career. The senior has picked up double-doubles in three of the first five games of the season for the Sooners. Oregon finished with a.528 (.38-of-72) clip from the field, while OU shot.348 (24-of-69). Pierre-Louis' has been efficient by posting a.712 field goal percentage, which ranks fifth in Division I. The senior's 10.3 rebounds per game also led the Big 12. The Lake Worth, Fla., native has scored in double figures four times in the first five games. Pierre-Louis' 32 points at Oregon last Saturday were just one shy of tying her career high (33 vs. West Virginia, 2017) and were the most scored by the senior in regulation during her OU career. Pierre-Louis has recorded three double-doubles so far this season and has 13 for her career. She needs four more double-doubles to tie Etta Maytubby (17, 1993-96) for tenth place all-time in school history. POINTS, LOTS OF THEM Through the first five games of the season, OU is averaging 88.6 points per game and is shooting.454 from the field. The Sooners rank in Division I 12th in scoring offense and 47th in field goal percentage. OU has had six different 20-point scoring performances from four different players through five games. During the 2016-17 season, OU had just 15 20-point scoring performances in 33 games. ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF OU s freshman class of Ana Llanusa, Shaina Pellington and Mandy Simpson have excelled in the Sooners' first five games. Llanusa has scored in double figures in four of OU's first five games of the season. At Oregon, Llanusa tied her season high with 12 points against the Ducks. The freshman finished 6-of-6 from the free throw line in a season-high 27 minutes. Pellington filled the stat sheet with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, six rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes of action at DePaul. Pellington has led OU in assists three times and is averaging 10.8 points a contest. Simpson, who has started all five games, earned Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors on Nov. 13 after posting 12 points, five rebounds and three assists against Belmont. MORE MADDIE Maddie Manning's move to the point guard position seems to be paying off. Through five games, Manning is averaging 17.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Manning has scored in double figures in 10 straight games and in 15 out of OU's last 16 contests dating back to last season. Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Manning has finished with 10-plus points 22 times in the last 35 games she has appeared in. QUICK HITS Oklahoma is 24-6 against current members of the Sun Belt Conference. Vionise Pierre-Louis' 53 rebounds through five games are the most by an OU player since Courtney Paris recorded 70 in the same amount of games to open the 2008-09 season. The Sooners set season highs with 25 made free throws and 34 free throw attempts at Oregon. The Sooners have been consistent at getting to the foul line - OU is 15th in Division I in free throws made (102) and 19th in free throw attempts (148). Gabbi Ortiz has hit 30 straight shots at the charity stripe dating back to Feb. 11, 2017 at Texas Tech. Ortiz's streak is tied for the third-longest streak in program history and matches Danielle Robinson's streak of 30 consecutive free throws made during the 2008-09 season. The Sooners tied a program record for most 3-point attempts in a half with 19 against SMU on Nov 17. OU knocked down nine triples in the opening two quarters, which was also one shy of tying a school record. OU has scored 20-plus points in 15 of 20 quarters during regulation this season (scored at least 18 points in 17 of 20 quarters). Oklahoma s non-conference schedule includes matchups against five NCAA Tournament teams from last season (Belmont, DePaul, Oregon, UConn and South Dakota State). Nine of the Sooners' 11 non-conference opponents made postseason appearances last year. UP NEXT CAREER RECORDS WATCH LIST ASSISTS Name No. Years 1. Stacey Dales 764 1998-02 7.
