SOCIAL FUNCTIONS Details of Club-run social functions will be announced via the notice board, the Club s website and the emailed Golf Alert. FIXTURES The fixtures for Men and Women Members (both Midweek and Weekend) are consolidated and presented in a week-to-a-page diary on pages 22 74. As noted on page 2, entries are distinguished as follows: Men s events Mixed and Medley events Women's events Calendars for 2019 and 2020 are provided on page 22. PLAYING POLICY for the safety and enjoyment of all Members General Appropriate golfing attire on the course and neat casual attire in the clubhouse are the minimum dress requirements. It is the responsibility of every player to have an adequate knowledge of the Rules of Golf (copies available from the office) and to observe club etiquette. Local Rules are printed on the back of the scorecard. Temporary local rules are displayed on the notice board alongside the entrance to the Pro Shop. If unable to play at the booked tee time, members are required to cancel as early as possible via the on-line facility or the kiosks in the clubhouse prior to the day of play, or with the Pro Shop on the day of play. Repeat cancellations/no shows may lead to loss of booking privileges On holes identified as call-up holes, players must call up and use safety screens. Competitors in Club Championships have priority on the course. It is the players responsibility to determine if weather conditions are unsafe for play. No siren will be sounded. At all times, members are bound by publicised changes to this Playing Policy. The Spirit of the Game Golf is mostly played without a referee so it relies on the individual player to show consideration for other players, and to abide by the Rules of Golf and Northbridge Golf Club rules. Players should show discipline, courtesy and sportsmanship in the spirit of the game of golf irrespective of how competitive they may be. Safety Players must not play their ball until all players ahead are out of range. Greens staff have the right-of-way at all times. Players must wait until called Richardson & Wrench NORTHBRIDGE & CASTLECRAG 9

on before hitting near greens staff (and other players). If a ball is heading towards another player, a loud warning shout of fore should be made. Courtesy A player should not distract another player on the course by: moving, talking or making unnecessary noise; using non-golfing electronic devices; standing close or directly behind the ball to be hit; or directly behind the hole as a player is about to play. On the green, players should not stand on another player s line or cast a shadow over the line of the putt. Pace of Play Players must play at a reasonable pace. The Match Committee has established the following guidelines: Players must report to the Pro Shop and be ready to play at least 10 minutes before their scheduled tee time. It is a group s responsibility to keep up with the group ahead. If it loses a full hole and is delaying the group behind, it should invite that group to play through. Players should be ready to play as soon as it is their turn. At the green, bags and carts should be positioned to enable quickest movement to the next tee. Players should leave the green immediately the hole has been completed, marking their scorecards at the next tee while others are hitting off. Players who think their ball may be lost or out of bounds should declare and play a provisional ball. If it is apparent that a ball will not be found quickly, the group behind should be invited to play through BEFORE starting the search (for a maximum of 3 minutes). The lowest marker in a group is responsible for maintaining the pace of play. At Northbridge, the time allowed to complete 18 holes is 4 hours and 10 minutes; or, if over that time, within 12 minutes of the group ahead finishing. Penalties for Slow Play The policy for dealing with slow play is: First offence offender will be warned in writing and advised of the consequences of further offences. Second offence (within three months of first) offender will be relegated to the end of the field for a two-week period. Third offence (within three months of first) offender will lose booking rights for a two-week period. Care of the Course Players must smooth out all holes and footprints made in bunkers 10 Richardson & Wrench NORTHBRIDGE & CASTLECRAG

before leaving them. Players must repair divots made by them on fairways and pitch marks made by them on greens. Players should, where practical, wheel their pull buggies across the green. Players must obey all directions in the use of motorised golf carts and bikes, particularly in wet conditions. The use of such vehicles on the course is a privilege which will be withdrawn if misused CONDITIONS OF PLAY IN MENS COMPETITIONS It is important for members to be familiar with the conditions of entry and play for any event in which they intend to compete. Starting Times In all events under the control of this Club, play shall not commence before the first scheduled tee-off time. Checking In Competitors must report to the Starter at least ten minutes prior to their starting time. Players arriving late but within five minutes of their starting time will be penalised two strokes in stroke play or the first hole in match play. (Rule 5-3a Time of Starting of the Rules of Golf.) Booking Sheets for weekend play are available on the Wednesday of the previous week from 5.45 am at the kiosks in the clubhouse, from 6.00 am on-line via the Club s website. Members should book early and may book in only one group. Cancellations Members must give at least two hours notice if cancelling their booking. The Match Committee may penalise members who fail to do so. Fixtures The type of competition set down for any particular day may be altered by the Match Committee without notice, but, where possible, due notice shall be given. Eligibility To compete in club events, members must be financial and maintain a handicap (see also Membership Categories on page 4). The Match Committee may, at its discretion, arrange allotted handicaps for Special Events for those members whose handicaps may have lapsed. Players handicaps may be reduced during play of competitions over more than one round. Members of the PGA are not eligible to compete in Club Championships and other Major Events. When playing in Club competitions they are eligible to win NET prizes only. Entries Fields for Major Trophy events may, at the discretion of the Match Committee, be drawn or varied. Order of Play All competitions must start from the 1st tee unless otherwise directed by the Match Committee (penalty: disqualification). Non-Competition Richardson & Wrench NORTHBRIDGE & CASTLECRAG 11

players (except those returning cards for handicapping purposes) should not commence play until all competition players have hit off. Markers Competition Cards must be marked by a fellow-competitor unless special circumstances warrant the appointment by the Match Committee of a Marker. (Competitors should avoid consistent marking of their cards by the same fellow-competitor.) Returning Cards All cards should be returned even though a player has incurred disqualification or has failed to complete the round. Handicaps In all events (including those played over more than one round), the current handicap on the day of play shall be used, unless otherwise determined by the Match Committee. Visitors Visitors are eligible to compete in only such programmed events as are indicated. For competition purposes, a visitor must be a financial member of a recognised golf club affiliated with the NSW Golf Association or similar interstate or overseas association affiliated with the controlling authoritative body. Open Events Entry forms for open events at other courses shall be exhibited on the notice board by the Match Committee or General Manager. Members are advised to avail themselves of opportunities to play in events promoted by other affiliated clubs for which entry is invited. House Rules Members shall acquaint themselves with the House Rules, which include all matters pertaining to the Bar, Locker Rooms, etc, and should watch the notice board for any changes. BLACK TEE MARKERS Members aged 65 or over may elect to use the black tee markers that are provided on some holes, but they are then deemed to be playing their second shot from the tee. Furthermore, they are not eligible to win Blue Marker or Tiger Tuesday events, Monthly Medals, Club Championships or Men s Major Events listed in this Handbook. GRADES The current breakdown of grades is: A Grade Up to 13.4 (A Reserve 8.5 to13.4 for Club Championships only) B Grade 13.5 to 20.4 C Grade 20.5 to 36.4 NOTE: Golf Australia (GA) handicaps are used, not daily handicaps MENS HANDICAPS Establishing To obtain an Australian Men s Handicap, a player must submit 12 Richardson & Wrench NORTHBRIDGE & CASTLECRAG

three cards properly signed by a player with a current Golf Australia handicap. All cards submitted to be marked For Handicap. The maximum (exact) Australian Men s Handicap is 36.4 (i.e. a playing handicap of 36). Maintaining A player must report in writing (or by returning the cards) to his Home Club, all competition-round scores returned by him at other clubs, including clubs of which he is also a member.
