1990 - No. 37 FISHERIES AND OYSTER FARMS ACT 193 - REGULATION (Relating to size limits, bag limits and prohibited species) NEW SOUTH WALES [Published in Gazette No. 80 of 22 June 1990] HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Fisheries and Oyster Farms Act 193, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder. IAN ARMSTRONG Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Commencement 1. This Regulation commences on 1 July 1998. Amendments 2. The Fisheries and Oyster Farms (General) Regulation 1989 is amended: (a) by inserting after clause 32 (2) (f) the following paragraph: (g) in the case of turban snail - the diameter of the shell is to be measured along its longest axis. (b) by omitting the Table to clause 32 and by inserting instead the following Table: 1

PART 3 (FISH - FRESHWATER AND ESTUARINE) Australian Bass Macquaria comprised wholly of novemaculeata bass or wholly of Estuarine Perch Macquaria colonorum perch or partly of Macquarie Perch Macquaria australasica 2 Salmon, Atlantic Salmo salar 10 comprised wholly Trout, American Salvelinus fontinalis of salmon or wholly of Trout, Brown Salmo trutta trout or partly or Trout, Rainbow Oncorhynchus mykiss (f) by inserting at the end of clause 61 (2) the following words: Australian Grayling (Prototroctes maraena) EXPLANATORY NOTE The object of this Regulation is to amend the Fisheries and Oyster Farms (General) Regulation 1989: (a) to prescribe a minimum size for yellowtail kingfish and turban snails and to specify how the size of a turban snail is to be measured; and (b) to restate the complete list of fish to which a minimum size is applicable with some variations to the species names; and (c) to remove the special bag limit applicable to Lake Canobolas; and (d) to restate the complete list of fish to which a bag limit is applicable including the addition of certain species of bream, kingfish, mackerel, mulloway, snapper, teraglin, tuna, crab and perch; and (e) to prohibit the taking of, or any attempt to take, fish known as Australian grayling.
