The meeting was held at Finish Line Bar and Grill in Pomona. The flag salute was led by Jimmy Morrison. Roll call was taken by Jayn Reusch (standing in for VP Gary Parkin) There were 16 members, 3 qualifying members, and 1 guest present. The guest was honorary member, Katie Kimpton. The minutes from the March meeting were read by Karyn Gerwien (standing in for Secretary, Linda Torrey), and approved with a motion from Greg Cunningham and a 2 nd by Mark Phelps. There was no Treasurer s report given, as Treasurer, Jerry Torrey was absent. It was reported that Karlan Bennett s dues were received, so there is now only 1 member left who s dues remain unpaid! There were NO new bills presented. No Conservation report was given. No Delegates report was given. Old Business: February Trip Report to Last Chance Canyon was given by Mark Phelps. It was cold. About a high of 53 degrees. Everyone had a great time. Rode with Johnny and Patrick which was really nice having a heater to keep warm. There were 13 jeeps on the trail, and a lot of campers. The area was beautiful. David Meyer tried to show off and had to get towed out. Mark suggested the boner flag for him, but David did finish the trail. He got into some trouble getting thru a V notch. Rutherford and Buckley showed up too. Rutherford brought his jeep but never took it off the trailer... just rode with Buckley instead. At the end of the trail, they ended up at Schmidt s tunnel that was about 2000 feet long. It was very cool to walk thru (with flashlights) and out the other end overlooking a dry lake bed. A lot of history and great things to explore. A good time was had by all! HIGH DESERT ROUND UP There was a discussion about High Desert Round Up. Gary Parkin and Don Rybie have volunteered to chair the Potato Race. Approximately 50 people are needed to run the event. PLEASE CALL GARY PARKIN as soon as possible to let him know if you are willing and able to help!!!!! Gary s contact number is (714)595-2612. We will be putting the final details together at the May 4 th club meeting. CLUB PLAQUES Jerry Torrey announced that he ordered the new Drifter plaques and he will be picking them up from Charles next week. He will have them here at the next meeting in April. The campground has been changed to The Springs at Borrego RV Resort. Campsites are $26 with full hookups. The trail will be the Lower Coyote Canyon trail, very scenic and moderate jeeping. Campground reservations must be made in advance. Trail bosses are Norm Gerwien, Joey Morrison and Rybie. May Run Mark Phelps reported that the May run will be a one day run to Calico on May 6 th. Camping is available too, if anyone is interested. They have not done the pre-run yet, so more details to follow. June Run No date / no plans to report as of yet. PAST PRESIDENTS PICNIC will be in August. Vince is doing some research for a location in the High Desert Mojave Narrows off of Bear Valley. It was suggested that it might be too hot in the High Desert in August! The other option being considered is to go back to Ramona where the 2016 PPP was held. Nominations for Officers for the upcoming year were discussed. Current president Vince Reusch announced that he had talked to all of the current officers and all had agreed to offer to serve another term! Norm Gerwien made a motion to close the nominations, and that motion was seconded!
