Tournament@ Fenton Away 9:00AM -6th Place Thursday 04/24/14 Timothy Christian Away Week 1 The boys tennis began the 2014 season with a win at Bolingbrook High School. Winners included Brennan Ciborowski at 3 singles, Chris Olszlewski at 4th singles, Andrew Pilewski and Ben Pollock at 2nd doubles, and freshman tandem Frankie Filec and Matthew Pilewski at 3rd doubles.

In their second match, the Bulldogs fell to Willowbrook but once again got strong play from the doubles team of Andrew Pilewski and Ben Pollock, this time at 1st doubles. Junior Peter Pribyl Pierdinock made his debut at 1st singles. After a rusty first set, he played a solid 2nd set against his opponent and has shown nice improvement in his game from last season. Peter and Andrew have established themselves as the leaders of the team this season. The Bulldogs next compete against Shepard High School on Thursday afternoon. Go Bulldogs! Week 2 The boys tennis team had 3 competitions this past week, against Addison Trail on both levels, Chicago Christian, and the Leyden Quad (varsity only). The frosh-soph notched a win on Wednesdayagainst Addison Trail and were led by sophomores Chris McCoy and Remy Doornebos at 1 and 2 singles and the freshman 1st doubles tandem of Frankie Filec and Matthew Pilewski. On the varsity level, RB dropped a heart-breaker to the Blazers 4-3, but had nice winning matches from their top 3 doubles teams: Andrew Pilewski and Ben Pollock at 1, Alex Muntean and JP Sengstock at 2, and Chris Detloff and Nick Sum at 3. On Thursday, the varsity competed against Chicago Christian. While they fell 4-1, the debut of junior Andrew Pilewski at 2 singles was a huge success. He dominated his opponent with a 6-1, 6-0 outcome. On Saturday, April 12th, the bulldogs competed at the Leyden quad. Despite the 4th place team finish, RB was led by victories by Andrew Pilewski at 1 singles, JP Sengstock at 2 singles, and the 3rd doubles team of Elvis Begic and Luke Suprenant, who medaled after a 2nd place finish on the day. The Bulldogs next compete on both levels against Nazareth Academy on Monday, April 14th. Week 3

On Wednesday, April 16th, the bulldogs traveled to Nazareth Academy to compete on the varsity level, while the frosh-soph squad hosted Naz. The younger bulldogs fell 0-4 to Nazareth but had a strong showing by the freshman doubles team of Frankie Filec and Matthew Pilewski. On varsity, RB lost 1-6 but had a strong outcome by junior Peter Pribyl Pierdinock, who had a come-from-behind victory despite dropping the first set. On Saturday, April 19th, RB competed in the Wheeling Wildcat Invite hosted by (spoiler alert!) Wheeling High School. Competitors included the aforementioned PPP, Andrew Pilewski, JP Sengstock, Alex Muntean, Ben Pollock, and Elvis Begic. While a number matches were quite close, the bulldogs had a hard time sealing wins on the day. Peter had the best finish for RB. He battled some sore blistery feet to outlast his counterpart from Mundelein High School. He fell in a tight match to the 1st singles player from Addison Trail, and he played some of his best tennis of the season against a high quality Wheeling opponent. Next week is very busy for RBHS, hosting Elmwood Park on both levels next Tuesday, traveling to Shepard on Wednesday, and splitting sites with Timothy Christian on Thursday. It's definitely the busy stretch of the season. Go Bulldogs! Week 4 It was a busy week for the Bulldog tennis team--many competitions surrounded the Prairie State Achievement Exam on Wednesday and Thursday for this junior-heavy squad. On Tuesday, RB began conference play with a duel match against Elmwood Park. The Tigers would prevail 4-3, but RB got nice victories from Andrew Pilewski (2nd singles), Ben Pollock (3rd singles), and the doubles team of Joe Tan and Brennan Ciborowski (4th doubles). On Wednesday, have juniors sparred with the ACT in the main gym, the Bulldogs traveled to Shepard to compete against the Astros. 2 positions got victories this day, both on the singles side--peter Pribyl Pierdinock outlasted his opponent at the top singles slot, while sophomore Chris McCoy got into the win column at the varsity level with a comeback victory at 3rd singles. After falling at home to Timothy Christian on Thursday, the Bulldogs played in the District 88 Classic hosted by Willowbrook High School on Saturday, April 26th. After a rough showing last season in this tournament, RB had a very positive day, finishing 4th out of the 8 team field. Every position had at least 1 win on the day, and the team was led by co-captains Peter Pribyl Pierdinock and Andrew Pilewski, both of whom claimed a bronze medal (that's 3rd place

for those non-sports fans out there) at 1st and 2nd singles, respectively. Freshmen Frankie Filec and Matthew Pilewski played in their first varsity tournament together as a doubles team. They are still adjusting to a new game but have shown much potential as they continue to be competitive against more seasoned opponents every match they play. The Bulldogs next play host to Hinsdale South on the level on Monday, April 28th. Week 5 The boys tennis team fought off some interesting weather all week to compete in 2 events: a duel meet against Iliana Christian on Tuesday, April 29th, and the Brother Rice Crusader Classic on Saturday, May 3rd (incidentally coach Denny's father's birthday: Happy Birthday, Dad!). In any event, the Bulldogs fell 4-1 to I.C. in a match that was called early due to electrostatic charge buildup in the atmosphere. RB was led by the promising play of sophomore Chris McCoy at 3rd singles. He has worked diligently on his game in the offseason to cement himself as a member of the varsity lineup. This past Saturday, the Bulldogs finished 6th out of 8 teams at the Brother Rice Invite. RB got at least 1 win at 3 out of the 4 positions. Frankie Filec and Chris McCoy got additional varsity experience at 2 doubles, but team scoring was dominated by 2 singles players, Peter Pribyl Pierdinock and Andrew Pilewski. Peter medaled, finishing 4th out of the 16 player field. Andrew lost the dreaded first-round match, but then went 3-1 on the day to win the consolation bracket and finish 9th out of 16. RBHS competes in 2 conference matches this coming week: Glenbard South and Fenton. Come support your Bulldog tennis studs! Week 6 The Bulldogs had 2 conference matches this week: Glenbard South on Tuesday and Fenton on Thursday. Unfortunately, in most matches, the Raiders made quick work of RBHS, but at 3rd singles, Chris the "yachtsman" McCoy fought back from dropping the first set to win the second. He and his opponent battled deep into the 3rd set, but Chris dropped a heartbreaker

at the end. At Fenton on Thursday, varsity fell 4-3 but had solid play from both Peter the "Dreamboat" Pilewski and Andrew "Arsenal" Pilewski, who won at 1st singles and 2nd singles, respectively. Week 7 It was an active week for the RBHS tennis program, with matches against Maine West on Monday, Proviso West on Thursday, and the Metro Suburban Conference tournament on Saturday. The match against the Warriors was postponed due to wild weather as the tornado siren blared across the landscape. At the time the players were pulled from the court, RB was behind 3-2 still with the opportunity to win the team total. As for individual play, the Bulldogs got wins from Brennan "choirboy" Ciborowski and silky smooth Luke Suprenant at 3rd doubles and Nick the "marksman" Sum and Chris "mo' money mo' problems' Detloff at 4th doubles. RB shuffled the lineup a wee bit against Proviso West on Thursday, rolling out what would ultimately be their singles lineup at the MSC tournament on Saturday: Nick Sum at 1, Chris Detloff at 2, and Chris "lit dynamite" Olszlewski at 3. Chris McCoy and Ben Pollock played 1 doubles, while Frankie Filec/Matthew Pilewski played 2 doubles. The Bulldogs won at every position en route to a 5-0 victory. At the conference tournament, the team finished in 6th place, getting match victories from Chris Olszlewski at 3rd singles and Frankie Filec/Mattew Pilewski at 4th doubles. The Bulldogs next compete at the Sectional Tournament hosted by Hinsdale Central on Friday, May 23rd at 1:00 pm. Come support RB!
