Click here SLC NEWSLETTER 13TH APRIL 2018 Golf Results Wednesday s stableford event had some great scoring with James Cooper winning A Grade with 42 points, Hai Truong taking out B Grade with 39 points on a countback C Grade was won by John McCormack 2ith 41 points. B grade s Joshua Ridge played excellent golf to take out Saturday s Monthly Medal with a nett 67. Reigning Club Champion Mark Grimsditch showed the A graders the way winning on a countback withy nett 72, while in C Grade Adam Carthew shot a nett 73 to claim the win. Sunday stableford had a blistering day of scores with 45 points topping the leader board from Andrew Snopczynski in B Grade. C grade was won by Luke Murray with 42 points and A grade taken out by David Blacker with 40 points. Monday Masters competition drew a good field with one player that played like he was at Augusta, Rob Laski with a superb 45 points, second was Peter Barron with 40 points! We had another great turnout of 37 fine gentlemen for yet another edition of the Sanctuary Lakes Vets competition. Weather conditions were ideal, with no excuses for the players. The results are as follows The commander and chief Phil Cartledge took out his second Vets Comp - John McCormack badge posting an excellent score of 41 points, also winning VA grade in the process. Andy Baczkowski was very unlucky to come in second place, falling 1 shot behind Phil with 40 points. This weeks VB competition was extremely close. We had a 3-way tie at the top of the leader board between John McCormack, Howard Hughes and James McCaughey all finishing with a solid 36 points. In second place we had yet another tie between Mr Ho k Chun and David Macdonald with scores of 35 points. It was great to see VB grade being so hotly contested! Alan Pilkington won himself a handy $37 by claiming the Pro Pin on the 2nd hole.

The storms threatened but the only storm that arrived for the Tuesday Ladies par competition was Sue Kim with a great round of +3 to win the Ladies pin by a shot from Lorraine Jennings was with +2. Well done to Elaine Belcher picking up the NTP on the 2nd hole! Pennant Update Congratulations to our Men s Pennant team who continued their excellent run of form. They came out victorious against Rossdale over the weekend out at Rosanna by a score of 4-3.

Unfortunately our Colts Pennant team were narrowly defeated By Rosanna by a score of 3-2. They will bounce back next week! Sponsors Day It was a busy Saturday with 153 members playing for the April Melbourne City Lexus Monthly Medal. Sponsors were set up from the putting green to the clubhouse function rooms, and novelties on the course.

We had long drive extraordinaire Chris Andrews monitoring the straightest drive on the first hole all day only to see Kerry Hansford extremely unlucky to be beaten after hitting it to within 0.2m of the desired target. Eugene Korbut hit the drive of the day which ended up right on the target line, and won himself a Excel GPS Rangefinder Watch sponsored by Bushnell. Here is proof of the drive as provided by Trackman below On the 2nd hole we had the 2 metre circle competition in which anyone who hit their shot within this circle, received a Bluetooth Speaker provided sponsored by Telstra Point Cook. Rob Vernali, Jason McClintock, Zack McIsaac, Gary House and Darren McCann all managed to do so, enjoy your speakers guys! On Holes 6 and 11 we had the Pro Pin in which the winner received a pair of Sunglasses sponsored by Maui Jim. Tim Nevett won it on the 11th hole while Rob Goegan hit his 2nd career hole in one on the 6th hole to claim the sunglasses. Keong Chan claimed the NTP on the 17th hole receiving a box of Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls. We had a lucky scorecard draw whom will win a Golf Bag sponsored by Titleist. Colts Pennant player Johan Gwee was lucky enough to win the excellent bag. We also had a draw in which anyone who spent a minimum of $50 on anything Footjoy in the golfshop on the day went into the draw to win a pair of Footjoy Contour golf shoes. This was won by the quickest golf player at the Club Les Fekete. The shoes will all but guarantee Les will now play even faster. The winners of A, B and C grade which were Mark Grimsditch, Josh Ridge and Adam Carthew all won themselves Bluetooth speakers sponsored by Telstra Point Cook, while the wooden

spooners of the day also won a prize receiving a Callaway Cap. However we don t want to embarrass these people by naming them... For all those whom have won prizes, these are available to be collected at the Golf Shop. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their continuous support to the club : Entertaining Environments, Sanctuary Lakes Real Estate, Melbourne City Lexus, The Foot Clinic Point Cook, Telstra Point Cook, Brumby Sign & Design, Whitelaw Flynn Lawyers, All Green Nursery, Bolle, Spiire, Veolia, Priority Cargo, Melbourne Dental & X-Ray, Quantum United, DG Plumbing, Remedy Consulting, Universal Cleaning & Grange Banks Commercial Coatings. Black Tee Challenge On Friday the 6th of April we held the first round of the Black Tee challenge. Rosa Park won the days competition playing off the pink tees with an outstanding score of 41 points. By doing this she won herself an umbrella as well as a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1 golf balls. Just when you thought her day couldn t get any better, she won the NTP on the 11th hole receiving a FJ nylon shoe bag. Charlie Costa came in second place with an excellent score of 39 points winning a FJ shirt. The next round will be on Friday the 4th of May so be sure to book yourself in as there are only limited spots available and great prizes to be won! New Member Induction

Last Thursday night Captain Alex Franklin and Professional Chris Andrews welcomed 7 new Members to Sanctuary Lakes. Please make welcome new members; Robert Flack, William Hall, Kashif Bashir, Andrew Caithness, Jack Huang, Daniel Lopez and Kyung Min. Volunteers wanted! We continue to seek a team of volunteers to assist in a myriad of duties to help keep the Club and Course humming. These include; Pennant Hosting Duties We will be hosting VGA Division 2 Pennant on Sunday April 22nd. To provide the best possible experience for visiting players and officials we require a number of Members to assist on the day. Duties will include, starting announcements, car park attendants, scoring assistance, driving range marshalling and general directions and welcoming. Course Marshalling Driving Range Monitoring Range Ball collection Line Marking and course maintenance If you have any other suggestions where you feel volunteers could assist in maintaining the Clubhouse or course we are happy to receive suggestions. School Holiday Clinics What a great turnout for the School Holiday Clinics run by Teaching Professional Chris Andrews. These clinics were a fantastic opportunity to introduce the children to the game of golf and to help improve their golfing skills.

Attention: Autumn Golf Sale

Prices marked to clear on golf clubs, apparel & everything you need to change your game for the better! Get in and take advantage of our autumn clearance sale. Inclusiveness Here at Sanctuary Lakes Club we are dedicated to building an inclusive culture giving everybody the opportunity to learn and play golf at our course. We will no longer require that new members need to be nominated to join our club. We view this need to be nominated is a tradition that relates to private clubs and it out of touch with golf today. New members will still be placed on the board above the scoring computers for a period of two weeks for existing member comment. Upcoming Events
