The Ohio State Moose Association Horseshoe Tournament will be held here on August 25, 26, and 27. Moose members from all over the state will be joining us for the weekend. The Mixed Doubles Tournament starts on Friday at 6 p.m. Men s and Women s Singles will be all day Saturday, and the Men s and Women s Doubles is on Sunday. If you re interested in competing, the registration forms are on the Sports Board next to the pool table. There are different skill levels so don t worry that the competition may be too tough! WE NEED SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS TO HELP THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND. There are many ways you can help: cooking and/or serving meals, selling 50/50 s, collecting money for food sales, trash detail, shuttling players back and forth to their hotel, and any other thing that we haven t thought about yet! We also need members or your high school or college-age child/ grandchild to be scorekeepers. A little bit of a knowledge of horseshoe scoring helps but it isn t necessary. We ll train you on how the scoring is done at the state level (because it s different than a typical game). Scorekeepers receive tips from the players so it s a fun way to earn a little extra cash! Sign up sheets will be posted in the lodge starting in August or you can contact Marsha Warrington. This is the same tournament that we hosted two years ago. Everyone from the other lodges said how wonderful our lodge was and how much fun they had. We are expecting more players this year, so let s continue to show our visitors how great Sylvania Moose Lodge 1579 is!
