3 The South Port Burgee flies again in BVI by Jackie Timothy The Browns, Aseltines, Waltons and Robichauds headed to BVI March 6, 2009 and spent a week sailing aboard a 42 Catamaran Imagine. With 4 cabins and heads, and 4 good skippers, we started off in Road Town on Tortola and visited Norman Island, Peter Island, Cooper Island, Spanish Town, Monkey Point, Leverick Bay on Virgin Gorda, and continued on to Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Spit and White Bay then on to Sopers Hole spending our last night moored in Little Harbour. We motored back to Road Town Saturday morning March 14th. Imagine flew the American Flag, South Port Burgee, our Commodores flag for Rene, and the Canadian and Ontario flags. We ate most meals aboard, enjoying great dinners on the BBQ. We sunned, snorkeled, took the dinghy in to the Islands, and enjoyed lots of laughs. Lisa and Nora took a turn at the helm, but the ladies left the handling of the yacht to the guys! All our concerns about hairdryers and makeup vanished within a day! We docked our evening in Spanish Town celebrating an early 30th Anniversary dinner for Tim & Denise. The night ended with gag gifts on our return to Imagine over after dinner drinks. The weather cooperated, although very windy for this time of year. On the 13th we experienced some minor rain showers. Other than the usual flight delays returning home, it was a great trip! Snorkeling BBQing Sunning Edible what?? Happy Anniversary Tim & Denise! Pg 3 April 2009 Soundings

4 Head Sailing School instructor Darcy Fuller is hard at work with the paper work preparing for the new season! 42 degrees 19`03 82 degrees 50`33 Thank you..it looks great! Our fireplace wall has a new look thanks to the efforts of Peggy Shearn over the painting weekend. The technique is a faux treatment that simulates pitted travertine. A wallpaper liner is installed and from there Peggy s talents went to work! The Latitude and Longitude of the Club is painted above each bookcase, and hanging in the center of the wall is a new piece of sailboat art Pg 4 April 2009 Soundings

If you have been to the clubhouse lately, you will have noticed the main room and hallway have been painted. If you have not been out, you are in for a treat! On the weekend of March 6, 7, 8th. we held the first work party of 2009. Before we started, Gord Richardson delivered both his and John Bufton s extension ladders. Friday night the 6th, Greg Schlosser and his sons, Paul, Mark and Mike cleaned the ceiling fans, moved the furniture and pictures and prepared the walls for painting. Peggy put wallpaper lining above the fireplace and primed it in preparation for a new look. Saturday the 7th, Bev Pryce, Denis Rivet, Jay Laird and Graham Cowen painted the main room, while Peggy continued work on the fireplace wall. Sunday the 8th, Bev, Jay and Rachelle and 3 year old daughter Jayda, painted the hallway. The same day the fireplace was completed. That evening Greg returned with his sons to reset all the furniture, hang pictures and replace the switch plates. Thank you to the members above who volunteered their time. Pg 5 April 2009 Soundings
