Report on Sports and Games for the Academic Year 2012 13 Miss. Nikhat Banu, B.Com (Gen) II, represented India in the GAC Group International Table Tennis Federation World Tour German Open at Bremen, Germany, held from October 31 to November 4, 2012. She also participated in six national ranking tournaments and five State Ranking tournaments and won the women s title in the state championships in the youth and senior category. She participated in the National held at Raipur, Chhattisgarh from 7 th to 12 th January, 2013, and won the Doubles Championship title partnering Spoorthy, representing Andhra Pradesh, after a gap of 40 s. A stupendous feat indeed!! Well done Miss. Nikhat. She was again instrumental in the college table tennis team winning the Osmania University Inter collegiate table tennis championships for the second consecutive along with Maria and Arifa Shaik Loyola Academy basketball team for men won the Osmania University Inter-collegiate championship for the third consecutive in the Osmania University Inter college tournament held at Nizam College from 23 to 25 The college basketball team won the Inter college Invitation tournament for the CCOB CUP for the second in succession in the tournament organized by City College Old Boys Association held in the month of October, 2012. The team entered the Hyderabad District Basketball Association League, and emerged as the only institutional team to reach the semi-finals along with fancied teams like South Central Railway, Customs and Central excise, and AOC. The team won the II place, the second time in succession, in the Independence Cup tournament organized by YMCA, Secunderbad. The college basketball outfit for the first time participated in the Bertram Memorial south India level basketball tournament organized by Loyola College, Chennai. The college team covered itself with glory by their stunning performance both in the local circuit and in invitation tournaments outside the state. The Loyola Academy volleyball team won the Osmania University Inter Collegiate championships beating Vasundara Degree College in straight sets in the tournament held at Loyola Games Enclave from the 17-18, The college team emerged as the best outfit in the state among colleges when it won the Hyderabad District Association sponsored League for colleges by winning the title and also the prize money of Rs. 10,000/-. The team won the title and the Gopal Reddy Trophy by winning the inter-college invitation tournament organized by Gopal Reddy Engineering College, Ibrahimpatnam.
The college outfit, in their first ever outing outside the state, won the IV place in the Bertram Memorial South-Zone Inter College tournament organized by Loyola College, Chennai from the 18-22 August, 2012. The College Handball team for men won the Osmania University Inter-Collegiate championship in the OU inter college tournaments held at Bhavan s, Sainikpuri from 13-14, November, 2012, for the first time since the inception of the college. The college team for women was the runner-up in the Osmania University Inter Collegiate championships held at St. Ann s, from 24-25 The College chess team for men, represented by Abhishek Paul, Rakesh, Kedar Pandey, Suman, Abhiram, and Thirupathi Rao, won the IV place in the Osmania University Inter-collegiate Chess championships held from 19 21, August 2012, in which 38 colleges took part. Abhishek Paul, B.A Mass communication, III, was adjudged the best board player of the tournament. The College Net ball team for men won the IV place in the Osmania University Inter Collegiate Netball held at Little Flower Degree College on the 24 th December, 2012. The College Korfball team won the Osmania University Inter Collegiate Korfball for the first time ever, with this being the first time of participation as well, covering itself with glory in the championships held on 27 th December, 2012 at Osmania University grounds. It is pertinent to point out here that the team comprising of 8 men and 8 women, was ably led to victory by Sri Ganesh Patil, M.B.A I, who is an international korfball player and who got selected to play for India in the World held at Barcelona, Spain. Well done boys and girls! The college Football team won the IV place in the Osmania University Inter Collegiate Football championships in the tournament held from 27-29, December, 2012, at Osmania University grounds. The college football team(5-a-side) participated in the tournament organized by Johnson Football Club for the Johnson Memorial Trophy and won the Runner-up trophy along with a prize money of Rs. 3000. The team was represented by Avinash Isreal, Ivan, Lalramsangliana, Ramdinsanga, Clinton and Nehal. In the Osmania University inter-college Athletic Meet held at Lal Bahadur Stadium in November, 2012, Miss. Harshita, B.Sc Maths I, won the Gold in the 400m and has been selected to represent Osmania University in the All India Inter to be held at Kalyani. Mr. P. Vinod Kumar, B.Sc (Comp. Maintenance) I, won the bronze in Long Jump in the Osmania University Inter college athletic championships held at Lal Bahadur Stadium. Miss. Ranjana Yadav, B.Sc (FT) III, represented Hyderabad District in the senior category in the A.P state Inter District Hockey.

Intramural Competitions-2012-13 Intramural competitions were held from the month of June 2012 to January 2013, in various games and sports for men and women. Competitions were held in Cricket, Football, Basketball,, Handball, Table Tennis, Badminton, chess and track and field events for men and Throw ball, Basketball, table tennis, badminton and track and field events for women. Around 1300 men and women participated in these tournaments and around 300 prizes to the winners were distributed. These competitions, which are a regular feature of the curriculum, serve as the selection trials to pick the college teams as well.
The present policy of sports promotion was introduced in the 2007-08 and during the span of these five s, Loyola Academy Degree and PG College has emerged as the third best college in sports and games in Osmania University in the men s category securing 12 points and winning four titles and 3 fourth places. Fr. Baliah Memorial National-Level Inter-Collegiate Tournaments-2013 The fifth edition of the basketball and the second edition of the tournaments were held from the 8 to 11 February, 2013. Around 14 teams from all over the country participated in the tournament which was inaugurated on 8 th February by Col. Amarjyoti Roy, Commanding Officer, 8 Andhra Battalion NCC. The tournament was a resounding success with Loyola Academy Degree and PG college basketball and volleyball outfits reaching the finals, but had to contend with the Runners-up trophy in both the games. SKASC, Coimbatore in volleyball and R. JhunJhunwala, Mumbai emerged victorious in basketball. Md. Rizwan, international basketball player graced the occasion as guest of honor.
