CVBD WOMEN S MATCH COMMITTEE REPORT FOR NOVEMBER, 2017. Thank you Madam Chairman. The CVBD Women s Match Committee report is as follows. The Women s State Triples were finalised October 25 th ; in the semi-finals; Beryl Eddy and team defeated Beryl Murray s team. The other semi was between Sandra Connolly and team against Melissa Robert s trio. Sandra and team prevailed. In the final Laurelle Smith, Margot Brennan and Beryl Eddy, Moama; defeated Mary Ann Spizer, Marilyn Stephenson and Sandra Connolly, also from Moama. Beryl s team will play the Region Final at a venue to be announced on February 11 th, 2018. The State Fours have not been completed. Inclement weather on the first day saw the need for a third day to play the final. Due to other events this will be played January 15 th, at a venue to be decided. This will be played between Pauline Humbert, Lois Chugg, Phylis Macfarlane, and Kath Palmer from Lockington and Sandra Connolly, Merilyn Rehe, Marilyn Stephenson and Melissa Roberts from Moama. The State Pairs were finalised last Monday. The semi-finals were played in the morning, with Marilyn Stephenson and Sandra Connolly (Moama) defeating Denise Pappin and Lyn Moon (Rochester). In the other semi, Chris Ritchie (sub) and Kath Wastell (Moama) defeated Margot Brennan (Moama) and Marg Knight (Rochester). The afternoon final saw the Moama members go head to head for the title. With great bowls being played by both teams; the result was in favour of Marilyn and Sandra. These ladies now play the Region final at a venue to be decided on February 18 th, 2018. This season the CVBD Ladies Match Committee are in control of the State Mixed Pairs. The first round of this event will be played at Tongala Bowls Club on December 3 rd : 9.00 am for a 9.30 am start. Entries close at 6pm November 25 th, with Joy McArthur; 0415 671 283 or email joy@cvbd.com.au if that doesn t work, try dmcarthur7@bigpond.com.the second day will be played on February 4 th, 2018 at a venue to be decided. The next event on the State Women s calendar is the State Singles. These dates have been brought forward a week; due to our State Over 60 s Pairs, Beryl Eddy and Sandra Connolly playing in the State Finals at Sebastopol on the dates this event was scheduled. We wish them every success. Entries close November 26 th, with new dates of play being December 4 th and 11 th, and will be played at Moama Bowls Club. Men s Match Committee: The CVBD State Championships are progressing well. The Novice Singles played at Moama was won by last years runner up Mark Evans defeating Mathoura`s Justin McKellar. Mark now represents CVBD on December 3 rd against the Bendigo representative. The six sections of the State Pairs were played at Rich River in ideal conditions. The section winners 1-6 were, L.Franklin / S.Lang. S.Cunnington / G.Beattie. C.& D.Keenan. W.Brooks / P.Thorn. G.Dorward / B.Brennan. G.O`Brien / K.Brennan. The post section was played at Rich River last Sunday, L.Franklin / S.Laing d G.Dorward / B.Brennan..W.Brooks / P.Thorn d G.O`Brien / K. Brennan. L.Franklin / S.Laing d C & D Keenan, W.Brooks / P.Thorn d S.Cunnington / G.Beattie. The final will be played at Deniliquin R S L on Sunday November 26 th. Games were exchanged when R S L could not use their greens last month and Moama & Rich River agreed to swap venues. The night match between Mathoura & Moama has been changed to be played at Mathoura on Friday 1 st December at 6pm.[This has still to be confirmed.] Joe Murphy Men`s Match Committee Chair Umpires: NIL Bendigo Campaspe Bowls Region: NIL GENERAL BUSINESS 1. City of Echuca Proposed Motion Discussion a. Lockington and Tongala have both offered to 2 nd the Motion b. Rich River Marie Stevens was disgusted when she received this Discussion Paper because they had tried to move a similar Motion (re: Promotion and Relegation) in the past with no success. c. Chairperson Pat suggested that we don t stop trying to bring Motions forward on things that hinder our game. 2. Website (ongoing) a. Website Manager is working on the Calendars. You will in the future be able to access You-Tube tutorials to help you utilise the features of the Website. b. Printing of Labels should be going okay by now. Please upload the NEW labels template.

3. Pennant Labels There has been a new Download for printing Labels, make sure that you are using the latest. 4. Super Veterans Day 27 th November 2017 at 10.00am There will be 49 Super-Vets this season in our Division. Chairperson Pat sent Invitations to the Clubs to pass onto their Super Vets. 5. Discussion re following seasons a. Pat stated that she is speaking with Kyabram for the purpose of having a team from there for our comp. b. We need to keep our standards high c. Let weekend pennant players play in Midweek Div 1 to have a stronger competition. d. Change the day we play Midweek Pennant e. Go to triples f. Do Midweek Pennant want a Bye NO. g. Chairperson Pat to have discussions with Graeme Bridge, Bowls Vic CEO. 6. Pennant Results Sheets a. Team Managers & Selectors to be more careful in completing the Result Sheets. b. Once a Team Sheet has been signed off by both Team Managers that s the scores that are utilised in completing data for Ladders etc. 7. Division 1 Night Pennant Game a. Mathoura vs Moama in Discussion b. City of Echuca vs Rich River normal time c. Tongala vs Rochester in Discussion d. Deni vs Deni RSL in Discussion. All Clubs to make sure that their lights are working. 8 Submitting of Tournament Dates to CVBD. Tom Davis Lockington, asked if they could get the Bowls Victoria dates. Secretary Vivienne to check when Bowls Vic dates come out. 9. Bowlers Arms. Question was asked why it was so easy for bowlers to be allowed to use a bowlers arm.

Bowls Australia are looking into the current and regulations to ascertain if they are sufficient. There are approx. 7,000 Victorian Bowlers using the arms. There being no further business the Meeting was closed at 8.08 pm. NEXT MEETING: 18 th January, 2018 at 7.00 pm Vivienne Balfour CVBD Secretary
