Follow The Tour Team West Springfield, MA The West Springfield tour stop started with a special surprise Pat brought his QH stallion, Casper, out of retirement for this event, starting off the day with a special energy! He s as magnificent as ever at 20, and it was great to see him back at a tour stop. Linda had Remmer as well, and both horses played all seven games for an enthusiastic (and HUGE) crowd!
Linda told a bit of her story and talked about archaic horsemanship and how the natural way is becoming more common thanks to Pat and trainers like him. She introduced Horsenalities, and talked about how they impact everything we do with horses. She
played with Remmer a bit, showing off his cutting skills! Pat then came in with Aspen, demonstrating the Four Savvies, including a bridleless jump rope over a barrel! He brought Vanna in and played with her from Aspen s back, showing both a Right-Brain Extrovert s innate behavior and how much can be accomplished when one knows the right psychology to use. She s really quite spectacular!
We had a special guest this weekend Tango, the paint mare who was one of the most difficult demo horses Pat has had (West Springfield, 2004), came back to show us what changes are possible in this program. Tango s partner, who was 7 years old, played with her in all seven games online, with a little help from mom, in a very emotional session. Session Two brought us Linda and Remmer, going into more Horsenalities, Seven Games in all Four Savvies, and how to discover your potential! Linda s demos are always breathtaking, and this one was no exception. She truly improves every time we see her! She was followed by another wonderful Savvy Team from the area, inspiring the crowd to study the program to achieve extraordinary results with their horses. Session Three was a bit different this show. Instead of a demo horse with no exposure to Parelli, this horse was owned by a student of the program, who had gone through Level One with another horse, and was having trouble with this one. Sassy, a Paint mare, is a Left-Brain Introvert/Extrovert who didn t have much respect for anyone. When Pat assessed the situation, he decided this would be a lesson for Lori, not just for Sassy. He made the pedestal into a boat and gave Lori the task to stay in the boat! He gave her tasks to do with Sassy, improving her skills online, moving into some Level Two concepts. Once Lori was persistent with the mare, Sassy got a bit worried that her way no longer worked so well, so Pat emphasized the release and the Friendly game, but he still insisted that Lori hang in there until Sassy made a change. The whole crowd was cheering for Lori as she handled the stress of a lesson with Pat Parelli and a difficult
situation with her horse beautifully the cheers when Sassy finally jumped the barrel were deafening! It was an extremely informative session! Savvy Club Sunday Sunday started off with the Savvy Team s brilliant performances, getting the energy up for another day of savvy! Linda then did a demonstration of what she is learning from Walter Zettl, the dressage master from Germany, showing us areas where she is improving all the time in her pursuit of Grand Prix dressage done naturally.
Pat then came in with Aspen, doing a demonstration of all Four Savvies done to a high level, then he brought in the two Atwood colts, Vision and Especial to show how much a solid foundation and education can improve a horse s life! He demonstrated Online, Liberty, and Freestyle with both colts. Their futures are bright! Session Two brought Linda in to help Savvy Team member Charity with her sorrel Warmblood, who was quite the Right-Brain Extrovert! He was quite unconfident with the crowd and was not interested in anyone s survival but his own. Linda helped Charity teach him to respect her space while helping him feel more confident by using the Seven Games. Interestingly, once her horse gained confidence, he became much more dominant, which allowed Linda to show us another Horsenality profile and set of techniques. She really emphasized moving Zone One, which is what horses do to each other to establish dominance. This session was quite educational for all!
The final session was Pat playing with a Savvy Team member s horse.and everyone who had watched Sherry Harris play with her black quarter horse gelding with a blaze was hoping Pat would choose this Casper look-alike. Well, he did! Sherry s horse was doing some beautiful things, but Pat saw slight lapses in his respect and attentiveness, so he addressed these issues on the ground, and then transferred to the saddle. He played with bending on the circle, and then played lots of the don t make me game, using the Left-Brain Introvert psychology to cause the horse to feel like he is a winner as well. As always, Pat made Sherry s beautiful horse look even better!
Thank you to all the volunteers and ambassadors you make this all possible! Hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as we did!
