Silver Spur Club October 2013 Letter From the President Take Pride and Ownership Paul Smyth President ~ Silver Spur Club Welcome to early fall 2013! We have been cruising right along with our show season. Our club membership is down a bit however our shows have been good. Game attendance, when we are not up against a rodeo, has been good not great. The Performance Division has seen some excellent growth and has also added a mini group that has also added numbers. By the end of the season the club will have had three rodeos on site and several well attended dressage events, overall a very good time for all. With our membership at the low level that it is at, we are seeing a lot of abuse of our rules and of our patients. Our rules are in place to protect the club s liability and the cost of up keep. When non-members use our grounds the insurance we have to carry is NOT VALID. If anyone gives lessons for money on our grounds, we are also NOT COVERED. We have a guest allowance that gives up to three visits per lifetime; NOT per member, NOT per year and NOT per 2014 Royalty Tryouts Good Luck & Have Fun! Jessica Sharpe (360) 286-9238 Applications should have been turned in October 5, 2013 Tryouts will be held October 20, 2013 starting at 10 am located at Spurs Age requirements have changed, please refer to your application for this information. Any and all questions should be directed to Jessica Sharpe (360) 286-9238 DID YOU KNOW? New club t-shirts and sweatshirts are available for purchase. They are available in youth and adult sizes. We even have choices: Short Sleeve, Long Sleeve, Crew-neck and Hooded. There is also a wide array of colors for you to choose from. continued on page 3 I N S I D E T H I S I S S U E 1, 3 Letter From the President 1 Royalty Tryouts 3 Make-Up Game Shows: Results and Schedules 1, 2 New Club T-shirts & Sweatshirts 4, 5 September 2013 Meeting Minutes 6 Annual Halloween Prize Ride 7 Barrel Series Year End Banquet See Page 2 for your order form. continued from page 1 past member. The purpose of the three guest visits is to show our club and to encourage others to join us by becoming members of Silver Spur. We as club members are responsible to police these abuses and to stand behind each other and our club in this effort; or we can all see what we, as members, work for slip away.
