Marquette University provides its student-athletes the opportunity to train in one of the nation s elite practice facilities - The Al McGuire Center. Opened in October 2003, the facility is named after the legendary basketball coach Al McGuire who led the program to an NCAA championship, an NIT title and 295 victories in 13 seasons. Through the generosity of alumni and friends, Marquette Basketball has been provided a facility that is unparalleled as they prepare for the BIG EAST Conference. The $31 million practice and play facility features a 4,000 seat arena and full-size practice gym, strength and conditioning area, sports medicine and athletic training areas, coaches offices, team locker room and lounge, and academic center. The Al McGuire Center provides the best possible environment for the development of Marquette's student-athletes academically, athletically and personally. Practice Gym Marquette Basketball s private full-size practice gym is located on the lower level of the McGuire Center. The practice court is an exact replica of the team s court at the Bradley Center. Academic Center The McGuire Academic Center offers comfort, space and the latest in computing technologies to support Marquette basketball players in achieving academic success. The facility features a completely wireless environment in which student-athletes can work at one of 20 computer stations, four individual tutoring rooms and an adjacent conference room. Strength & Conditioning/ Sports Medicine Facilities Marquette s state-of-the art 4,000 square-foot strength and conditioning facility, plus sports medicine suite that includes a three-pool hydrotherapy room, were designed to assist student athletes in reaching peak performance. Video/Film Editing & Screening Rooms Utilizing the latest in video technology, Marquette basketball coaches and players gather to analyze film in the team s screening room. The room features a 140 screen, DVD, VHS and computer software capabilities, surround sound and theatre-style seating. Men s Basketball Offices, Player Lounge and Locker Room The staff s offices, locker room and player lounge are all conveniently located within steps of the practice gym.

Last season, Steve Novak was one of four unanimous selections to the all-big East Conference first team and was selected in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. Freshman guards Dominic James and Jerel McNeal earned all- Big East Rookie team honors, and James was named the league s rookie of the year. In 2005, Travis Diener became Marquette s fourth consecutive All-Conference USA first team selection and was selected by the Orlando Magic in the 2005 NBA Draft. In 2003, Dwyane Wade became Marquette s first Associated Press First Team All-America selection since 1978, while also capturing Conference USA Player of the Year honors. The year prior, Wade was a Conference-USA first team selection and an honorable mention AP All-American. Along with Wade in 2003, Travis Diener and Robert Jackson both were selected to Conference USA s second team, and Steve Novak was picked to the Conference's All-Freshman Team as well as being chosen the league's Sixth Man of the Year. Other beneficiaries of MU's Individual Instruction Program include Cordell Henry, a second team all-league honoree in 2001-02 and third-team member in 2000-01, and Brian Wardle, a two-time all-conference selection who became the first Marquette player to earn Conference USA first team honors (2000-01). Overall, Tom Crean has developed 17 All-Conference selections in his seven years at Marquette. Marquette is 224-70 all-time in 18 seasons at the Bradley Center, including a remarkable 74-12 record over the last four years. The Golden Eagles have drawn 1.5 million fans since Tom Crean took over 1999 and are the only non-football school to rank among the top 20 nationally in attendance since 2003. In 2005-06, Marquette s average attendance ranked third in the BIG EAST and 18th in the nation.
