MEETING MINUTES May 14 2013 Call to Order: Tony Caracciolo called the meeting to order at 6:30pm and welcomed 37 members and 9 guests. All 2013 officers were present. Minutes: The minutes as printed in the newsletter were approved without any additions or corrections. Financial Report: The April CFC financial status was reported by Greg Stanley the club is on sound financial ground. Membership status: As of April 30th we have 75 members: 67 Full, 8 Associate. National Corvette Museum: Don Paulson spoke about his trip to the Bash at the museum it was all about the C7 corvette. They had both a coupe and a convertible for the attendees to check out. Don spoke about how much was raised for the motor sports track project. Several members of the Corvette racing team were on hand to talk about the Corvette and ALMS racing and the upcoming changes. Don and Debra purchased a C7 corvette tee shirt and had it autographed by the members of the design and racing teams present and have donated it to the club to be sold in our silent auction at the car show in September. The complete report with details can be found in the newsletter Old Business Tony spoke about the following events that were attended by club members Vettes Doin Charleston A small group went and awards were won by Dave Flinchbaugh and Buddy Knapp. Dave also was high bidder for a NASCAR Experience driving school, 22 ND Mount Olive Pickle Festival Car Show several members picked up trophies at this show Tri-Beach Cruisers Bash at the Beach in Shallotte. Rims on the River three members had cars in the show and Peter Ziehl won Best in Show Cape Fear Cruisers 8 th Annual Spring Car Show Landfall Car Show Tony was surprised how many of our members live in Landfall and were displaying their Corvettes at the show Southwest High School 5 th Annual Car, Truck & Bike Show. Shriners & Coastal Cruisers Classic Car & Truck Show Congratulations to all members that won trophies. Well done Family Picnic We had our first annual family picnic Saturday May11th at Moore s Creek Battle Field in Currie. It was catered by Sawmill Catering and we had a great meal of Fried Chicken & Pulled Pork BBQ, Boiled Potatoes & Baked Beans, Garden Salad, Apple Waldorf Slaw, Brownies, Banana Pudding, Ice Tea & Lemonade. We started out in the sunshine but had a short but heavy rain show just about lunch time. After a very tasty lunch the sun came back out and at 2:00 we had a black powder musket firing demonstration and a talk and walk around the battle field by a park ranger that was very informative New Business Upcoming events around our area are Saturday May 18 th is the Twin River Corvette Club Show in New Bern anyone wanting to travel together to New Bern meet at the Harris Teeter in Porters Neck at 8:15 with an 8:30 departure.
Saturday May 18 th 19 th are the dates for the Caro Vettes Corvettes shows in Jacksonville, People s choice on Saturday and judged show on Sunday. To travel together on Sunday meet at Harris Teeter in Porter Neck at 8:45 depart at 9:00 Saturday May 18 th is the GO Automotive 1st Annual Car Show in Wilmington Sunday May 19 th is the Tri Beach Cruisers Spring Fling in Wilmington. Saturday May 25 th is Hotrods & Hamburgers at Ocean Chevy in Shallotte. Saturday May 25 th Tobacco Road Cruisers is having a car show in Swanboro June Events, Saturday June 1 st Corvettes at Myrtle Beach in Myrtle Beach SC. We will meet at the Leland Harris Teeter at 8:45AM and depart at 9:00. Saturday June 1 st Cars and Coffee in Wilmington Saturday June 15 th North Carolina Blueberry Festival Car & Truck Show in Burgaw and the Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet Charity Car Show in Newton, NC John Talatinian spoke about a charity Poker Run the Mustang club is planning for May 19 th and wanted to know if any members would like to join them additional information In the e-mail and newsletter Flyers for all events will be in the newsletter. Club Logo Clothing: Club logo apparel will be available at Best Uniform Inc., 2716 Exchange Dr., Wilmington (910-791-6050). Car Show: Gordon Boyd spoke about the car show flyer and had some for distribution and asked all members to take some and distribute them any place they see a corvette. TECH-TIPS if you have a convertible there is a product called RAGGTOP that s very good for cleaning soft tops. Also if you have small parts that are rusty you can clean them with apple cider vinegar. Also the SCCA website has tips for those of you that plan to take your corvette for a track day. Reminders: Send your Corvette photos to Webmaster John Talatanian at jtdamage@gmail.com.
