Girls Gymnastics The Glenbrook South girls gymnastics team competed in the state meet this past weekend and came away with the thirdplace trophy! This is the second year in a row the team has gone to state and earned third place honors. The Titans edged out CSL rivals New Trier and Maine South to come in behind state champ Glenbard West and second place Prairie Ridge. Leading the way for GBS and placing in the top ten were: Senior Bebe Haramaras 10th place on balance beam Sophomore Jenna Hartley 5th place on vault, 7th place on floor and 9th place in all-around Freshman Sheena Graham 6th place in all-around, 7th place in vault and 7th place on balance beam Friday, the first day of team competition, found the Titans hitting 20 of 20 routines to position themselves in third place, by 0.225 points over New Trier, going into individual finals on Saturday. With Haramaras, Hartley and Graham all competing in the finals, the girls team was able to maintain their third place standing and bring home the trophy. Congrats ladies! Amazing year!

Boys Swimming & Diving

The Boys Swim Team won the IHSA Sectional Meet for the third year in a row, qualifying for state in 10 out of 12 events. The boys qualified all three relays and will have 10 individual swims as well. The youth movement continues as they broke five sophomore and one freshman record this weekend. "We are having fun this year," said coach Keith MacDonald. "We are looking forward to this weekend, we want to qualify for some Saturday swims and gaining some valuable experience." State Qualifiers include: 200 Medley Relay (Hadjiivanov/Schulte/Zuiker/Shechtman) 200 Free Relay (Zuiker/Iida/Shechtman/Chen) 400 Free Relay (Chen,Hadjiivanov/Loughren/Zuiker) Elliot Chen- 200 free/500 free Quinn Loughren-100 Fly/500 free Max Iida-200 I.M./100 Breast Mike Hadjiivanov-100free/100 back Cam Schulte-100 breast Adam Zuiker-100 Fly Good luck at the State meet!

Girls Basketball The girls' varsity basketball team entered its postseason on Tuesday night against Taft. The Titans appeared nervous in the first quarter, falling behind 9-4. The remainder of the game was a different story, as the Titans prevailed 44-31. Libbie Vanderveen and Makayla Stadler made some great plays at the end of the second quarter to give the Titans a 7 point halftime lead. The Titans ran their offense to perfection at the beginning of the second half, as Vanderveen, Stadler, Lizzy Shaw, Liz LaPierre and Kristin Ralston took turns making lay-ups and assisting on the scores. The Titans led by as many as 17, but some clutch

three point shooting by Taft cut the lead to nine in the fourth quarter. Ralston hit a three on the next possession which was the dagger, as the Titans' lead never went below ten. Stadler was everywhere, leading the team with 17 points. Challen Flaws played her usual stellar defense. Next up for the Titans was 28-1 Maine West, many observers choice to win the state title. The Warriors won the CSL North with a 10-0 mark, its closest game a 37 point blowout. They won their regional semi-final by 70 points. The girls had lost an early battle against MW by 25, but were determined to turn things around. Behind an amazing crowd in the Titan dome, the Titans gave Maine West all it could handle. The Warriors led 28-20 at halftime, but the girls remained confident in their ability. A basket by Ralston at the third quarter buzzer on a dish from Vanderveen cut the Maine West lead to 2 entering the final quarter. The Titans took the lead with 7 minutes remaining on a basket and free throw from LaPierre on a great pass from Shaw. However, the Warriors pressure defense and terrific shooting took over the last 6 minutes and the Titans fell 55-39. Stadler, Vanderveen, and Shaw worked havoc on the Maine West guards in the Titans' spread offense. Vanderveen and her teammates held Maine West's leading scorer to no points. LaPierre and Ralston got the Warriors' 6'3 center in foul trouble and Stadler did the same to Maine West's point guard. It was only the second time this year that Maine West was losing in the fourth quarter. Tears were shed after the buzzer sounded, but the girls were proud of the fact that they were playing their best basketball of the year at its conclusion. Seniors Shaw, LaPierre, Halle Smith, Katherine Chu, Jamie Kahn, Molly Sedin, Janet Watson and Megan O'Loughlin will be greatly missed, but the underclassmen are determined to switch spots with Maine West next year. The Titans finished their campaign with a 20-9 record.

Boys Basketball The Titan Boys basketball team lost to Niles West 37-31 on Friday, Feb. 16. The Titans take on Deerfield on the road on Tuesday, Feb 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Boys Hockey Saying that the GBS and GBN hockey teams have played close games this year, is like saying Chicago got a little snow this month. After dropping the opener of a 3-game SHL playoff series 2-0 in Northbrook, the Titans came roaring back at home

on Tuesday night downing GBN 4-2 with scoring provided by Thomas Lundal (2), Patrick Dillon, and Ben Thomas. Jamie Diurdzik stopped 29 shots in net. Saturday night was the "rubber" game of the match in Northbrook and drew a huge, raucous student section to cheer on the Titans. In keeping with the theme of playing close games, GBN was able to break a scoreless tie with only 0.4 seconds left on the clock in the second period. The third period was a back-and-forth battle with the Titans ringing the puck off the goal post twice. Jamie Dziurdzik stopped an incredible 41 shots, but GBN was able to seal the victory by scoring an empty net goal late in the third. This ends the Titans run in the SHL playoffs, but they will open up against Mt. Carmel in the Illinois State Playoffs next Saturday, February 24th, @ 7:55 p.m. @ the Glenview Ice Center. The team really appreciate the continued student support for the GBS Titan Hockey Club. Their in-game enthusiasm drew smiles from South players as well as some opponents. Please continue to demonstrate your high level of fan sportsmanship. Alumni Update: Jack Whetstone '17 Jack Whetstone ('17) is off to great start for Emory University in Atlanta. Jack recently won the 5k at the Dunamis Super Meet held in Emerson, GA. http://www.emoryathletics.com/sports/mtrack/2017-18/releases/dunamisrecap
