CONEWAGO CARVERS NEWSLETTER November 2017 President s Monthly Message Happy Turkey Day! The October meeting was called to order on October 22 nd at 2 p.m. We sent get well cards around for Rick Baker and Nancy Streeter. Hope you are both recovering. The library was open for use. Tressa Barnhart gave our treasurer s report. Jim Hiser presented a fantastic 2018 Seminar agenda. Members of the club have requested power carving classes. Jim has lined up Lori Andrews (animal/horse carver) and Butch Clark (habitat, tree bark & branch). Members wanted a bird class so he lined up Mike Dieter (shorebird). Members wanted some different types of classes, so Jim got Charley Phillips (flower carving on a vase) and Jim Foster (3-D relief carving). This is an opportunity to take some wonderful classes from great instructors. Sign up early and often before they fill up. Please keep in mind that Mike Nowakowski is who you contact if you want to take a seminar 717-761-7121 or conewagoseminars@gmail.com. Thank you Jim, Joan and Mike for our awesome Seminar Program! Thanks to Chris Biles, Doug Gabel and Junior Witter for helping to promote the show at Cashman s on October 21 st. Thanks to Linda Cubero, Carol Freeland and Doug Gabel for promoting the show at the East Berlin Area Community Center Pumpkin Fest on October 14 th.

Alice Burdette gave a report on the banquet. (The food was great and all in attendance want to do it again next year.) At the banquet, we gave the Extra Mile Award given to someone who has not received it before and gone the Extra Mile in the last year. Patsy Hartnett volunteered to be Secretary in 2017 and then the V.P. in 2018. She was the lucky recipient this year and wore the tiara well. While Patsy received the award this year there were many others who stepped up in a very big way and have not been forgotten. We also instituted two new awards. Junior Witter was the lucky recipient of the first ever Boo Boo Award. He was a great sport and did not run out of the room like the recipient of the Best VP Ever award did. He claims to have had a nosebleed worthy of the Hanover Hospital. Always trying to steal the limelight, the recipient was Mr. Wonderful aka Dave Parker.

The band was very enjoyable and many folks asked to get them back. We have no scheduled Tuesday night projects, but bring in a project and kibitz. Chris Biles has agreed to take over the raffle canes for 2018. Thanks Chris and thank you Jim Hiser for doing it this year and in the past. Joan Hiser agreed to have the Sabol and Friends Silent Auction at her table. Half of the sale proceeds go to Wounded Warriors of PA. We will be voting on the 2018 Club Officers at the November meeting. President Linda Murphy Vice President Patsy Hartnett Secretary Mike Nowakowski Treasurer Dave Parker Many thanks to those who have stepped forward for 2018 and for those serving this year and in the past.
