Zarizacrat- Change of tactics- To be ridden forward. Settled midfield. Jounama- Raced tight with Miss Forbidden near the 200m. Miss Forbidden- Raced tight with Jounama near the 200m. Mrs Arbuckle- Taken outwards near the 200m to continue to improve. Readabeel- Change of tactics- To be ridden forward. Missed the start and settled last. Slow to begin (4L). Trainer J. Bateman was advised an official warning would be placed on the filly. Swift Kitty- Slow to begin. Shadow Omen- Shifted out under pressure in the straight. RACE 2: Maiden Handicap 1400m Division 1: Believer- Slow to begin. Rider B. Loy stated after being slowly away his mount settled in a good position and travelled well to the 600m. He added from that point it dropped the bit and failed to run on. A post-race veterinary examination found the mare to be in season. The Truck- Change of tactics- To be ridden forward. Settled midfield and wide. Raced wide throughout. Ramaadi Bullet- When questioned regarding todays apparent improved performance Trainer G. Duryea stated at the gelding s most recent start it endured a very tough run after being obliged to race wide throughout. He added today, from a good draw, the horse was able to dictate the tempo of the event and the gelding appeared to appreciate the heavy track. Bright Irish Eyes- Returned with a minor abrasion to the off fore. Heza Jolly Swagman- Raced keenly in the early stages.
Ohiyesa- Began awkwardly and lost ground (3L). She Won t Leave- Held up between the 400m and 250m. RACE 3: Maiden Handicap 1400m Division 2: Jindaberra- Bumped after the start. Belvurn- Bumped heavily with Secret Power near the 400m and became unbalanced. Secret Power- Bumped heavily with Belvurn near the 400m and became unbalanced. Rider B. Loy pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he did use the whip on eleven (11) occasions prior to the 100m. B. Loy s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Monday 10 July 2017 and to expire on Friday 14 July 2017, on which day he may ride. Bodice- Slow to begin. Fila Freckle- Raced wide throughout. Hoffski- Bumped after the start. Kappy Cino- Slow to begin. Mittagundi- Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Moonlight Duchess- Slow to begin. Payday Princess- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. RACE 4: Maiden Plate 1000m: Redfu- Raced wide throughout. Hung outwards in the straight. Trainer T, Sutherland was advised an official warning would be placed on the gelding. Arosa- Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the start afforded the filly. The evidence found Arosa missed the start and then bounded in the air, losing significant ground (10L). The filly was declared a runner and Mr T. Lorback, representing Trainer Mr C. Heywood was advised the filly must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before it would be permitted to race again. Flash- Shifted out under pressure in the straight. Grey Storm- Laid out over the concluding stages. RACE 5: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1000m: Call Me Anything- Rider M. Cahill explained his mount travelled nicely to the turn but was then immediately under pressure and found little in the straight. He added in his opinion would be better suited on firmer track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Lightning Alert- Change of tactics- To settle behind leaders. Settled handy.
Hippeia- Raced wide throughout. Fire And Flood- Slow to begin. Rider T. Jeffries pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that she did use the whip on ten (10) occasions prior to the 100m. T. Jefferies was fined $300. T. Jeffries was further reprimanded under AR137A(5)(a)(i) for using the whip on consecutive strides prior to the 100m. Kleiner Teufel- Showed no early pace. RACE 6: Benchmark 62 Handicap 2500m: Class Clown- Rider R. Bensley stated the gelding did not run out the distance of today s event and struggled under a big weight on the heavy track. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Real Dream- Slow to begin. Rider N. Souquet pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he did use the whip on ten (10) occasions prior to the 100m. N. Souquet s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday 19 July 2017 and to expire on Wednesday 26 July 2017, on which day he may ride. Essence Prevails- Bumped on jumping. Rock Icon- Crowded on jumping between Thunder Road and Zorba, which shifted out. Esempio- A pre-race veterinary examination of the mare, which raced at Goulburn on 7 July 2017, found it suitable to race. Bumped on jumping. Laid inwards shortly after straightening. RACE 7: Benchmark 50 Handicap 1300m Division 1: Dakota- Crowded after the start between The Real McCoy and Joranda Falls. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Magic Scene- Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Eased near the 250m when awkwardly placed on the heels of She s Just Rosie. The Club s veterinarian reported the gelding tied up after the event. Comrade Ned- Slow to begin. Arena Queen- Raced wide throughout. Chew Toy- Rider B. Vale was reprimanded under AR137A(5)(a)(i) for using the whip on consecutive strides prior to the 100m. Willy White Socks- Slow to begin. Liabilityadjuster- Slow to begin. Pay the Ones- Blundered on jumping. Monsoon Charlie- Steadied near the 1200m when crowded between Verduzzo and Edge of Madness which was taken out by She s Just Rosie. The Real McCoy- Raced wide throughout.
She s Just Rosie- Steadied near the 100m when Kijitsu (J. Gibbons(a)) shifted out when not quite clear. Apprentice Gibbons was advised to exercise more care. RACE 8: Benchmark 50 Handicap 1300m Division 2: Zardabba- Trainer T. Smart could offer no tangible explanation for todays improved performance other than the gelding had taken a lot of improvement from its first up run at Canberra on 23 June 2017. My Friend Albert- Slow into stride. Alabasta Bay- Rider A. Layt explained his mount travelled well in an advantageous position but failed to quicken on the heavy racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination did not detect any abnormalities. Jill s a Lady- Slow to begin. Midnight Swing- Began awkwardly and lost ground (3L). RACE 9: Benchmark 70 Handicap 1300m: Mitchell Road- Raced wide throughout. Waitaha Prophecy- Laid inwards in the early part of the straight. M. Cahill, rider of the 3rd placegetter, was found guilty of a charge under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride his mount to the end of the race. M. Cahill s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Saturday 15 July 2017 and to expire on Saturday, 29 July 2017, on which day he may ride. Didn t Even Kiss Me- Raced wide throughout. Sand Dune- Slow into stride. Stewards noted the following riders exceeding the permissible strikes with the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii).
