With each paid recital fee, you receive two half-price ticket codes, or essentially one free ticket. Seating availability is not guaranteed until tickets have been purchased. You will need SEPARATE tickets for EACH recital you attend. Anyone occupying a seat (anyone over the age of 4) must have a ticket. Those audience members age 4 and under will only need a ticket if they are not sitting on a lap. Dancers must remain backstage for the duration of their show they will NOT need a ticket for their assigned show. If dancers attend a different show that they are not performing in they WILL need a ticket. Specific recital ticket information and ticket codes have been emailed to all families. If you have any additional questions or need any help with your ticket purchase, please see the front desk. **Ticket Website: www.tututix.com/thedanceauthority RECITAL PROGRAMS Souvenir recital programs will be available again this year. They include the order of dances, student s names listed by each dance, business ads, message ads, acknowledgments and other memorable information. If you attend the 10am show and are returning for the 2pm, 6pm or even our Sunday showcase, we ask you bring your program with you, as they are the same for each show. RECITAL PROGRAM - PARENT & STUDENT INFORMATION Review the class information sheet that is currently being passed around. Please do the following: 1) Check the spelling of your dancer s name. This is how it will look in the program. If it IS correct, please initial next to their name. If it is NOT correct, or you would like to see it listed differently, please cross their name out and write the corrected spelling next to it. 2) Write the size you would like for your dancer s recital t-shirt. 3) Check the parent name and phone number that is listed. Update if need be. This information is in case of emergency on show day. SHOUT-OUTS Want the perfect addition to your Recital 2017 scrapbook? Family members and friends can place shout-outs in our souvenir program. These can be as simple as a one-line shout-out or you can completely customize your shout-out with a picture and personalized message. Order forms are available on our website (under Recital Information). **ORDER FORMS DUE SATURDAY, MAY 6 2

All children must wear same shoes / tights for uniformity on stage. COSTUME CARE Please take good care for your child s costumes. Do not let your children wear the costumes prior to our shows, as we want the costumes to look new for both picture day and recital day. Please write student s name in his or her costume(s), shoes, and accessories. We recommend you store your costumes in garment bags and use gallon-size plastic bags to store tights and accessories for each costume. TDA garment bags are available in the TDA Bowtique for $10. **TIPS** For the performance: Please do not wear underwear under tights. Remove all nail polish. No jewelry is to be worn. If your child s costumes require two different color tights, please follow the example below. This will make changing costumes on show night much easier. Ex. Their ballet dance that requires pink tights is first and their tap dance that requires tan tights is last. Please put the tan tights on first and the pink tights over their tan tights. 3
COSTUME ALTERATIONS Most of our costumes come fully sewn; however, there are a few costumes that may need some slight alterations and/or attachments added which would require some light sewing. This is the responsibility of the parents. If you need assistance with your costume alterations, please contact the TDA office and we ll put you in touch with a seamstress who can help at a very reasonable price. MAKE-UP All dancers will need dark brown eye shadow, black mascara, black eye liner, powder, rose/mocha colored blush and lipstick. Use base foundation as needed. Face make-up gives dancers an even skin tone while defining their facial features. It also adds healthy color so they aren t washed out from the stage lights. Eye and lip make-up gives depth and dimension while defining their eyes. HAIR All hair MUST be pulled back in a high bun for rehearsal AND recital, unless otherwise noted. Hair must be secured away from face, as hair can cause shadows on the dancers faces from the stage lights. PICTURE DAY Deyo s Photography will take professional photographs of dancers in their costumes. A photo of each group dance is provided to TDA by Deyo s commemorating our annual recital. These pictures hang in the studio for years to come. If you cannot make it to picture week for any reason, please let the front desk know by Friday, May 5 th so that we can plan accordingly. We take one group photo in one costume per class. However, you will be able to take individual pictures in each costume (for classes with more than one dance). If you wish to have individual pictures taken in your other costume, please change into that costume, tell your child s teacher you would like an individual picture taken and we will get it taken as soon as we can. Natural make-up can be worn and hair can be styled however you wish this year. Only dancers and TDA Staff are allowed into Studio C while pictures are in session. Deyo s Photography and TDA Staff will make sure all dancers are posed and smiling for the camera. We thank you in advance for following and enforcing this policy. **Picture Week is Monday, May 8 th through Saturday, May 13 th during normal class times. All pictures are taken at TDA. DRESS REHEARSAL 10am show Monday, May 15 th 4:30-9pm 2pm show Wednesday, May 17 th 4:30-9pm 6pm show Friday, May 19 th 4:30-9pm Dress rehearsals are mandatory for all performers, volunteers, and production staff. If you are in all three shows, you will need to attend ALL THREE rehearsals. Rehearsals are necessary to ensure a well run, organized, and professional show. They run in a very similar manner to show day to ensure the readiness and safety for all performers and production staff. To keep dress rehearsals less chaotic and the recital a surprise for everyone, please limit attendees to your dancer and one guardian. 4
To familiarize yourself with the arrival process for Show Day, when you arrive at your rehearsal, please enter through the South auditorium doors and proceed to the auditorium. There will be designated seating areas for each class. Signs will be posted with your class day, time and teacher. Dancers will sit with their class and assigned stage moms until it is their turn to perform. After they rehearse they will be accompanied back to their assigned row until they Final Bows. Students are dismissed after their last dance has been rehearsed OR after our all-studio Final Bows rehearsal, whichever is later. These are full dress rehearsals so dancers should be in full costume, tights, dance shoes, make-up and hair. Please arrive with first costume on. If your dancer has more than once dance you can change them into their next costume after their first dance has rehearsed. Please use the band rooms (signs will be posted) for costume changes. Boys will also have a specific band room to use as a dressing room. We run ON TIME, sometimes even a few minutes early. Please arrive 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR REHEARSAL TIME in your first costume with stage hair and make up done. Out of respect to all participants and production staff, dances will be performed in the specific order and time they are assigned. We are unable to wait for missing and / or late students, and cannot alter the order in which numbers are rehearsed. DRESS REHEARSAL REMINDERS: Dancers must sit together as a class with stage moms so our staff members can easily locate each class at its appropriate rehearsal time. Dancers and families must stay seated and quiet while in the auditorium. Running up and down the aisles will not be permitted. Final Bow Rehearsal: At each dress rehearsal we will practice our final bows mid-evening, as a convenience to our families. On Show Day, dancers are to wear their recital t-shirt and either jean shorts, black shorts or black leggings. Parents may videotape and take pictures at any time during the dress rehearsal. Reminder, there is NO videotaping or flash photography at recital. Food and drink will be sold during all rehearsals again this year, and is to be consumed at the tables in the commons area ONLY. Please DO NOT let your dancer eat in his/her costume. Bring a cover up or a change of clothes. **All food and drink proceeds directly benefit the TDA Competition Team. There is no food or drink allowed in the auditorium at ANY time. Please keep snacks and drinks in the commons area or dressing room. If Papillion or TDA staff members see any, it will be confiscated. SHOW DAY We split our classes into three shows to keep each production time reasonable. Each show is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes long. Reminder, arrival time for dancers is one hour prior to each show, with the auditorium doors opening one ½ hour before each show. Because of the limited dressing room space, only stage moms and dancers are allowed in the dressing room and backstage for the duration of the show. If you wish to stay with your child during the show (which includes being in the dressing room or backstage), please volunteer to be a stage mom. There is reserved front row seating for all stage moms. Please have your child arrive in their first costume with stage hair and make-up done. You can then go into the dressing room (band rooms- signs will be posted) and find your child s designated area. We ask that you then check-in your child with their assigned stage mom. If your child is in a combo class and an additional class (ex. Shining Stars and Triple Threat), please have them sit with their combo class. After you have checked your child in, you may join the rest of your family out front in the commons area until the auditorium doors open. If your dancer will be arriving without a female parent/guardian/helper, please let our office know beforehand and we can arrange for a TDA staff member to escort your child to their dressing room and check them in. 5
Dancers are to remain backstage for the duration of the show. We will have activities available for all children so they are occupied at all times. All students will be under the supervision of responsible adults and will be safe for the length of the performance. We want parents to enjoy the show! If your child has more than one dance in the show and requires a costume change: Moms are invited back to the dressing room one number following their child s performance and have three numbers to change their child into their next costume. This will limit the number of people in the dressing room at any given time and ensure there s a steady flow of moms coming in and out of the dressing room. For safety and organizational purposes, children will not be released to parents until the conclusion of each show. Following our finale, we welcome you to join us on stage to pick up your child and take pictures with family, friends, and teachers! Stage moms will have a contact name and phone number for each dancer in their class. If you are needed during the show for any reason, a text or phone call will be made to you. ADDITIONAL RECITAL INFORMATION The dancers are working hard on their recital dances and want to make them the best they can be. Please make every effort to have regular class attendance through recital! Please be respectful to our volunteers, stage moms, TDA staff members and Papillion staff members. They have a big job and we couldn t run a smooth show without them! Video and still photography are allowed at rehearsals ONLY. Flash photography and video are strictly prohibited on show nights, as it is a distraction and safety concern to our performers. There is absolutely NO food or drink allowed in the auditorium. I would like Papillion-LaVista High School to think fondly of TDA and our dance families and invite us back in the future. Please be respectful of their space. We hope you will not need to leave the auditorium once the show has begun; however, if you find it necessary to leave, please exit and enter the auditorium between dances, as the outside lighting is a distraction to the dancers on stage. Programs are the same for each show. We ask that you please keep your program if you plan to return to any of our other shows, as quantities are limited. Final Bows every TDA dancer is to wear their Cheers to 15 Years t-shirts with jean shorts, black leggings, or black shorts. All order forms and detailed recital information can be found at: http://thedanceauthority.com/recital-information/ And don t forget to make sure your dancer s HAVE FUN!! This is such an awesome experience for everyone involved! 6
