SATURDAY, MARCH 22, 2014 QUICKEN LOANS ARENA CLEVELAND, OH TV: FOX SPORTS OHIO RADIO: WTAM 1100 AM 7:30 PM EST CLEVELAND CAVALIERS (26-43) VS. HOUSTON ROCKETS (46-22) 2013-14 CLEVELAND CAVALIERS GAME NOTES REGULAR SEASON GAME #70 HOME GAME #35 CAVS QUICK FACTS The Cleveland Cavaliers will wrap up their three-game homestand tonight when they square off with the Houston Rockets for the final time this season. Over the last four home games versus Houston (since 2009-10), the Cavs are averaging 112.3 points, 24.5 assists and a.463 (38-82) mark from the three-point line. In the first meeting between the Cavs and Rockets this season on Feb. 1 at the Toyota Center, Luol Deng led the Cavs with 24 points on 10-19 (.526) shooting, including three three-pointers, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 36 minutes. Kyrie Irving tallied 21 points, four rebounds, a team-high seven assists and three steals in 39 minutes, while Dion Waiters added 19 points on 8-14 (.571) shooting, two rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes off the bench. Since Feb. 8 (19 games), the Cavs are holding teams to the 4 th -lowest FG% in the NBA (.434) as well as the 7 th -lowest points per game (98.1). On Thursday, Cleveland held Oklahoma City to 38-89 (.427) shooting from the field, including 4-16 (.250) in the fourth quarter. After holding Miami to just 5-19 (.263) shooting in the fourth quarter on Tuesday, the Cavs have now held their last two opponents to a combined 9-35 (.257) shooting from the field in the fourth quarter. Cleveland has dished out 27 assists in consecutive games for the first time this season. The last time they accomplished that feat was last season (27 assists vs. OKC on Feb. 2, 2013 & 33 assists vs. CHA on Feb. 6, 2013). Since re-entering the starting lineup (two games), Dion Waiters is averaging 23.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 7.5 assists in 41.0 minutes per game. Waiters, the Eastern Conference s leading bench scorer (14.7 ppg), made his 11 th start of the season on Thursday and scored a seasonhigh tying 30 points to go along with four assists and three steals in 41 minutes against the Thunder. Coming into tonight s contest, Spencer Hawes has scored in double figures in a career-high 13 straight games. He tallied 20 points versus Oklahoma City on Thursday to surpass his previous best of 12 straight double figure scoring games (March 16-April 6, 2013). In 14 games with the Cavs, Hawes is averaging 15.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.0 block in 33.5 minutes per game. He is also shooting.424 (28-66) from the three-point line with Cleveland. On Thursday against the Thunder, Matthew Dellavedova notched his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 10 assists in 33 minutes off the bench. Over the last five games, Dellavedova has plus/minus of +45. In his last three games versus the Rockets, Tristan Thompson is averaging a near double-double of 9.3 points and 10.3 rebounds in 32.7 minutes per game. On the season, Thompson leads the Cavs with 29 double-doubles (tied-5 th in East). He can become just the 5 th player in Cavaliers history to have two seasons of at least 30 double-doubles (B. Daugherty, T. Hill, L. James & S. Kemp). Only Brad Daugherty has notched 30-plus double-doubles in consecutive seasons (43 in 1991-92 & 43 in 1992-93). Thompson registered 31 double-doubles in 2012-13. Varejao also took sole possession of 9th place in franchise history in games played that night as it was his 513th career game with the Cavs. DROPPING 13 AND 10: In a 20-point win (99-79) over the Utah Jazz on Feb. 28, the Cavs had three players tally at least 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kyrie Irving notched his first triple-double (21 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists), while Spencer Hawes (13 points, 16 rebounds) and Tristan Thompson (18 points, 14 rebounds) each registered a double-double. The last time the Cavs had three players record at least 13 points and 10 boards was Feb. 2, 2008 (D. Gooden, Z. Ilgauskas, L. James). Also against the Jazz, the Cavs outrebounded Utah by 25 rebounds (56-31), their largest rebounding margin since March 1, 2010 (+29, 60-31 vs. NYK). (Elias Sports Bureau) NICE RUN: The Cavs experienced its first six-game winning streak (Feb. 7-19) for the first time since winning eight straight contests from March 8-24, 2010. During the win streak, the Cavs outscored its opponents by 10.1 points per game (103.8 to 93.7). The Cavs also won three straight road games during that streak, which was the first time since Nov. 5-9, 2010 (at PHI, at WAS & at NJ) that has happened. Cleveland also held opponents to under 100 points in a season-high eight straight games from Feb. 9-25. The last time they accomplished that feat was Jan. 21-Feb. 4, 2010 (also eight games). DOUBLE-DOUBLE TRIO: In the 114-85 win at Philadelphia on Feb. 18, Tyler Zeller scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds, while teammates Tristan Thompson (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Anthony Bennett (10 points, 11 rebounds) also recorded double-doubles in the win. They're the first Cleveland trio to put up at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in the same game since LeBron James (28 & 11), Zydrunas Ilgauskas (22 & 13), and Drew Gooden (14 & 12) on February 2, 2008 against the Clippers. This season, the Cavs have had three players notch at least double-doubles in a game three times this season, two coming against the Sixers (11/9 & 2/18) and the other against Utah (2/28). The Cavs 61 rebounds on Feb. 18 against the Sixers were their most since Feb. 25, 2011 against New York (62). (Elias Sports Bureau)
