Once you are at the Welcome page the parent/guardian will need to create an account if you don t have one by clicking on the "Signup" button at the bottom of the page. Registrations MUST be submitted using the parent/guardian login and not a student s. Payment for each sport will be requested at the end of the registration process so have your credit card information ready. The online registration will require electronic signatures (checkboxes) for both the parent as well as the student, so both parent and student should read through each section and click on the signature box as required. Note that we still require a physical copy of your student's physical form so please have your student bring a copy to the front office if they have not submitted one yet. Spring Sport practices will officially begin on February 29 th so all registrations must be submitted before that date in order for your student athlete to attend the first practice. There s best friend Bernice, whose lack of musical talent does not prevent her from playing in the school band; wise-cracking Delta; everannoying big brother Brad; Gunther the nerd and heart-throb Aaron Hill. And the beleaguered faculty is represented; among them, school counselor Miss Phelps, dispensing her incomprehensible advice when she s not chasing after English teacher and aspiring novelist, Mr. Fogarty. Weld Re5J RHS COUNSELING February 2016 Motivating students to apply for scholarships Dear Parents/Guardians, Spring semester of a student s senior year is full of many mixed emotions and it can be difficult to keep students motivated, not only to attend their classes and fend off senioritis, but to continue to look for and apply for scholarships. Below are suggestions that may make the process easier. Have an honest discussion about how much college truly costs and help them develop a budget. Sometimes seeing the cost in writing helps students make realistic choices about money and the importance of applying for scholarships to help with the cost. Looking for scholarships can seem overwhelming. Organization is a truly important. Make sure they have reviewed deadlines and eligibility criteria that the scholarship is requesting. Help them develop a scholarship organization plan that works for them. This might include; their resume, transcripts, letters of recommendations, essays, etc., it will make the process much easier for them. Sometimes teenagers need incentives to get the scholarships done. Find out what would motivate them to get those applications finished and consider make a deal with them. Perhaps they can take a break from chores if they get a scholarship application done. Help them establish realistic their schedule. Is it reasonable to apply for two a week? If it is an attainable goal, they are more likely to compete it, without you having to nag them all the time! Recognize and acknowledge when they do get their applications done and turned in. Let them know that you see how hard they are working on helping pay for their school, it might encourage them to work on more! -http://www.ecampustours.com Upcoming Events: February 5th:College/Career Fair February 6th: ACT Practice with Tutor Doctor February 6th: Saturday School February 17th: P/T Conferences February 25th: ASVAB test at RHS- National ACT: April 9th Deadline to register March 4th Great tips to make 2016 the best year Listen before you speak-seek to understand first.
