October 01 October 07 2018 Fish N Chips this Friday Night It is a Tingirian tradition to have Fish N Chips on the first Friday night of each month. Our fish n chips have earned a great reputation so there is usually a good roll up of club members, guests and members of the public. John Milne & John Bowden will be cooking the fish while Ian Waller-Wilkinson will be cooking the chips. Suzanne Pike will be preparing the salads. The cost of fish and chips: $12.00 for members and $14.00 for non-members. Coffee and Sweets Available Suzanne Pike will organise a tea & coffee bar and serve dessert. Coffee/Tea $2.00 Slice $3.00 Ice-Cream $2.00 Bus Driver: Norm Black Bar Crew: Ivan Scott & Claire Brereton Friday Setting-up Crew: Peter & Moya Fox Saturday s Clean-up Crew: Mary-Ann & Tim McCue How to book the club courtesy bus for Friday night Book a ride on the Club s courtesy bus by indicating on the dinner board or by telephoning or texting Neville Prosser on 0425 798 750 and let him know who, how many and the pick-up address. Commencing this Friday we are trialling a different way to collect your meals on Fish and Chip nights. Each person will still get a number, the same as every Friday night at the club. But instead of having individual names and numbers being called, we will be calling whole tables at a time. Each table will have a number and the order of tables will be randomly selected. This change will improve the Fish and Chip night experience by: everyone at a table enjoying their meal together, less noise as only table numbers rather than individuals will be called, those members and guests arriving a little later (for example on the bus) will not be disadvantaged as to when they receive a meal as there will be no gain in arriving early to get in first. This suggestion was proposed by a club member, and we are sure it will be a welcome improvement to our ever popular and busy Fish and Chips nights.

14th Calvert Memorial Sailing Event and Dinner 2018 The sailing event and the presentation dinner is held each year in memory of Past Commodore Brian Calvert and his wife Margaret who did a great deal in shaping the Club we have today. No race day was ever complete without the sight of Brian on his beloved Snugglepot usually together with his long suffering soul-mate, Margaret, alongside, bobbing up and down off Pott s Point as our official starting boat. Regardless of the weather they were always out there doing starter s duty whilst the rest of us sailed off on an enjoyable day racing, always to be greeted at the finish line by Brian calling out the time as Margaret dropped the flag. David Dunk, Tribute to Late Commodore Brian Calvert, Tingira Boat Club Newsletter October 2005 14th Calvert Sailing Event Our annual big boat sailing event is scheduled for Sunday 14 October.
