We will also be hosting a Warriors 5K Walk/Run on August 24, 2013 and invite our local community and military families out for a day of entertainment and excitement. The Texas Sentinels Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization that provides debt free homes, job placement, mentorship and life changing opportunities to military men and women who have recently suffered severe injuries as a result of their immeasurable sacrifices for our country. The Foundation relies solely on the generosity and contributions of individuals and businesses that simply wish to express their gratitude to these American heroes. Our tax ID number is 26-1639155. Generous businesses across the greater Houston/Galveston area have already contributed substantially to this cause, helping to build and donate eight new homes, with another soon to be underway for a local Fort Hood hero. Your tax-deductible donation will help expand these efforts along with other Texas Sentinel programs that will continue to offer assistance to an ever-increasing number of wounded soldiers returning to Texas. The Foundation and these fine men and women need your support. We appeal to patriotic Americans like you to make either a financial or an in-kind donation. Through your efforts we can continue to support our wounded military men and women and offer our gratitude for their sacrifice, service and loyalty to our country. Stand up, be counted and show your support please. The Program It costs approximately $60,000 to $100,000 per Texas Sentinels Foundation Housing Scholarship to help these young warriors get the jump-start back into civilian life that they need. Local volunteer teams pledge to provide mentoring and moral support, and the Sentinels pledge to use that support to reach their personal, professional and financial goals. The Foundation s mission is to provide qualified members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were severely injured in the line of duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001 with support adapted for their needs. Success of Program In September of 2009, the Texas Sentinels Foundation introduced its first Texas Sentinel, Marine Corporal Donny Daughenbaugh. A native of Iowa, Donny and his family will be given a new home in League City, Texas, courtesy of the Bay Area Builders Association. This success was followed by the announcement that (Ret.) Army Sergeant Jorge De Leon of San Antonio and (Ret.) Army Sergeant Johnny Wilson of Arlington were named our second and third Texas Sentinel scholarship recipients. To date, the Texas Sentinels Program has successfully adopted eight deserving soldiers throughout the state of Texas. The foundation plans to continue this success in other areas of Texas, and it is through the commitment and support of individuals and businesses throughout Texas that they are able to make the dreams of these wounded warriors come alive.
