November The Jefferson Shooter Official publication of The Jefferson State Shooting Association Inc. YOUR LOCAL SHOOTING SPORTS ASSOCIATION 2015 JSSA P.O. Box 7178 Klamath Falls, Or. 97602 HILLARY DECLARES NRA THE ENEMY! Joining her, former Maryland governor Martin O Malley expressed similar sentiments. Both have made it a priority to attack the over 5 million law abiding members of the NRA and the more than 100 million lawful gun owners in the country. During the Democratic debate both O Malley and Hillary answered, the NRA to the question Which enemy are you most proud of? With Hillary also including: the Iranians, insurance companies and Republicans. The Roseburg shooting has energized the anti constitution presidential candidates and numerous gun control groups across the country and our two U.S. Senators into much gum flapping calling for more useless restrictions and ineffective laws that serve no purpose. Also jumping on the bandwagon is the Brady Bunch that has dredged up a sentiment uttered back in 2013 by another gun control lunatic Joe Rosenthal that the NRA is a terrorist organization. It just goes to show what lengths people ignorant of the U.S. Constitution and the purpose of the NRA go to denigrate, defile and just plain trash a founding document and the oldest civil rights organization in the country. Arguing with them with facts and logic is like talking to a door but with a door you can open it and move on to more fruitful endeavors. COMING ACTIVITIES ********************************* PARK CLOSED THANKS GIVING GUN SHOW DECEMBER 5TH AND 6TH CHRISTMAS PARTY DECEMBER 11TH Affiliated with the National Rifle Association of America, Oregon State Shooting Association, Civilian Marksmanship Program Member, Oregon Association of Shooting Ranges Editor-Floyd Hancock 1 JSSA RECEIVES $4,500 GRANT! The Jefferson State Shooting Association has received a range grant from the NRA for improvements to the Larry Martin 200yd range parking lot and for additional construction on the multipurpose training range. Funding was approved to install a culvert in front on the 200 yd Larry Martin general purpose range to more efficiently drain runoff from the parking lot. The grant also provides funding for more PRS bound plastic bales for bay dividers on the multi purpose training range. SUPPRESSORS TO BE DOWNGRADED TO FIREARMS STATUS! HR 3799 the Hearing Protection Act introduced by Arizona Congressman Matt Salmon (R) will remove suppressors from provisions of the 1934 Firearms Act. (see suppressors pg 3) CEASEFIRE OREGON REGURGITATES WISH LIST! Oregon s chapter of the gun control organization is again sniveling about stronger background checks, tighter standards for CHL s & FFL s, and improved safety standards for guns. They also want higher taxes on guns and ammo, ban assault weapons and large magazines (see Ceasefire Pg 4) Next meeting at Klamath County Museum 1451 Main St. November 18th 2015 6PM

Please try to set aside some time to fill a shift or two for our fall fund raiser. Please contact Dan at 541-281-6841 to sign up. **************** Club elections will be at the annual meeting in January and nominations for offices are now open. Please contact any club officer if you have someone to nominate for the next years terms. *************** There will be no membership meeting in December as the Christmas party will replace it on December 11th. Katie Feinauer asks that those interested in attending RSVP to her as soon as possible for a head count. 541-892-0958 ******************* Shooting matches normally are cancelled the gun show weekend so that members may be available to assist in gun show operation. **************** The Friends of NRA banquet on October 17th went quite well and JSSA representation was quite significant. For those that do not attend you are missing one of the best prime rib dinners you will find most anywhere and you will be supporting NRA s education and training programs. 70% of the funds raised go to youth programs and last year over $309,000 was distributed in grants in Oregon, JSSA being one recipient. ***************** The ATV that is normally used to monitor the ranges and haul a trailer for range set up is again in the shop for repairs ( it has since been returned to service) The vehicle sees much use and was acquired in used condition. It has been proposed that a new vehicle be purchased as a back up but for JSSA use only and there was some discussion at the October meeting with more to come. President Jim Monroe outlined some of our other priorities that should be completed before taking on additional obligations. ********************* Jack Watters won the monthly raffle and selected some primers from the assorted prizes. 2 ********************* The Steel Challenge match normally scheduled for the first Saturday in November (the 7th) was rescheduled to Oct 31st by match director Charlie Halvorsen. The change was announced in the H&N in the sports briefs column of the sports section. With \the holidays coming up there may be other changes to the regular schedules so I will try to get them published in the H&N. Please try to have any items for the news letter to me by the 25th of the month. ***************** We wish to thank Leon Williamson for the new improved shooting tables that are now being used in our competitive shooting activities. They are much sturdier, higher and have a much larger surface area for all the shooters paraphernalia when in the shooters box. Sadly we must retire the vintage, garage sale special TV trays that have served us well for a number of years but they needed to go. ********************** A surprise at the sign in kiosk at the park! It s gone! In it s place are some concrete forms apparently for a foundation for a new sign in facility. I did not see the table set up under the RV cover when I stopped and went on to the pistol range. When I got there A fellow geezer on an ATV ran me down and informed I had to sign in and mumbled something about my hearing. A question: do we now have a new park host to replace Carolyn? The park is now operating on winter hours of 8am to 6pm. ******************** STOCKLING STUFFERS! 1 year NRA discount membership $25. Life membership discounted to $750 and available on the Easy Payment Plan (EPL). Contact Floyd at 541-882-8263

Box 7178, Klamath Falls, OR, 97602 IRRATIONAL N.Y. CONGRESSWOMAN PRO- POSES $100 GUN TAX! A N.Y Democratic congresswoman would have all gun transfers penalized with a $100 tax. The tax would go into a fund that would be used to develop strategies to combat gun violence (read a slush fund to make up new ways to trash the 2nd amendment). (suppressors from pg 1) The legislation, if passed, would treat suppressors like a firearm and eliminate the $200 transfer tax and require a background check through NICS only so that a person prohibited from owning firearms would not be able to possess one. The extremely lengthy and complicated current background check would be also scrapped. 37 states now approve possession of suppressors and the health benefits for hearing protection are more and more an overriding consideration as opposed to the old Hollywood bugaboo of them being a gangster or assassins attachment to firearms. Suppressors are also now being advertised in a more correct and logical light as to their true nature as a modulator (British term) or suppressor of loud noise rather than the misleading Hollwoodesque and politically approved Silencer. 3

Jon s version of bobbing for apples (L) only these apples are on a string and you use a 9mm or 45 pistol to take them off. (Oh well the deer will like the scraps.) Trick or treat [R] but with bad guys mixed in with the trick or treaters, probably to steal their candy. Zombies take hostages and the shooter must save the ones they use as shields [R}. The object held by the hostage of the undead scourge on the left in the photo is a hair drier and no shoot indicator it is not an anatomical appendage as it would appear to some. Seated homeowner [L] opens the door to a trick or treater and a bunch of bad guys holding her hostage. Zombies with hostages threaten homeowner just getting home from work with gun in briefcase on table (L). (Ceasefire fm pg 1) limit gun purchases to one a month, micro stamping, a two week waiting period, higher standards for gun ownership, proficiency testing for CHL.s along with conflict resolution and active shooter training. They also want loaded chamber indicators, and magazine disconnects on all firearms. Safe storage is among their top priorities meaning lock them up so they are inaccessible even in an emergency. Ceasefire Oregon has thanked Congressman Earl Blumenauer for agitating the gun control pot once again along with a professor from Johns Hopkins gun control research center that is largely funded by none other than Big Bucks Bloomberg. OBAMA VETOES DEFENSE SPENDING BILL AND DUMPS CMP 1911 SALES! The defense spending bill contained provisions that would have the CMP sell the remaining U.S. stock of 100,000 1911A1 pistols to lawfully approved and qualified citizens. The spending bill would also make it easier for the military to be armed on military installations. It seems funny that the president would veto his own spending bill that was so overwhelmingly bipartisan in passing the congress but giving soldiers guns for heavens sake what was he thinking? And politically correct pistols that only hold 7 rounds in the magazine that is the gun controllers dream. 4
