Many of you have vacation plans or outdoor activities scheduled with family and friends. The Lodge is also planning many summer events. Monday night horseshoes have started. You will find a fun group in the back yard every Monday playing horseshoes and making burgers on the grill. Corn hole will be starting up soon and there is the possibility of having bonfires again. The Moose Riders are riding and they are planning a dinner cruise at Raystown Lake. Don t forget the family picnic in August. Bring your children. This year we will have plenty of things for them to do. Please remember that the picnic is for members only, your children, and your grandchildren under the age of 21. It has been a long winter with many bumps in the road. However, as I had said in the last newsletter, with your help we will make it through the hard times. We are on the right path and things are beginning to turn around. I want to thank everyone for their support. I especially want to thank those of you that donated your time to help paint and clean up the Ballroom. We have had many compliments and are booking events. And thank you to last year s Officers. They pulled together and made our Lodge a fun place to be again. This year s Officers look to be a good group. I am sure that they will help continue down the path of success. Everyone please have a safe summer. Stop by the Lodge to see some friends and remember A burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many. Thank you! I wanted to take the time to introduce myself formally to everyone that may not know me. I m sure you have seen me around the lodge, but for those that haven t seen me, my name is Kevin Stuck. I was born and raised in Burnham and have been a Moose member since 2003. I have recently accepted the position of being your up and coming governor for the 2016 2017 year. I am a little nervous, but I feel that with the support of You our great members, I will have a successful year and so will the lodge. After the last two years of being an officer, I am excited in taking that next big step. I have had some great predecessors and look at keeping the traditions that they have bestowed upon us, but also come up with some new and exciting ideas as well. I feel that we have put together a young and energetic board that will be able to accomplish many things in the lodge and make it one of the best in the state, if not more. I also want to see more collaboration between the men of the Moose and the chapter. I feel for the lodge to be a Great success, we need to work together and come up with some ideas to bring back the Family in Lewistown Moose Family Center. I keep an open door policy that if you have anything you want to discuss with me or bring up, please feel free to reach out to me via letter, email, Facebook, cell phone or even in-person. I will take time to listen to your concerns, assess it, and then come up with a solution that hopefully everyone can be happy with. Thank you for your time and support and I am looking forward to the exciting year to come! Moose proud! Time to get the bikes out of the garage, get them polished and shined and let s hit the road. Many of us are getting tired of being cooped up in the house and not being able to hit the open road. There are many things to look forward to for this year s Moose Riders. We are looking at some new ideas to try out this year to see if we can spark some new interest and retain our current members. We are currently in the process of checking out rates, times and availability to go on the Proud Mary which is a boat that cruises Lake Raystown. The event would be a dinner and cruise combo and would be open to Moose Riders and we are also looking at including any interested Moose members as well. We wish to make it a day of fun and fellowship, what the Moose is all about. Rides that we hope to do this year include the Traveling Trophy ride in June, in which the Lewistown Moose regained the trophy last year. We look to defend our accomplishment and raise even more money for the charities this year. Those that can attend can join in on the Loom-a-tic ride sponsored by our fellow Huntingdon Moose Riders. There will be the Ride-4-Kids ride to raise money for the kids at Mooseheart. A ride to Ocean City bike week in September and many more. We are hoping to do more riding this year even if it is just taking off an evening for a ride to a local restaurant or quick spin. Watch for sign-up sheets and notifications of rides to come. Of course we can t forget the great support we get from our own members. Last year we decided to continue Thursday Wing Nights and it has proven to be a success. We have had great turn outs all summer and winter and it has proven to be a great year round event. We are even contemplating making it an all you can eat night. Let us know your thoughts, maybe it would give us that push to pack the house. The new liquor pourers that the Moose Riders have donated to the lodge are finally here. After a long wait on backordered they have finally come and preparations are under way to update the liquor stands to a new and existing pouring system. Stay tuned to see them, hopefully they become a conversation piece. Mark it on your calendar for the Moose Riders State Rally. It is being held in Curwensville, PA at the Curwensville Lodge # 268 and will hopefully be a great turn out. Everyone said they had a great time at our Moose last year and couldn t wait until next year. The Curwensville Moose has a great venue and onsite campground if you just want to hang around the Moose all Rally weekend. Hope to see you there. Make sure you get your registrations in and reservations made for your accommodations. The weekend is August 19 th, 20 th and 21 st. Watch our lodge for State Rally Tickets to get your chance to win some big bucks! I want to wish everyone to have a safe and fun packed summer. Enjoy as many functions as you can at the Moose Lodge and especially those Moose Rider functions. Be sure to come down to the Moose any chance that you can. There are many new and exciting things going on at the lodge. You will notice many face-lift items to make the lodge nicer and more attractive. Thank you and talk to you again in the Fall. Be safe, keep the rubber on the road and throttle to the floor. Kevin Stuck Lewistown 143 Moose Riders President

***** ADVERTISE SPACE AVAILABLE ***** I want to take a few moments to talk about an icon that has been here at the Moose for many years. Always a smiling face at the door during functions, a pleasant voice calling bingo, and one of the best BBQ chicken cooks that this Lodge has ever had. I am talking about Brother Lew Smith. May 1 st will be the beginning of something that I have never seen in my time at the Moose. Brother Lew will no longer be an Officer here at the Lodge. He has decided to retire from being a Lodge Officer. It is my hope that even though he no longer has an Officer obligation, he will continue to come out on occasion to help at the door. He is someone that we could always count on, and I personally want to thank him for his years of dedicated service to the Fraternity. On behalf of everyone here at the Lodge, Thank you Lew.. Bud Balliet CHRISTMAS IN JULY On July 23, 2016, 9am-3pm our Moose will be hosting a craft/vendor show. The show will be held in the ballroom as well as outside. We hope our fellow Moose members can join us for the silent auction. If anyone is interested in volunteering to help out, please contact Rose Diven or Jamie Barrett-Fetters.
