Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. (CT). UW continues its road trip by visiting Indiana on Oct. 21. Sunday s match is set to kickoff at 12 p.m. Wisconsin is 3-8-3 in its all-time series against Purdue, but has not lost to the Boilermakers since Sept. 28, 2008. Wisconsin and Indiana will meet for the 22nd time, with Wisconsin holding an 11-8-2 series lead. Wisconsin has won four of the last five meetings, including shutouts in three of those four victories. KNOW THE FOE: THE boilermakers Purdue is 11th out of 12 teams in the Big Ten with a 2-5-1 conference mark and a 7-7-2 overall record. The Boilermakers are 1-3-1 in their last five and have been shutout in their last three matches. Despite a 1-6-0 road record this season, Purdue owns a 6-1-2 home mark and have not allowed more than two goals at home this season. The Boilermakers are third in the Big Ten in saves (42) but average a Big Ten-worst 9.0 shots per match in conference duels. Despite being at the bottom of the conference in shutouts (1), Purdue keeper Clara Kridler is tied for first in the conference in saves, averaging 5.12 per match. KNOW THE FOE: THE hoosiers Indiana is eighth in the Big Ten with a 3-5-0 conference mark. The Hoosiers are 8-7-1 overall and are 3-2-0 in their last five matches. IU owns a 6-2 home record and is in the midst of a two-match home win streak. Indiana is tied for fifth in points (28) in conference matches and is tied for first in saves (49). Rebecca Candler is tied for third in the conference in assists per match (0.50), while GK Sarah Stone leads the conference in saves per contest (6.50) and is third in shutouts (2). The Hoosiers welcome Minnesota before taking on the Badgers on Sunday. LAST TIME OUT Behind Cara Walls second game-winning goal in as many matches, the University of Wisconsin women s soccer team eclipsed the 10-win plateau in comeback fashion Sunday, defeating Illinois in a 2-1 double-overtime win at the McClimon Complex.. Following a scoreless but aggressively-played first overtime period, Walls and the Badgers (10-5-1, 3-4-1 Big Ten) re-took the pitch and immediately looked to strike. A cross from the right flank entered the box and was blocked by Illinois keeper Steph Panozzo. Walls immediately made a move on the ball and notched her eighth goal of the season, sending it to the far post to end the match and extend the Badgers win streak to three games. Big ten board The Badgers moved to sixth in the conference following Sunday s win and now own a 3-4-1 mark and are 5-4-1 in their last ten matches. As a team, the Badgers are second in the conference in single-match points (16 vs. South Dakota St.) and are tied for second in single-match assists (6 vs. South Dakota St.) and goals (5 vs. South Dakota St.). Sophomore Cara Walls is tied for third in the conference in game-winning scores (2). Freshman McKenna Meuer emerges as the top-ranked freshman in the Big Ten in game-winning goals (3), ranking tied for fourth overall. 10 is the magic number For the fourth-consecutive season the Badgers have eclipsed the 10-win plateau. Following UW s 2-1 double-overtime win over Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 14, the Badgers matched their win total from 2011, with three matches left to play in the regular season. Wisconsin has now tallied 10 or more wins in seven of the last 10 seasons, making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament during five of those 10 doubledigit winning slates. Mcclimon the walls The Badgers have had one of the most successful home campaigns in recent memory. Much of the success has been a result of the solid play of sophomore Cara Walls. The Wauwatosa, Wis., native bypassed the potential slump that plague most sophomores who dominate their first collegiate season and is matching her strong numbers from 2011. In all six home matches that Walls has tallied a point in, UW is 6-0- 0. Walls played the role of savior during the Badgers last two matches, notching game-winning goals against both Northwestern and Illinois. The sophomore is currently tied for third in the Big Ten in game-winning goals (2) and now leads her team in points (17) and goals (8), after tallying 19 points and nine goals in 2011. goal-oriented The Badgers are tallying goals at a rapid pace this season. After 16 matches, Wisconsin has eclipsed its entire goal total from 2011. Behind a pair of four-goal outings and a five-goal performance against South Dakota State, the Badgers have 31 goals to date, five more than their total output all of last season, still with three regular season matches to go. Wisconsin s offensive improvement is largely due to its aggressiveness on the front line. UW is outshooting its opponents 221-189 and is outscoring foes 31-20. poll position Despite a 3-0 weekend, the Badgers remain unranked in the NSCAA/ Continental Tire Top-25 UW is now seventh in the Great Lakes regional rankings, with Penn State topping out the group in first-place. shooting stars The Badgers hold a 6-1-0 record in 2012 when outshooting opponents, with three of those victories coming in shutout fashion. On the contrary, UW is 2-3-1 when being outshot in matches during 2012. All three of those losses have come to ranked foes, with two coming at the hands of Big Ten opponents. early bird gets the worm The Badgers have conceded the contest s first goal in five matches this season, recording a 2-4-0 record when doing so. Wisconsin s offensive aggressiveness has been vital in all eight victories this season, with six coming in matches where the Badgers recorded the game s opening score. UW holds a 60 percent chance of winning the match when scoring first and are 8-0-0 in game s where they have accomplished just that this season. The Badgers are 7-0-0 when leading at the half and 2-2-1 when tied heading into the intermission. moscato added to coaching staff Paula Wilkins announced the addition of Canadian national team member and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, Carmelina Moscato, to the women s soccer coaching staff. Most recently, Moscato served as Canada s starting center back during all six matches of the 2012 Summer Olympics, playing a vital role in her native country earning its first-ever medal in Olympic competition.

Northwestern 0-8-0 0 4-10-2.312 (Through Oct. 15) - Wisconsin s five-goal barrage against 6 South Dakota State is not out of the norm for the Wilkins bunch. During four of Wilkins six seasons as head coach, which includes the 2012 season following Sunday s shootout, the Badgers have knotted five or more goals in at least one match. Consistent kinley Paula Wilkins freshmen class, led by starting midfielder Kinley McNicoll, has given the Badgers a much-needed boost this season. Wilkins is starting four freshmen and McNicoll, an Ontario native, is emerging as the leader of the talented bunch. Through16 matches, McNicoll is third among all Badgers in points (12) and has shown flashes of experience and grit only seen in someone who has redshirted or is nearing the end of their four-year career. The freshman has shown aggressiveness, ranking second on UW in shots (29) but has also displayed her unselfishness, notching only 12 shots on goal and tallying five assists this season. HOME sweet home Wisconsin s fast start was due in large part to its friendly nonconference schedule, which included three-straight home games to kick off the season for the first time since 2005. The Badgers finished their regular season 7-2-0 at the McClimon Soccer Complex this season, a feat UW has not accomplished since 2009. Party likes it s 1989 For the first time in over two decades, the Badgers defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, knocking off the 2010 NCAA National Champions, 1-0, to open the 2012 season. Wisconsin previously recorded its one and only victory over Notre Dame on Sept. 9, 1989, in South Bend, Ind. Friday, Aug. 17, UW got a late goal from senior Monica Lam-Feist in the 84th minute, securing the win for the Badgers, which was just their second all-time against Notre Dame. In her first start in net since the graduation of All-Big Ten GK Michele Dalton, Lauren Gunderson recorded a career-high seven saves, as Notre Dame outshot Wisconsin 12-8 and earned three more corner kick opportunities than the Badgers. Prior to the Aug. 17 match, the closest the Badgers have come to defeating the Fighting Irish is in 2001, when the teams played to a 2-2 double-ot draw in South Bend. Canadian connection Among all 26 members of the 2012 Wisconsin women s soccer team, five states are represented, with the state of Wisconsin garneing the most players. Five Badgers hail from Canada, including three starters. Senior Monica Lam-Feist (Surrey, British Columbia), juniors Paige Adams (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) and Genevieve Richard (Saint-Bruno, Quebec), as well as sophomore Kodee Williams (Toronto, Ontario) and freshman Kinley McNicoll (Oakville, Ontario), are all Canadians by birth.
