As always it s a privilege to serve as your golf professional. If we can be of any assistance, please don t hesitate to contact us. All the best in golf, Kevin Rhinehart News from the Course The fall season is upon us with all of its colorful glory. The leaves have been changing colors for a couple of weeks now, and they provide a beautiful backdrop to our wonderful golf course. The greens were aerated with holes sand filled in early October. They have responded very well to the weather with minor nutrients applied. The greens are once again in tremendous playing condition except for the large amount of unrepaired ball marks. This is a terrible problem on our greens. I ask every member to take pride in your golf course and repair your ball marks and any others that you may find on the greens. Also rake the bunkers after playing from them. Thank You! As well as changing colors, the leaves are finally beginning to fall from the trees. For our staff, this means many hours spent on leaf cleanup and removal. Our staff will continue to work daily to keep the golf course as clean of these leaves as possible with the weather permitting. Our staff will continue daily routine maintenance on the course such as mowing greens, changing pin and tee positions, etc. until the weather gets colder and the play slows down along with leaf removal. We will also have several small and some larger projects to complete inside and out over the next few months. Soon the warm season grasses on the golf course will begin to go into winter dormancy. When this annual transition begins, we will be restricting golf carts to the paths for several days until complete dormancy is reached. This restriction could range from one to six weeks depending on the weather. Signage will be posted on #1 and 10 tees daily with golf cart rules for the day. We may also restrict the use of carts for an extended period of time once again this winter and next spring depending on the severity of the winter temperatures. I understand that this is not popular among most members but I, as the director of the most important asset of our club, the golf course, must make tough decisions which are in the best interest of the turfgrass. I hope that everyone had a great golfing season and look forward to a happy holiday season. David Farris, Golf Course Superintendent and Staff

Ladies' Day League The Day League held their annual chili/pie luncheon and business meeting on October 28. It was a Trick or Treat party. Although a nine-hole scramble was scheduled, rain did not permit play. New 2015 officers were installed as follows: Sharon Gunn, president; Terris McLain, vice president; Sandy Swann, secretary; and, Suzanne Jackson, treasurer. The Day and Night Leagues will hold their annual Christmas party on Tuesday night, December 9. The committee is compose of Sharon Gunn and Terris McClain from the Day League and Angel Edwards and Maebeth Harbison from the Night League.. Memorial Tree Project To be a part of this second planting of the Memorial Tree Program, you must sign up immediately. Planting is currently scheduled for mid October, depending on the weather. This is the last opportunity as trees will be ordered soon. These trees are a great way to remember a loved one or friend who has passed on or to celebrate an important life event. In addition, they help to beautify and enhance our Club. Trees are available for $300 and include a 4 x 6" stainless plaque. Stop by the Golf Shop for more information or contact Jason Bell at 270-559-9850 or by email at jasonbell71@yahoo.com. For complete information, see below or go to www.rhccgolf.com. Member Pride Project Time is running out. Erection of the new sign for the main entrance is planned for early Fall 2014. If you have been planning to make a donation but have not yet done so, please contact Joe Chambers at 270-559-0831 or Lisa Dapp at the Clubhouse, 270-554-4508, Ext 1. Rolling Hills wants to say WELCOME to our newest members. We are so excited you have joined our Club. Santa will be making a special appearance on Saturday morning, December 6th, to enjoy a delicious breakfast with all the good little boys and girls and their parents. Then kids can hop on Santa's knee to tell him their Christmas wishes and have their picture made too. This will be a favorite event of the year, so you will want to sign up early. Sign-up sheet will be posted in the Clubhouse on Monday, November 17th. What a great holiday tradition to start with your kids and Santa at Rolling Hills.
