As always it s a privilege to serve as your golf professional. If we can be of any assistance, please don t hesitate to contact us. All the best in golf, Kevin Rhinehart News from the Course The fall season is upon us with all of its colorful glory. The leaves have been changing colors for a couple of weeks now, and they provide a beautiful backdrop to our wonderful golf course. The greens were aerated with holes sand filled in early October. They have responded very well to the weather with minor nutrients applied. The greens are once again in tremendous playing condition except for the large amount of unrepaired ball marks. This is a terrible problem on our greens. I ask every member to take pride in your golf course and repair your ball marks and any others that you may find on the greens. Also rake the bunkers after playing from them. Thank You! As well as changing colors, the leaves are finally beginning to fall from the trees. For our staff, this means many hours spent on leaf cleanup and removal. Our staff will continue to work daily to keep the golf course as clean of these leaves as possible with the weather permitting. Our staff will continue daily routine maintenance on the course such as mowing greens, changing pin and tee positions, etc. until the weather gets colder and the play slows down along with leaf removal. We will also have several small and some larger projects to complete inside and out over the next few months. Soon the warm season grasses on the golf course will begin to go into winter dormancy. When this annual transition begins, we will be restricting golf carts to the paths for several days until complete dormancy is reached. This restriction could range from one to six weeks depending on the weather. Signage will be posted on #1 and 10 tees daily with golf cart rules for the day. We may also restrict the use of carts for an extended period of time once again this winter and next spring depending on the severity of the winter temperatures. I understand that this is not popular among most members but I, as the director of the most important asset of our club, the golf course, must make tough decisions which are in the best interest of the turfgrass. I hope that everyone had a great golfing season and look forward to a happy holiday season. David Farris, Golf Course Superintendent and Staff
