All other uses are excluded and may lead to death. Many types of misuse are possible and it is impossible to list or imagine them all. In case of doubt contact Lyon Equipment Ltd*. Training in the correct use of the ground anchor stakes is essential. The user of this product must be competent and responsible. If you are not able, or not in a position to assume this responsibility, do not use this product. * Lyon Equipment Limited can provide training in the selection, use, inspection and maintenance of personal fall protection equipment. Contact details can be found in these instructions Issue date: Document Number 3 rd March 2015 LPI 014v3 Lyon Equipment Limited Unit 3-7 Tebay Business Park Old Tebay Penrith CA10 3SS, UK Tel: +44 (0)15396 24040 Fax: +44 (0)15396 26330 info@lyon.co.uk www.lyon.co.uk

Use The 9 stake ground anchor is heavy! Transport in manageable pieces. Check that this product is compatible with the other components of your equipment. The 9 stake ground anchor is designed to provide a temporary ground anchor. Ensure that the ground anchor stakes are placed at least 2m from any surface disturbance (cliff edge, significant change in soil structure, void list not exhaustive). Ensure that there are no service supplies (electricity, gas, water, telephone etc) buried in the immediate area where the ground anchor stakes are to be inserted Danger of death! Always take suitable safety precautions when placing ground anchor stakes where there is potential of a fall from height Danger of death! Always wear appropriate PPE whilst driving in ground anchor stakes. Always ensure that other personnel are well clear during stake driving risk of contact with swinging tools etc Each stake should be driven into the surface to a depth of at least 60% of their overall length. If this is not achievable do not use the ground anchor stake, remove it and reposition the ground anchor stake to a location that the correct depth can be achieved. Use the minimum force necessary to drive in the ground anchor stake. Do not overdrive! Damage can occur to the ground anchor stake if it is repeatedly struck after impacting against an immoveable object. Page 2 of 8

The ground anchor must wherever possible be loaded on the centreline of the placement position. Variations to the load direction are only allowed within the confines of the angle of the side plates (see Figure 1). Maximum angle permitted of the load rope Figure 1 Ensure the load applied to the ground anchor is as low to the ground as possible. Only connect the load into the shackle provided. Be vigilant visually check that the ground anchor stake is holding the loads applied at regular intervals during work periods. Typical arrangement Page 3 of 8

Never: Use a single ground anchor as the sole anchor point of any system Place solely in snow, dry sand, icy or loose material Connect load bearing textile items (slings, rope, cord etc) directly onto the ground anchor stake. Always use metallic connectors to EN 362 or EN 12275 type Q or provide additional suitable protection between the textile item and the shackle Load at an angle outside of the angle defined by the ground stake side plates (Figure 1) Allow moving ropes to come into contact with ground anchor stakes Allow the ground anchor stake to interfere with the operation of any device attached to the ground anchor stake Modify the ground anchor or stakes in any way General information Cleaning Wash in clean water not exceeding 30 C with pure soap and rinse in clean cold water. Dry naturally away from any direct heat source. Chemicals All chemical products, corrosive materials and solvents should be regarded as harmful. If the ground anchor stake comes into contact with any chemicals remove it from service and contact Lyon Equipment Ltd with precise details of the chemicals concerned to ascertain its future safety. Inspection Lyon recommends these products undergo a thorough inspection every three months Do not hesitate to scrap a product showing defects which might affect its strength, or restrict its operation. Be particularly vigilant for sharp edges and/or cracks, especially around the head of the stake where mushrooming of the metal may occur with heavy use. Page 4 of 8

For your safety we advise you to adopt a 3-level checking schedule. Before, during and after each use it is necessary to check the condition of the product and its connections to other elements of the system. Each time that exceptional circumstances occur which are liable to jeopardise the safety of the product A more thorough inspection must be carried out by a competent person (approximately every three months). To keep control of your equipment, we advise you to keep an inspection record for each product. Lifetime The product lifetime includes everything - from the period of storage to the period of use. The lifetime depends on the intensity, the frequency of use and the environment where the product is used. In exceptional circumstances, wear or damage could occur on the first use, which reduces the lifetime of the product to one single use. Certain environmental conditions will considerably accelerate wear: Salt, snow, ice, moisture, chemicals, etc (list not exhaustive). IF IN DOUBT DO NOT HESITATE TO SCRAP THE PRODUCT Page 5 of 8
