A no-host social hour will start at 5:00 P.M. with dinner served at 6:00 P.M., catered by Robin Mawhinney. Dinner choices are grilled salmon or prime rib at a cost of $25.00 per person ($10.00 17 and under), which includes gratuity. Only 3 brave souls managed to show up with a total of six 5-shot groups fired for record. Best group size and highest score was posted by Steve Simons, of La- Grande, at 10.0 and 45 respectively. The other group sizes were unremarkable at generally between 1 and 1.5. The range record group size and score continues to be held by Gary Paananen, of Weiser, Idaho, at 3-1/8 and a score of 50-3X, set August 2, 2009. The previous range record group size was held by Frank Taggart, of LaGrande, at 4-3/16, set June 16, 2007. The 1000 yard bench rest matches are relaxed and fired from a covered shed. There are almost no restrictions on the rifle, scope or rests used. If you d like to stretch that barrel a little, bring it out. See Match Schedules for dates and contact information. Black Powder Cartridge Rifle Silhouette After a summer lull in BPCR matches, 8 shooters showed up November 14, 2009. After the smoke cleared on a cool morning, the first three places were: 1st: Jennifer Roulet, score of 29 (out of possible 40) 2nd: Gale Culver: score of 27 3rd: Steve Morris: score of 24 A schedule December match was canceled due to an expected low turnout. No matches are scheduled for January, June or September. See separate Club Calendar and Match Schedules for match dates and contact information. 2010 Dues Payable Now Club membership is on a calendar year basis, payable in January. A single sheet renewal form is included in this newsletter, which can be mailed in or brought to the annual meeting. Dues are unchanged this year at $20 for individuals or $25 for a family membership. The range gate lock combination is changed March 1st, with the 2010 combination found on the back of your new membership card. Treasurer Wayne Bloom has also indicated that newsletter mailing labels will now show the membership expiration date. If your mailing label indicates 2009, please remember to renew. Thanks For Your Support The 2009 Trailblazer Adventure Sweepstakes has come to an end. This year the PRSC made $560.00 from the sales of the sweepstakes tickets. I would to thank everyone who purchased tickets that were in your last newsletter and from Vic Savage personally. I hope several of you become winners when the U.S. Sportsmen s Alliance draws the winners on or about December 28, 2009.

Powder River Sportsmen s Club News VIRTUE FLAT RANGE For New and Old Members: Information on using the Virtue Flat Range Numerous questions are asked about when club members may use the range. Hopefully this will answer some of them. The club calendar section of the newsletter lists all scheduled matches and most other reserved range use with the dates and times involved, helping members avoid conflicts and wasted trips. In many cases, a shooting activity on one range does not affect other range use. The Club s Ranges are: 1000-yard Range (Prevents any other range use) Use of this range, with the firing berm nearest to the entry gate; This range is used for Black Powder Cartridge Rifle monthly matches; 1000-yard Bench rest and long-range High Power Rifle Matches. These matches usually end by mid-afternoon. (Individuals using this range - Must first check the entire range to be sure no one else is down-range.) 200-yard Range (Prevents 1000-yard use) Most range use occurs here, where there are several bench rests under a roof, with target holders at 25, 50, 100 and 200 yards. This range is used for Standard High Power and Sporting Rifle Matches, Pistol es and by most individuals wanting to test loads or sight rifles. When this range is in use, it is still sage to use the 100-yard pistol range to the North, which has 2 bench rests under cover, and a 100-yard target holder. Pistol Range (100-yards) (Prevents 1000-yard use) This range is used primarily for pistol shooting, with a registration building, target storage shed, and covered area with two bench rests and picnic tables. Most law-enforcement agencies reserve this range for qualification shooting. It is also used for.22 Silhouette Matches, Junior.22 Program, YHEC.22 and Muzzleloader training and Cowboy Action Shoots. Use of this range still allows for safe use of the 200-yard bench rest area. When using this area please make sure the slide rails are put up when you leave to keep cattle out of it. It is the Club s intent to have the 200-yard range and / or Pistol range available for general use about half of the weekend and holiday days during the busiest, warm months. Fee s from matches and law-enforcement use are necessary to keep the range in operation, so any help and consideration from any and all members is appreciated. Please report any acts of vandalism to the Sheriff as soon as it is discovered, and remember to put Safety First at all times.
