Minutes June 5, 2014 Meeting was called to order by President Beverly Davis with 16 in attendance. Since the new volunteer year has started Beverly has made a loose leaf notebook where we can fill in our hours at each meeting. You put your name on a page and keep that page for the year. If you want, you can remove the page and put it back next June. She passed around the business cards in case we were going to demos and needed some. Minutes were accepted as printed in the newsletter. Also, we voted to have the correction to our ByLaws that reflect the new wording for IOLI sent to be filed. Beverly presented several options for Maria s class around Lace Day. Duchesse, Bruge and Rib & Rolle. Jackie will host and class will be 3 days, Friday, Sunday and Monday. It was decided to do Rib and Rolle. If you want to do a continuing Schneberger it would be OK just no new beginners. We will all be beginners for the Rib and Rolle class and this is easier for the teacher to not be going in so many directions at once. Minutes July 3, 2014 Since we all ate, made lace, talked, and just plain had a lot of fun we didn t do any meeting at the picnic. Just a reminder that we will NOT have any meeting for August as many of us will be gone to IOLI Convention., Secretary -- I m supposing that Elena may have her feet up and feeling some relief now that OIDFA Conference is over. But, even before all this she sent along this picture of a Butterfly Necklace she did Nice huh? Marilyn Charles informed that we have been invited to Flock and Fiber again. September 27 and 28 9:00 to 4:00. We voted to be on the lawn weather permitting. Marilyn will let them know. Beverly read a text from Jackie requesting lace to be shown at OIDFA. She will be leaving before the fairs and getting back after, so you should only send items that you are NOT going to be taking to a fair. Give items to Opal and she will get them to Jackie. Reminder July meeting is the picnic at Marilyn Barnes home at.4101 SE Filbert in Milwaukie. No meeting in August. DEMOS Harvest Fest-Aug 16 at Heritage Museum in McMinnville State Fair-Aug 27 and 31 (sign-up sheet was passed around) Champoeg-Aug 30th 1-4 Farmstead Day Flock & Fiber-Sep 27-28 Speaking of OIDFA Lynda Libby sent a picture showing the lace she made at the class along with some extra leaves. Very pretty - Beverly reported on our demo at the State Capitol. We had a great day there and Sherrie met someone from Champoeg who said they wanted us to come demo they just didn t have paid leaders anymore, so we are welcome to show up for the times we did before. Lynda Libby has been appointed to head up the nomination committee. She will choose two others to work with. They will have the slate in September to be printed in the October newsletter. Beverly reported she got a chance to demo with the Denver group while visiting with her daughter. She had a great time. Meeting was adjourned for show and tell and working on lace rolls. Beverly finished her heart project from our recent Idrija class. Nice colors. Respectfully submitted,, Secretary Roseground - Portland Lace Society <<< - >>> Page 2

Keep making butterflies many are needed to put on the rainbow centerpieces and just to generally spread around. Big, small, medium. Any lace. Just keep them coming. Give them to Alice. Alice is making butterflies too. Here are some she has made recently: This is unusual. More butterflies notice the one up in the left corner with the wire edges. This is not a butterfly, but Alice made an oval edging as well. She has been busy at the pillow. FELLOWSHIP OF LACEMAKERS "An international fellowship of lacemakers" OIDFA the organization of bobbin and needlelace is frequently described. When lacemakers from thirty-seven countries of the world meet together a fellowship experience happens. Lacemakers taking classes from teachers of other countries discover language is never a barrier because of a wonderful "fellowship of lacemakers." Join OIDFA and have this experience in your lace work, not only in lace classes, but also in conventions and world lace congresses. Many nations will be represented in display booths exhibiting handmade lace in Slovenia's capital Ljubljana from June 24-26, 2016 when the 17th World Lace Congress is held in their country. It is an opportunity to experience the "international fellowship of lacemakers." Read about it in OIDFA's quarterly bulletins/journals. If you are not a member, now is the time to pay your membership dues of $45 and get your name on the mailing list for all the upcoming reading about lacemaking in Slovenia and other countries. by Margaret Palen, OIDFA Administrative Council Member and USA National OIDFA Treasurer =========================================================================================== Lace from Spanish/English Magazine - - - - - Several of our members have been getting a new magazine out of Spain called Twist and Cross. There are many wonderful articles and some really nice projects in these magazines. I recently finished two of these projects. The Idrija doily is from the last magazine. The Hinojosa project was presented as a three-part lesson in 2011 s subscription. They have a web site and a gallery. These two items are now in the gallery. I would encourage all of us to make something from these magazines and send pictures to be posted. It is fun to be part of the International group. Just as Margaret has mentioned above, lace is a common language. Jean Web site: http://vueltaycruz.es/en/twist-and-cross-official-website 1359 S Ginger Ct TO:
