Chester Row - slow to begin. Got its head up when being restrained in the early stages. Silky Star - commenced awkwardly. Rider Ben Thompson could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to its mouth. Black Benita - slow to begin. Just Getsem - began awkwardly and shortly after the start was eased when racing close to the heels of Mutineer. Sayonaramosa (NZ) - raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider Nicholas Hall could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Green Patina - raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Sonsee Array - lost its near fore plate in running. Race 2 - Silks Function Centre Maiden Plate - 1400 metres: Geodesic - jumped in at the start making contact with the hindquarters of I Boogi (NZ) and shortly after than had to be checked when awkwardly placed on that geldings heels, then shifted in abruptly. Over-raced in the early stages. After passing the 500m, was steadied and then shifted back to the inside of Eramosa (NZ) to obtain clear running. Rider Steven Arnold stated that due to interference at the start, his mount settled further back than anticipated. Steven Arnold further explained that over the concluding stages he was unable to ride the gelding out in his normal manner due to I Boogi (NZ) shifting in slightly under pressure. I Boogi (NZ) - bumped at the start. Lost its off fore plate in running. Kaching - commenced awkwardly. Step Up - raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Rider Dean Holland could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and trainer Mr Jack Dalton was advised a warning will be placed on the gelding for being uncompetitive. Mr Dalton advised it would be the geldings last start for his stable. Kaluah - rider Dwayne Dunn stated in his opinion the mare would benefit from todays race as it was nine months since its previous start, and may not have been suited by todays track conditions. Race 3 - Jools For Jim Maiden Plate - 1100 metres: Gold Warrior - commenced awkwardly.
Frothed - near the 900m was bumped inwards by Ameristralia which had shifted in and away from Street Em Boss. Rider Ben Melham explained his mount was disappointing and didnt respond to his riding in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slower than normal recovery. Ameristralia - near the 900m shifted in and away from Street Em Boss before then being eased when awkwardly placed to the inside of Street Em Boss which had been taken in slightly by Bianaussie (Patrick Holmes); Patrick Holmes was advised to exercise far greater care when shifting ground. Bubbas Call - raced fiercely in the middle stages and near the 550m had to be checked when close to the heels of Gold Warrior. Bianaussie - at the entrance to the straight became unbalanced when bumped by You Remembered Me, then shifted out and was obliged to ease off the heels of Street Em Boss which shifted out slightly. Snitty Kitty - rider Chris Symons explained the filly raced greenly early and would benefit from todays racing experience. Race 4 - Peter Anthony Menswear SV Maiden Plate - 2200 metres: Duke Of Staghurst - slow to begin. Blood And Sand - raced wide in the early stages until obtaining the lead near the 1700m. Lucky Blazer - near the 1400m was carried out by Caribbean Queen (NZ) and as a result raced wide without cover for the remainder of the event. Approaching the 600m was obliged to steady out and away from Caribbean Queen (NZ) (Andrew Mallyon) which shifted out to improve; Andrew Mallyon was advised to exercise far greater care when shifting ground in future. Miss Beals (NZ) - when the pace slackened near the 1400m was inclined to over-race. Jovian - held up when unable to improve for a short distance passing the 600m. Party Moves - when questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, rider Ryan Maloney stated that after obtaining cover passing the 1500m, his mount commenced to over-race when the pace eased and for this reason he elected to allow his mount to stride forward and as a result obtained the lead near the 1300m. Component - rider Ben Melham reported his mount was making an unusual respiratory noise. Post race endoscopy detected a degree of mucus that may have affected the mares racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again. Race 5 - Catanachs Jewellers BM70 Handicap - 2400 metres:
Queen Ouija - disappointed for clear running between Melaleuca and Dancing Rose having to be steadied approaching the home turn. Dancing Rose - on straightening was crowded for room having to be steadied as Queen Ouija (Dean Yendall) shifted out to improve when not quite clear; Dean Yendall was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. Melaleuca - rider Jessica Eaton was fined $200 for using her whip twelve times prior to the 100m and in assessing penalty Stewards took into account her previous excellent record. Zenithal - lost its near fore plate in running. Race 6 - Schweppes Australia BM70 Handicap - 1600 metres: Seul Spirit - connections advised would be ridden mid-field with cover today; settled slightly worse than mid-field, three wide with cover. Street Sharp (NZ) - had to be re-plated behind the barriers resulting in a delay to the start of the race. Ferro Nero (NZ) - slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until shifting in shortly after straightening. Born Magic (NZ) - raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Laid outwards under pressure in the straight. Eljetem - hung inwards under pressure in the straight proving difficult to ride out. Rider Ben Melham was fined $200 for using his whip six times prior to the 100m; in assessing penalty Stewards took into account his record and his mounts racing manners. Belorum - had difficulty obtaining clear running prior to rounding the home turn. Blue Viper - inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the straight. Race 7 - Jayemzed @ Darkin Park BM78 Handicap - 1100 metres: Raido - commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Rider Damien Oliver explained the gelding did not race in a genuine manner today and did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed intermittent displacement of its soft palate. Lord Barrington (NZ) - slow to begin. Star Stealer - obliged to steady near the 600m when awkwardly placed near the heels of Its Poets Day.
Modesty - raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Jose Wales - passing the 200m had to be steadied outwards after improving onto the heels of Sheree. Runson - rider Daniel Moor stated his mount was not suited to todays track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 8 - mypunter.com BM64 Handicap - 1400 metres: Ofennessy - slow to begin. Falzini - commenced awkwardly. Congressional - commenced awkwardly. Siddles Birhtday - slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight. Strike Action - near the 1100m when racing keenly, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Western Hunter (Jamie Mott) which shifted in; Jamie Mott was advised to exercise more care. Continued to over-race in the middle stages, shifting to a position three wide approaching the 800m. Mr In Between - raced wide in the early stages until gaining cover three wide near the 800m. Rider Brad Rawiller could offer no explanation for the performance, which was below market expectations. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a respiratory issue and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Rushmore - held up from on straightening until approaching the 200m. Indiana Wolf - held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight. Western Hunter - hampered on straightening when awkwardly placed on the heels of Strike Action. Was again hampered approaching the 200m by Indiana Wolf which shifted out under pressure. Rider Jamie Mott could offer no explanation other than the gelding was disappointing and was a beaten horse shortly after straightening. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slower than normal recovery. Race 9 - City Of Greater Bendigo F&M BM64 Handicap - 1300 metres: Singleraine - late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 7.55am when it was established the mare had not been withdrawn by the prescribed time; trainer Mr Clinton McDonald was fined $200. Aurora Flyer - stood flat footed at the start and lost considerable ground.
Rain Fast - slow to begin. Avenue Whisper - slow to begin. Ultra Ego - commenced awkwardly, getting its head in the air. Playful Rosie - slow to begin. Disappointed for clear running to the inside of Vainrite passing the 150m and was steadied to the outside of that mare shortly after. Mamzelle Tess - commenced awkwardly, shifting in making contact with Effortless Power. Effortless Power - bumped at the start. Rider Michael Walker reported that the mare travelled well until straightening however when put under pressure did not respond to his riding and in his opinion was not suited to todays track conditions. Vainrite - bumped at the start by Effortless Power which had been taken inwards. Rider Tahlia Hope was fined $200 for using her whip six times prior to the 100m. Make Her Own Whey - raced keenly in the early stages. Bright Spark - passing the 1000m was obliged to be steadied off the heels of Effortless Miss (Katelyn Mallyon) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear; Katelyn Mallyon was advised to exercise far greater care. Give Us A Go - raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Warrington - passing the 400m when giving ground, was hampered and obliged to ease off the heels of Make Her Own Whey that shifted out.
