From the President RICHARD KUNA Dear Members, Welcome to another edition of our newsletter. It covers events, happenings and news which we hope you will enjoy reading. For the past newsletter please visit our website. The recent Lae themed The Current State of PNG Economy, What is on the Horizon? was a great success. Attendance was well over 300. We greatly value the continued support and participation from our stakeholders and sponsors. We look forward to similar participation and networking in the upcoming November conference. We encourage members to attend the conferences and ongoing professional development. Continuing professional development is important because it ensures you to be competent. Well balanced CPD delivers benefits to individuals, the profession and clients. On behalf of the CPA PNG Council and Executives I welcome the new branch executives of Lae, Tabubil and Kokopo. The next Annual will be held at the Stanley Hotel, from 16th to 17th November, 2017. As a measure to improve our conference experience, we have communicated to our members that the cut-off date for registration is November 3 /2017. Please ensure to observe the due date. Exhibition Booths Gearing Up exhibition booths now sold. NEWS The conference, themed Leadership, Challenges and Opportunities in an Emerging Economy, will be held at the Stanley Hotel, Port Moresby from November 16 to 17. The program will include a variety of expert speakers, covering topics from Leadership challenges and opportunities and its impact on our economy. Election of Lae Executives In recent years, CPA PNG has accepted students at major universities in the country, including Pacific Adventist University and University of Goroka. Hants Max is a second year accounting student at the University of Goroka. He was attached with us for a period of six weeks which ends this week. Hants said it was a delight to have received the industrial training experience. He is looking forward to return to UOG next week with work place exposure. CPA PNG is pleased to announce the new Executive Committee Members of Lae branch in 2018. The committee members are: Eugene Kali, President, Cummins Veronica Toksy, Vice President, BSP Chad Towaipi, Treasurer, Kapi and Clarke CA firm. Executive Director Yuwak Tau said that this was the largest number of attendees at the conference in the years that he has been in his role, significantly up from 200 attendees at last year s conference in Lae. We have a lot of young delegates here, a lot of first time delegates, which is really encouraging.
