DUCKS GAME NOTES TUESDAY, JUNE 6, 2017 6:35 p.m. New Britain Stadium (6,100) New Britain, Conn. Game #45 Road Game #23 RECORD: 21-23 VS. RECORD: 16-27 DUCKS NEWS AND NOTES The Faithful Flock: Since their inaugural season of 2000, the Long Island Ducks have welcomed an Atlantic League record 7,120,144 fans through the gates of Bethpage Ballpark. Long Island reached the 7 million fan mark faster than any other team in league history despite having begun play in the ALPB s third year of existence (2000). In addition, the team has hosted a league-record 663 sold out crowds all-time. The Ducks led the league in average attendance during the 2016 season at 5,265 and have now led the league 14 times in 17 seasons. Ducks vs. Bees: Tonight marks the eighth meeting of the season between the Ducks and Bees as well as the 28th all-time meeting between the teams. The Bees lead the all-time series 16-11 and also have an 11-3 edge at New Britain Stadium. New Britain has a 5-2 lead in the 2017 season series as well as a 3-1 advantage in Connecticut. Matt Attack: Despite suffering the loss, Matt Larkins continued his strong pitching of late on Sunday. The right-hander turned in his second consecutive quality start with six innings of three-run ball, walking none and striking out seven. In his past three starts, the 28-year-old has given up just six runs in 17 innings, good for a 3.18 ERA. He has yielded just 15 hits and four walks in that span while striking out 15 batters. His seven strikeouts on Sunday were his most as a Duck. Fonzie s on Fire: Giovanny Alfonzo picked up another RBI single on Sunday. The infielder has now reached base safely in 18 of his past 20 games, earning at least one hit in 17 of them. During his past 20 games, Alfonzo has compiled a.356 batting average (26-for-73) with 12 RBI, five runs and three walks. The 24-year-old has raised his batting average from.174 to.313 and his on-base percentage from.167 to.330 in that span. Oh What a Relief He Is: Patrick Crider turned in another scoreless relief appearance on Sunday afternoon. The southpaw allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one in his one and one-third innings. He has now made nine straight appearances without allowing a run. During that span, the third-year Ducks has yielded just five hits and four walks while striking out 10 batters in nine and onethird innings. Crider has given up a run in just two of his 19 outings in 2017. Sing Us A Song(co): Angelo Songco collected a single in Sunday s game. The outfielder has now earned at least one hit in seven of his past eight games. During that stretch he has compiled a.286 batting average (8-for-28) with one home runs, two RBI, three runs and four walks. Songco currently ranks fourth in the Atlantic League with 10 home runs and a.520 slugging percentage. Bridgeport took the lead with a pair of two-out runs off of Ducks starter Matt Larkins in the fourth on an RBI double by Jonathan Galvez and an RBI single by Tony Abreu. A run-scoring fielder s choice off the bat of Abreu in the sixth and a two-out, three-run home run to left field by Jose Cuevas increased the Bluefish lead to 6-1.
