PLAYER CHARACTERISTICS PARENTS MEETING FALL 2017
U8 Academy: Player Characteristics Characteristics of players this age need to be understood in order for the program to achieve its goals Players this age are still working on the absolute basic fundamentals of motor skills, movement, mental processing and group interaction ( my ball vs. teamwork) Realistic assessment and awareness of this stage allows players to develop at their own rate
U8 Academy: Player Characteristics We must allow time for experimentation and room for mistakes Players will NOT have a good understanding of positions or tactics Players will NOT play like adults Players will need literally thousands and thousands of touches on a ball (Guitarist, Golfer etc)
PARENT & PLAYER EXPECTATIONS PARENTS MEETING FALL 2017
U8 Academy: Parent Expectations You will play a HUGE part in your child s youth soccer career For the best results parents need to: Be punctual with all gear needed Enjoy Support Trust Refrain from sideline coaching...that S IT!
U8 Academy: Parent Expectations The entire club has a few policies that we prefer our Academy / Select families to follow A few important club-wide policies: No Interaction with kids during training & games Drinks and gear - no halftime run to players side! 24 hour rule with questions about Games. Interaction with coaches should be well thought out before attempting. NO EMOTIONAL RANTS they do not help your child.
U8 Academy: Player Expectations Our sessions are much more player-centric than coach-centric and are designed to not only maximize technical and tactical growth but designed to also bring out enjoyment and problem solving For the best results players will need to: Arrive ready to apply themselves Take in what the coaches are saying Respect teammates, opponents, referees and coaches Have all the gear required every session / game
