2017 BASEWIDE EVENTS SPRING JUBILEE NEW FOR 2017 May 5, Community Park Principal Sponsor - $500 Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with an outdoor music festival hosted by the Oasis Community Center. While adults enjoy live music and drinks, children with have fun in the Kids Zone. RUN WITH HISTORY HALF MARATHON & EOTIC CAR SHOW TBD, EAFB Flightline Estimated attendance: 1,200 Principal Sponsor - $1,000 This annual event, hosted by the Fitness Center, is open to the general public and will be publicized heavily throughout the Antelope Valley running community and on base. The Half Marathon will be utilizing the Flightline and dry-lake bed with aircraft positioned on each side of the course and at the finish line. Private organizations and sponsors are invited to set up information and food booths. SUMMER BASH July, Wings & Roberts Fields Estimated attendance: 3,000 Principal Sponsor - $1,500 The Summer Bash is our huge 4th of July celebration. There will be live entertainment, water slides, bouncy castles, pony rides, food & beverage booths, beer garden, sponsor booths, pie eating contest, balloon artists, free watermelon, prize giveaways and much more! OKTOBERFEST September, Club Muroc Estimated attendance: 100 Principal Sponsor - $500 The Oasis Community Center will be holding their annual Oktoberfest at Club Muroc. There will be food vendors, home businesses, a beer and wine tasting tent and an Oompah band. 2017 ADDITIONAL EVENTS & EVENT SERIES EASTER AT EDWARDS AFB April 15, High Desert Lanes and Wings & Roberts Fields Estimated attendance: 300 Principal Sponsor - $400 Children are invited to bowl and enjoy breakfast with the Easter Bunny before heading outside for an egg-cellent Easter egg hunt. LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE April, Base Library Estimated attendance: 150 Principal Sponsor - $200 The library will conduct a series of activities including a coloring contest for adults, a scavenger s hunt, and open mic as part of the Open House. CHILDREN S STORY TIME Every Wednesday & Friday and Additional Special Holiday Events, Base Library Principal Sponsor - $350 Toddlers and pre-school children are invited to the library for a story and craft project. In April, the Easter Bunny joins in for a special story time with an egg hunt. Then in December, Santa comes to visit for a special story time that is usually attended by 200 children! SUMMER READING PROGRAM June - August, Base Library Principal Sponsor - $400 About 600 youth and adults participate in the Summer Reading Program each year for a chance to win awesome prizes. The library kicks off the program in June with an Opening Party. The staff hosts special activities throughout the day while patrons sign up; children may receive special incentives for signing up during the first day of the program. In August, the library will transform into an indoor carnival where children can play games to earn prizes and eat popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs, and other treats; summer reading participants enjoy especial events prepared by the staff with the purpose of promoting reading while on school break.
