Cherokee National Prospective Member Information Packet

Dear Prospective Member: We appreciate your interest in Cherokee National Golf Club. We know you will find our championship golf course, excellent practice facilities, swimming pool and banquet facilities one of the best values in the Carolinas. In 1963, Cherokee National was designed by longtime golf course architect, J Porter Gibson, who has an excellent reputation in the golf industry. In the last 18 years, Cherokee National has gone through major renovations in phases. In recent years, Cherokee National has rebuilt the greens, rebuilt and added many tee boxes for various levels of skill, made major improvements to practice facilities, upgraded the irrigation system, built a new cart building, renovated the swimming pool, relocated the maintenance facility and made major clubhouse improvements. Current improvements at the club include repairing cart paths and building additional tee boxes. We also continue to upgrade our fleet of golf carts to latest models. Cherokee National has proudly become a training center for The First Tee of the Carolinas, a national program initiative to develop young golfers skills, character and healthy life habits. We participate in spring, summer and fall classes, led by local Kyle Parker, a nationally trained First Tee Instructor. In 2012, the course invested in one of our greatest improvements: modification from L-93 bent grass greens to a new Miniverde bermuda grass, a trend of many of the finer clubs. You will find the quality of our greens comparable to exclusive clubs in the southeast. The golf course fairways, roughs and tees are bermuda grasses. Cherokee National is a par -72 golf course measuring nearly 7,000 yards from the championship tees, yet many difficulty level options are available from six sets of tees. As a result of this versatility, our membership enjoys a very challenging course with many player-friendly options. Our Director of Golf, Danny Agapion, has been a PGA member since 1989. Danny has experience as Director of Golf at some of the finest courses in the Carolinas, and has been at Cherokee National since 2004. Todd Roberson, Director of Golf Course Maintenance, grew up playing at Cherokee National then developed the knowledge and skill to become course superintendent. Todd has been with the course since 2002. Danny and Todd make an excellent team with their extensive experience and knowledge in the golf industry. They are under the direction of the Board of Directors. To learn more about Cherokee National Golf & Recreation Club, please give Danny Agapion a call at 864-489-9417, visit www.cherokeenationalgolfclub.com, or stop by and speak to Danny or a course representative at 442 Cherokee National Highway in Gaffney, South Carolina. We currently are approaching the established membership limit of 450 members, and would like for you to join us. Please see the attached membership application and informational packet for your review. Please do not hesitate to contact the Club if you have any questions. Again, we thank you for your interest in joining Cherokee National and look forward to seeing you soon at the course. Board of Directors, Cherokee National Golf & Recreation Club. Inc
