US FASTPITCH PLAYER/COACH/GAME RULES 2 0 1 5 TEN (10U)-LEAGUE
PRE-QUALIFICATIONS: ALL Games are to be played by USFA Rules with the following exceptions: NOTE: 10 and Under Teams will play by USFA Rules with the included Exceptions listed below: AGE: Girls must be no older than ten (10) years old by AUG 1 st of the current playing year. PLAYING FIELD: The distance between the pitching rubber and home plate shall be thirty-five (35) feet. The distance between the bases will be sixty (60) feet. Chalking Requirements: Batter s box, foul lines, eight foot radius pitching circle, and running lane. EQUIPMENT: The batter, all base runners and on deck players will wear protective headgear (w/chin strap). The Catcher will wear protective headgear, throat protector, chest protector, official softball leg gear, and face mask. The 11 ASA/USFA Official 47 Core Yellow (.375 compression) Softball will be used. Rubber or plastic softball cleats will be allowed NO metal cleats will be allowed. HELMETS all JO Fast Pitch batting helmets shall be equipped with a securely fastened NOCSAE approved face mask guard. PLAYING RULES: 1. A fully played game will be seven (6) innings or 75 minutes,three (3) outs or five (5) runs scored will constitute per half inning 2. In case of rainout, darkness, fire, panic or other causes which place the players or patrons in peril, four (4) completed innings (3-1/2 innings with the home team ahead) will constitute a regulation game. 3. IF tied at the end of regulation game, the International Tie Breaker will be used for one (1) inning. IF still Tied, then the game counts and one-half game win/one-half game loss. 4. BATTING: (a) Before each game, the Team Manager will submit their batting roster to the Official Scorekeeper; and have one prepared in advance to submit to the opposing team and Umpire at the Plate conference. (b) Teams will also abide by this Batting Guideline during scheduled games. (c) The Dropped Third Strike Will Apply. 5. A hit batter receives First Base ONLY if she is hit by the player/pitcher. 6. 10u s will be allowed to steal bases with the notion and liability of being put out. 7. Each Player MUST play one (1) Defensive Inning minimum. After all players have met the defensive Minimum play rule, then FREE substitution is allowed. 8. Number of Players: Defensive Team Ten (10) Players, with four (4) Outfielders must be used when a team can field ten players.
9. There will be infield fly rule in effect during the season of all games in the 10U division. 10. Slaughter Rule A game will be declared complete IF one team is ahead of the other by: (a) (b) (c) 12 Runs after 3 Innings -or- 10 Runs after 4 Innings -or- 8 Runs after 5 Innings The Time Limit will apply. 13. Two hand rule: IF a ball becomes lodged in an inaccessible place, the fielder should raise both hands. The Umpire will use his/her judgment in placing the base runners. 14. Any batter, in the judgment of the Umpire, who THROWS A BAT, will be called OUT and a Dead Ball will be declared. 15. Injured Player Play stops IMMEDIATELY for injured players and coaches may go directly to the player. The Umpire will use their judgment in placing base runners. IF a batter runner is unable to complete their turn to run the bases, the last player declared out may run for the batter-runner. A batterrunner must run their own bases unless injured and removed from the game. The injured player MAY NOT re-enter the game; she will be omitted from the batting line-up and NOT be called out. In case of an injury or sickness of a player leaving NO eligible substitute a previously used player may be used. 16. Teams may pick-up a maximum of two (2) players from a lower age group to avoid forfeiting a game due to the lack of players. Pick-ups may NOT play in place of an existing eligible team member present. Pick-ups may NOT Pitch or Catch. 17. The look back rule will apply as it comes into play during a game. A batter-runner who rounds a base toward the advancing base may stop to find ball, but then must immediately without stopping return to the base or attempt to advance non-stop to next base. If the ball is in the possession of the pitcher in the 8 ft. radius circle and the runner has not made an attempt to get back or advance. Dead ball runner is out and all other runners return to last base safely made.
